A Taste of Love #2

Sugary Sweets

Rate this book
A light-hearted romantic comedy full of sweetness, and sass that'll have you craving more than just cupcakes.

Falling in love wasn't in the deck of cards for me. That all changed when Hatcher, my now husband, and baby daddy tricked me into marrying him. Now, life is full of hormonal fits, insecurities, and the pressures of being a new wife.

Okay, who am I kidding... Hatcher knew that my smart-mouth was the one for him. We just had to figure out the perfect mixture of intimacy and frosting to make me agree.

Favorite Quotes:

Not nice at all, Hatcher... You are playing with fire, and you know what fire does? It burns... I'm talking about a burn like a bad case of blue balls twisted by your hormonal wife.

I cut my eyes toward Sheila McDomepants where she is gracefully batting her eyes at my husband... I know Hatcher is faithful, but this woman makes me want to start a wrestling match...

I realized recently that life is short and when you have a bond with someone like the two of us do, you don't waste it on time. You jump feet first and grab ahold of what you want in life. For me, that just happens to be you, and only you.

My Review:

Sugary Sweets was a sweet and amusing delight from beginning to end. The writing was crisp, witty, and full of clever humor. These spirited friends flow freely with smart banter, antics, and snark. The story was sweet, steamy, irreverent, insightful, humorous, and highly entertaining. I will be eagerly watching for the next book.

I read Frosted Sweets (book one of this series) a few weeks ago, and was immediately captivated by the cast of characters. I was so sad to reach the last page but excited because I knew book two was on it's way! Sugary Sweets didn't dissapoint! It was wonderful reconnecting with all my "old friends" and watching their stories continue to unfold. I fell completely in love with Zara and Hatcher! They were such an adorable couple. They completely leaped off the pages! I laughed and cried, and again I was sorry to see the book end. I really hope AM writes fast. There was just one problem with this book - it is hazardous to your diet.... Be prepared to crave cupcakes!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

I grabbed Frosted Sweets when it was on sale it read so quickly I was ready for this book the very next day. Needless to say I had to wait a bit. Patience isn't my forte. LOL So - Zara and Hatcher. These two - they're something else. Zara is a high strung over thinker. She's madly in love with her husband Hatcher.

If you've ever been pregnant or known a pregnant woman - you'll know emotions are insane with everything changing in your body and hormones galore. Seriously it's a roller coaster and it's nothing different for Zara. She's a mess. Her love is fierce. She doesn't give it easy but it doesn't come with a price tag. Her craziness in Sugary Sweets is pretty neurotic. You'll want to (gently) shake her and tell her to get out of her own head!

I'll tell you - though. That Hatcher. He's the best match for Zara. He's patient, kind, and all knowing when it comes to his wife. Not to mention he gets all her crazy friends. He puts up with all four of them on a daily basis. He should be awarded a medal for it! :-)

So I would say grab this Romantic Comedy if you like a light romance with some hilarity thrown in. This is definitely one that you can chuckle through and maybe even relate a time or two.

We pick up where Frosted Sweets left off but hearing about Zara and Hatcher's full story! Zara is a trip and experiencing everything pregnant women go through with their insecurities! Hatcher is a peach, you will fall more in love with him in this book, these two are truly soul-sex mates!!

Great story while A.M. Willard keeps you in touch with whats going on in the other characters lives which is great! 5+ stars for this and I can't wait for book 3 to come out which I'm hoping is about Brody and Frankie! Make sure you pick up your copy today at the great price of 0.99 cents! It's worth that and then some! Enjoy!

Review by Lisa Kane

Zara and Hatcher James are married, living in the 'burbs and expecting their first child. Zara is going nuts. She's stressed to the max and is barely holding on.

I believe it's the domestic life that has caused me to go bonkers. I never thought that I would be married, pregnant co-owner to a bakery, and driving to a house outside the city.

To make matters worse, Hatcher is withholding sex from Zara. He has his reasons, none of which are cutting it with her. Not only that-but he's enlisted help from her three best friends-Morgan (who is her partner in the bakery), Frankie (who is away semi-permanently for business and to avoid Brody) and Natasha (who is a lawyer, currently dating a widower mechanic with a small child) Obviously as crazy as all their lives are, they still have time to mess with her mind.

Just last month he held out for a whole week. It wasn't until I was walking out the door in only my panties that he gave in. Something about not checking the mail with my girls hanging out for the neighborhood to see.

Suburbia drives Zara insane, not to mention there seems to be no end to the bored housewives living on her block that will do anything to engage her husband in conversation. He seems to take this all in stride. Not so much Zara.

