For a writing book this was unexpectedly fun to read. I learned a lot that I think I'll use for a long time to come.

This is the text for the freshman composition class I'll be teaching. Some chapters didn't feel especially relevant to modern research papers (are you going to make a pathos argument when you can cite an article?), but I was very impressed at how readable the text was (I read most of it in a few hours).