The busier the bakery becomes, the more Zara's stress is and there seems to be lots of secrets going on around her. Morgan and her boyfriend Jayden are always whispering about something, she knows her husband is up to no good, Natasha is scarcely around and when she finds out what Frankie has been hiding, she feels hurt and betrayed.

This second installment picks up right where Frosted Sweets left off. The four best friends may be living separate lives, but they will always have each other's backs. It may be hard to get together as often as they used to before each of them had such complicated lives, but they will always be there for the important things. There's always time for Cocktails, sweets and conversation. Now I'm waiting for the next installment about Frankie. In spite of her good intentions, she's made a mess of her life. Can't wait to see how puts it all back together again.

Every day when I roll over and watch you sleep, I thank God that you are mine. When I see you place your hand on your belly, without knowing that you're doing it, I thank him again for giving us this life together. You, me, this child are all that matter-nothing else.

Zara James never imagined she would be married, and have a baby on the way with the guy she swore would never get close to her. And she definitely thought she would be the last person to fall in love with anyone. Nonetheless, here she is in love, but life long insecurities, and pregnancy hormones are messing with her head, while trying to be a good wife in the burbs of Atlanta. Hatcher James has never doubted his sassy wife was the only person for him, but it took a bit to come up with the perfect formula to get her to finally be his. And even though he finally has her, the hormonal insecurities have him doing his best to come up with a new recipe to conquer them.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED Zara's story. She cracks me up with her special brand of crazy, and add in the pregnancy, I was laughing so hard that I ended up snorting more than once. The character development is great, with a hilarious cast of secondaries. A.M. Willard's talented writing style reeled me in, and willing to beg for more by the end of the story. Her original witty banter makes for brilliant well placed humor, and the emotions of the circle of friends are very realistic. Now I have added her to the list of authors trying to kill me with the way she teased me with the next book, but nonetheless, I'm HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING Sugary Sweets!

This is sweet book about four friends and their love lives. The story continues from book one. We get a look into the lives of all four friends. But mostly this one is the story of Zara, Hatcher, and their new life. They've both gotten married, moved to suburbs and expecting a baby. All in all life is changing quite a for them. Zara is having difficulty dealing with all these changes and in addition to this it seems that her best friend is keeping secrets. She hate secrets so it's up to her to find out what is going on here... But will she likes what she finds or not is another question.

HAtcher is trying his best to make Zara happy. To help her find her feet and get settled in new life together. They are perfect for each other. On one hand their life is amazing but then there are all these fears which keep them second guessing. Hatcher is amazing to her and no matter what they are going to live happily ever after. Now only if all her friends can marry the loves of their lives then everything will be absolutely fantastic.

Again in the end we see the glimpse of what's coming next and I can't wait to read more about these amazing characters. I loved this book!

The second book in the series is about Zara and Hatcher. I had a harder time with this book. Though I utterly loved Hatcher (still do, he’s a gem), I had a harder time connecting with Zara. Yes, she’s facing a lot of changes in her life all at once, but her stubbornness made me want to give her a swift kick in the butt. Because despite all of her freak outs and snarkiness, Hatcher remained the ever-amazing man we all love.

Though I did enjoy when Zara finally put on her big girl panties, this book felt more like it should be a novella. The story told in books one and three felt more complete and this felt like a catch-up to get us to Frankie’s story.

What I did like about the story is the continued and unwavering relationship between the ladies. They really harken to a Sex in the City-like dynamic, but are different enough that they don’t feel like a copycat version. The writing is consistent from book 1 and we do get some answers that were hinted at in book 1.

Not my favorite book in the series, but definitely worth reading.

Five Sweet Stars! This is the second book in the Taste of Love Series and it can be read as a stand alone but is better read in order. This is Zara's story and she is pregnant going through all the ups and downs of pregnancy. Hatcher is her husband and he tries to be very supportive of her. Some of what Zara goes through is hysterical and will have you laughing to the point of tears. We see her friends throughout the story helping to support her. I enjoyed this book and especially the friendship that these women shared. I have read books by Ms. Willard before and have loved her style of writing. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. You must one click this sweet book! I recommend it!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

Sugary Sweets is the 2nd Book in the A Taste of Love Series. Sugary Sweets tells the whirlwind Romance of Zara and Hatcher and It can be read as a Standalone.

After a Whirlwind Romance and Wedding, Zara and Hatcher are expecting their first baby, Zara has to balance working at the bakery and preparing for their new arrival.

This was such a feel-good read, it wasn't over the top dramatic. Zara and Hatcher have up's and downs but it's clear throughout just how much love they have for each other. Hatcher is the perfect Husband, He is Sweet, Sexy and is completely smitten with his wife. The love story between Zara and Hatcher is beautiful, romantic and a real love story. It's not a book with sex scenes on every page, and while I'm all for that, the story didn't need it. A must read for all Romance Lovers.

Zara and Hatcher are the least likely couple that I have ever had the pleasure to read but they work so well together that I just knew this book was going to be great. I have to admit that after reading it, I did like Book 1 in this series better BUT this one is still an engaging read. Zara has this huge commitment issue and then fate strikes and she's "forced" to commit to Hatcher to start their family. I think the funniest part of the book was the war she waged on the suburban busy-bodies that Zara just knew were making eyes at her man. It still makes me giggle thinking about it now. Each of these stories has a HEA with a lead-in to the next story. I cannot wait to read the next in the series to see what happens to this group of friends.

Another sugary sweetness book that will fill your sugar cravings!!!
This book is focused more on Zara and Hatcher. And let me tell you I think Zara is the comedian of the group or the one that keeps everyone on their toes and I connect with that...lol Of course you meet these two in Frosted Sweets and I already wanted to know what was going to happen to them as well as the rest of the girls. And I love how with these stories the entwine with each other. I love how you can practicality feel how much Hatcher loves and adores Zara jump right of the pages. There is some drama in this book as well but it's the perfect mixture. I can't wait to read the next book! I really am loving this series!!! And I highly recommend it!!

Zara dances to the beat of her own drum. What works for most, most certainly doesn't work for her. She has loved Hatcher forever but doesn't see the need to get married. Life is good just the way it is or so she thinks.

Hatcher is head over heals for Zara. She's crazy and quirky and completes him in a way he never imagined. Now if he can just get that ring on her finger.

I did love this story and the friendships within. The way that they all circle the wagons to help each other when needed is amazing. AM Willard shows us that life is messy and the messier it is the more beautiful it becomes. The only thing that kind of bugged me was that it felt rushed. I still have some lingering questions. All in all its a great series and I feel like i have new fictional friends.

I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book in return for nothing but an honest review.
We met Zara and Hatcher in the first book of this series, Frosted Sweets.
Zara is best friends and business partner to Morgan, and in the previous was having a hot steamy affair with Hatcher, the accountant. Now they are married and Zara is pregnant.
This book was well written, and i liked Zara and Hatcher, but i didn't love them. I found it difficult to really get into their story, although they did give me many laughs throughout. Zara really is a bit of a drama queen, and a bit of a commitment phobe . She never imagined herself to ever be married, let alone be having a baby and living in the "burbs". Although i found the book fun to read and Zara'a antics funny, I never really grew to like her a lot. Still a fun read though and I'm really looking forward to the next book

Another hit in my eyes!!!
I adored this story! This book, again, is very well written with a storyline that will have you laughing, crying and craving cupcakes!!! Yes, cupcakes!

The characters, Zara and Hatcher are they're something else. Zara is a high strung over thinker. Hatcher is patient, kind and really knows his wife, not to mention he really likes all of her crazy friends. And let's not forget Zara's pregnancy hormones with emotions that are off the chart! And Hatcher handles all of it quite patiently. But of course, you will laugh because things can get quite funny. I mean, how could they not??

I adored this story and I highly recommend it to those who love romantic comedies! Grab it now!

Yep, it still fits: Sex in the City meets the Marx Brothers. This time around there's even a trip to New York that had me thinking "Sex in the City - tourist edition". Book two focuses on feisty Zara, the Peter Pan, wild child that never thought she'd be doing things as ordinary as falling in love, getting married, getting pregnant, or living in the suburbs. It hurt my heart to experience how much Zara doubts her self worth, how little she values what she has to offer the people in her life. Thank heaven she has Hatcher and her trio of besties to help her. I'm not quite sure how it was possible, but with the way he lavishes love and attention on his wife Hatcher is an even more attractive book boyfriend than Jayden was. This has me both intrigued and a little frightened to see what we're going to get when it comes time to see Brody and Diesel in Frankie and Natasha's books. With all the emotion bubbling under the surface of this story, it could have easily gone someplace much darker. In lots of brilliantly staged moments throughout the book, Zara's pregnancy hormones took over the plot and gave us more of that off-the-wall humor that made the first book so enjoyable. I'm now counting down the minutes until book three is released.
I received a complimentary copy of this book.

Addictive; Surprising; Thrilling!!!
And most importantly, never forget who your true friends are, they are the ones that will have your back when you have a melt down, when you need reassurance that you're doing the right thing, and love you no matter what you do - whether it be right or wrong. Friendship is found and should be held onto as tightly as your relationship with your lover. by Zara

Wow! This series is so addictive, that is hard to put down. I read this in one sitting and was almost crying when it ended. I wanted to read Frankie's book now, and I couldn't believe I have to wait.
This is a fast-paced read that keep you guessing until the end and crying for more.
This is beautifully written. Perfectly cohesively with no weak points.
OMG! All characters of this series is amazing. Really the four girls are totally BFF material and their men are a mix of spice and sweet.
This is a book of friendship, of love, of rebuilding ourselves, of creating new paths.
Zara and Hatcher's chemistry is undeniable. They are scorching hot together and their passion in combination with their love is mind-blowing.
This is the type of read that hooked me into the characters life so much that I have almost forgotten my kids at school, in fact I was a fashionable late. :)
I have laughed a lot with this book. It's fun, romantic, wild, cute!!!

Review 2

I'm so excited about this series, that it's hard for me to find something to fault, but trying to be fair and follow my own review script, this is the sort of tale that you won't find many fresh totally new ideas. It's friendship and love to a T.
The whole thing is a bit predictable, not many twists, but some angst along the way.
Really, who needs new, when you got perfection?
I don't love the cover. It's just ok! Being a cover slut, I have bought many books without even reading the blurb, this would not happen here. I like the colors but I cannot understand anything of the story looking at it. It's sweet, and usually I don't go to the too sweet love story.

Welcome to the burbs where you may enjoy casseroles that'll kill you and women that will stare at your men. by Zara

You MAY buy this book because you like romantic comedy; you SHOULD buy this book because you enjoy the author; you MUST read this book if you are looking for a masterfully written tale of friendship & love!!!

This was such a sweet story and a really nice read although it's not that much my cup of tea because it's an all pink and glitter kinda story. I have to say that I liked and enjoyed it more than the first book in this series because it was more focused on Zara's story and not so much on her friends though their life still takes a big part in this book. I really liked Hatcher and I would have liked for the guys to get a bigger part in it with their own POVs.

The story was mostly about Zara dealing with her new situation and wrapping her head around the idea of being pregnant and of having a baby soon. First she was in denial and then freaking out – hilarious. I enjoyed it a lot.

Zara's story was fun to read but sometimes it felt like she wasn't yet a grown-up though this might have been because everything went really fast for her - getting a boyfriend, settling down, getting married and knocked up, living in the suburbs - though the story showed just a small part of all this because we only got a short glimpse into her life.

While the time moves slowly forward, we get to know each of the girls story in this series. Though each book has the POV of one of the girls, the story of all of them are continuing and running along every book which is really nice because having read the first book I could now follow up with Morgan and Jayden's story.
Now I'm looking forward to Frankie's story because even though I think it will be a HEA I believe that it won't be a pretty story and a harder work for them to finally find together.

Sugary Sweets is Zara and Hatcher's story! This is the second installment in the "A Taste Of Love" series. I was quite surprised to learn that Zara and Hatcher's were the couple this book focused on. i was sure from the way the first book left off that this would be Frankie's story.

I loved Zara, she's quirky, hilarious, and fun. The banter she shares not only with Hatcher, but her close group of friends is so entertaining and humorous. The antics she gets up to, whilst pregnant had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion.

I really would have loved to have read Hatcher's point of view, and that is the only reason that I gave this book 4.5 stars rather than the 5. At times I felt he got a bit lost with Zara's big personality. I'm really looking forward to more of Zara, Frankie, Morgan and Natasha.

I loved how Zara's character develops, grows and matures over the course of the book. The characters in this book are endearing, and the plot is completely endearing and engaging.

I think one of my favorite parts of this book was the ending and look forward to the next installment in this series.

description

I fell in love with Zara and Hatcher in Frosted Sweets and was eager to find out what was going on behind the scenes with those two. I was so excited to discover they'd be the focus of this book!
I absolutely loved Zara and Hatcher as a couple. They have an undeniable connection. Their witty back and forth was both amusing and sexy. After they finally became a couple "officially", their relationship was a whirlwind and pretty intense. Progressing from secret rendezvous with non-stop banter to hot and heavy full out relationship. It was quite a journey to witness.
While the relationship between Zara and Hatcher was the focus of the story, the other ladies played a large role too. The dynamics of this group is so fun to witness. They all add different things to the story and add so much to each book. Dedicating so much time to them does detract a little from the main couple but it benefits the series as a whole and adds to the anticipation of the next book.
The dialogue seemed a bit unnatural, something I hadn't noticed in the first book. That being said, I did enjoy the character development, storyline, and inclusion of Morgan, Frankie, and Natasha's POV at the end.
This is such an entertaining series. Each character contributes to the story in their own way and future installments are set up perfectly! I am dying for Frankie's story. My chest hurt reading her parts of this book. I need to see where Wilson takes their story!!

Crystal's 5 Star Review
Having purchased and read Frosted Sweets, I was addicted to the series. I recommend reading the books in order because you are introduced to all of the characters and their stories in Frosted Sweets.

Zara never thought she would be in a relationship. She never acted like she wanted one, especially with Hatcher. She thought she would enjoy him while she could and then move on. That didn’t happen. Now married, pregnant, and living in the suburbs, her live is nowhere near what she expected it to be. Thankfully, her friends are there to provide moral support when she needs it.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series. The writing is funny, witty, and sharp. The characters are well rounded, and the type that stays with you long after you finish reading their story. I can’t wait for the next installment!

Oh Wow the stories that this crazy bunch of friends ha e is just amazing. Let's start of with Hatcher and Zara things seem to be going great for them until a accident occurs and sends everyone in a panic. But things will turn out great you just have to read to find out. Jayden and Morgan what more can we say about this couple will they finally get to where they need to be in their future with everything going on? Natasha and Diesel just where will the road lead them on their journey? Will Frankie finally see the light with what she had with Brody or will it be too late? This is a book about how most everyday friends and families run their lives straight and to the point and also crazy as hell!

This was a fun and funny book to read from the beginning. I was in tears laughing at some of the insanity that took place with Zara & Hatcher. These two are seriously crazy for each other, and yet slightly off their rockers as well ...... in a good way.

This group of friends is full of crazy times, love, laughs, and yet they can fight like any real family and friends do. They are such a realistic cast of characters, they seem like a group I would love to hang out with myself. The ladies are the at the core of this amazing group and without them supporting each other, cheering each other on, and truly loving each other, this group wouldn't be. At the same time, the men that are around them, they deserve some praise as well for putting up with the shenanigans and foolery that seem to follow these ladies everywhere.

While this is truly Zara & Hatchers story, we see so much of the others in their life (as well as in their own stories that start to come out) that I was looking at their behaviors and watching how they were acting wondering what was up with them as well ...... I swear somehow she got me inside Zara's head and I was camped out there for a bit.

Want a fun read?? A story about people you can't help but want to spend time with? People that you wish were real and available to just watch for a bit?? We jump straight back into the lives of these fabulous women and their men in the "A Taste Of Love Series". This is a Romantic Comedy series and this book follows on from Frosted Sweets, it will have you laughing and swooning all at the same time. You could read this as a standalone but i Highly recommend you read in order somethings you may feel slightly lost on. The next couple up in this sweet series is Zara and Hatcher, and what a couple we have with these two they come across as complete opposites but you couldn't wish for anyone better for them there quirky and they work. I'm not going to give all the details away as it will only spoil the read if you know everything that happens but i will say... We get a pregnant hormonal women who is slightly nutty when it comes to settling down and a loving husband who dotes on his nutty wife which leads to very funny moments and lovely sweet ones. The story with all the women works it flows the series is low on drama & angst which i liked but high on fun, sexyness, Friendship & Family which leads to a great read. One of thing i really do like is at the end of the book each of the four women get their own chapter of where there up to this part really adds to the book and gives an interesting twist to the end instead of an epilogue. I'm really looking forward to Frankie and Brody's book i'm thinking this one is going to be quite interesting!!!

Sugary Sweets is the second book in the Taste of Love Series. The series focuses on bakery owners Morgan and Zara and their tight-knit gang of friends. Zara and Hatcher’s one time wild and crazy sex-capades have left them with a permanent reminder of their fun. This second book is about Zara and Hatcher and their lives in the burbs as well as her pregnancy.

Zara isn’t cut out for suburbia, and she fights Hatcher tooth-and-nail to stay a city girl. She loves her baby and Hatcher, but she is not quite ready to let go of her single life. She and her gang of girls are there for one another through thick and thin, and right now, it is feeling pretty thin for several of them. Zara’s struggle with her changing body and hormones, Morgan’s planned expansion of the business, Natasha’s instant family, and Frankie’s unexplained move to the big city make for some interesting and varied storylines and future novels.

Hatcher is one of those awesome book boyfriends that you can’t help but love. He is patient, thoughtful, loving, and best of all…he cooks!

Sugary Sweets is a quick read that ends with several HEAs and promises of future HEAs that left my mouth watering for more of the Taste of Love series and Natasha and Frankie’s stories.
