Breaking the Seventh

Rate this book
He's hot, blue-eyed and butt naked.

Did I mention he's naked? And I've never seen the guy before in my life! So WHY is he doing the backstroke in my neighbor's pool?

Myles Bellamy may be a walking wet dream, but turns out he's got the temperament of a bull shark. And yet every time I clash with the new next-door Neanderthal, I find myself fantasizing about all the dirty things he could do to me. Really dumb on my part, considering the timing...

She's certifiably nuts.

I'm not kidding. That chick is wonkier than Willy’s chocolate factory. Between her head-banging music, smoke alarms going off during séances and the dog I'm pretty sure she trained to crap on my lawn, I'm about ready to give Leah Whitfield a piece of my mind. Or better yet, a piece of me. Because every time I catch her sunbathing in that barely-there bikini, my resolve turns to dust.

And her excuse for turning me down? Her birthday's coming up. According to Leah's weird and warped logic, that day is supposedly cursed.

See what I mean? I can't even...

Born and raised in rural Alabama, Allie Gail currently resides in sunny Florida with her very own blue-eyed Prince Charming and a hyperactive hamster named Toot-Toot. Always an avid reader, she took to her keyboard on a whim in 2012 and that was the last anyone ever saw of her. (Just kidding...I did venture out of the house that one time back in 2014, but only because I was tricked into it. Stupid hurricane.)

Her genres of choice are rom-com and paranormal romance, featuring goofy but headstrong heroines and the sexy, snarky men who love them. When she isn't busy obsessing over the lexicon of her latest project, Allie can usually be found snuggled up to her hubby watching cheesy B-movie horror, helping out with the family business or playing online RPG games while indulging her hopeless sugar addiction.

Fun facts – she loves the sound of thunder, can't stand coffee, is known to randomly start laughing in her sleep, and is irrationally creeped out by H.R. Pufnstuf. (Seriously, have you ever seen that thing? Why is its head so big? Agh!)

This is an absolute gem of a book it's funny, actually it's hilarious but it's also sweet yet sad in places.
It opens when Leah is 10 years old, it's her birthday and she's waiting not so patiently for her mum to get home from work so they can go to Sea World. This birthday is going to be the best she just knows it, parties haven't worked out that well for her in the past so this is a fresh start birthday wise. While she's waiting for her mother we get the highlights or should that be lowlights on some of her birthday disasters. The problem is Leah's mother chooses this day of all days to pack up and leave without a word to anyone leaving poor Leah on her birthday looking out of the window and dreaming of Sea World.
As the years go by not only Leah but all her family and friends grow to believe in her birthday curse and as a result she sequesters herself away on that day to suffer in silence.
I enjoyed this book so much it had me laughing to the point of tears on several occasions especially Leah's first meeting with Myles, her first Brazilian and .... oh the list just goes on and on.
From the blurb you'll have gathered that Leah is effervescent and completely nuts so when grumpy yet gorgeous Myles moves in next door sparks are bound to fly. The more time these two spend together the more attracted they become to each other but Leah knows she has to keep Myles at arms length at least until after her birthday but Myles is equally determined to prove to Leah that she's not cursed.
This book is hilarious and I'm seriously going have to check out other books from this author, it's taken me days to read this partly due to real life getting in the way but mainly because I generally do most of my reading in bed and I couldn't with this because I was laughing too much it was driving my husband crazy.
Because I've been so long reading this I'd forgotten it included an additional book so I was surprised when the epilogue appeared about half way in but that's my fault.
I will add that I very rarely give 5* but this book came very very close.

Leah Whitfield, 23, is a mostly care-free spirit except when it comes to one day out of the year. And that day is looming very soon. But in the meantime, she’s distracted by the man next door, Myles “Hung-like-a-Russian-Racehorse” Bellamy, 26.

“Oh long Johnson, is he ever hot!”

I’d have to agree with Leah on that sentiment. While at first he comes off as a little cranky, Myles is actually quite the prince. In the sea of manwhore billionaires and sport star romantic heroes, Myles is refreshing as simply an average guy (and *happy dance* not a manwhore), not looking for love, who happens to find it in his own backyard.

“‘If you’re wearing anything more than Chapstick, then you’re way overdressed for this party.’”

Leah is spunky and she holds her own when it comes to verbally sparring with Myles.

“‘Well, butter my biscuit! Did the jolly green jackass actually just pay me a compliment?’”

While on the surface she appears flighty, Leah’s actually quite perceptive. But then I probably already knew that. It turns out, I’ve met Leah before…

Having thoroughly enjoyed The Firefly Effect, I was delighted when I saw the author was releasing a new book, and it sounded just as cute and funny so I signed up for this one without even realizing that Leah was Shane’s step-sister who I’d hoped would get her own book. So I was quite delighted when I made the connection. And while you don’t have to read The Firefly Effect (but I recommend it for a fun and sexy read) to follow this one, it was nice to see Shane and Melanie make an appearance.

But back to Leah and Myles… they have lots of witty dialogue and the writing (told via their dual first person POV) is entertaining throughout.

“‘Figured maybe you were here for a bedtime story…’
‘Hey, I like stories. Do you know any?’
‘The ones I know would keep you up all night, little girl.’”

Their chemistry is apparent through their banter and while their sexual encounters are a slow burn in the making, the sexual tension is always simmering through the page. And when it comes to the action, Myles delivers in the dirty talking alpha department.

“‘I have a twelve-pack of condoms inside with your name written all over each and every one of them. And I have no intention of letting you go until that box and I are both empty.’”

There are a lot of cute, delightful moments. But the story is not just sweet, sexy, and humorous; the back-story provides an added depth, tugging at the reader’s heartstrings. I think ‘fate’ can be a hit or miss theme in a story, but the ways it’s executed in this one is a total hit. I didn’t see the one “connection” coming, but it left a smile on my face.

I most definitely recommend it to romantic readers looking for a lighted-hearted, low angst, safe, and fun read where love and laughs are in the journey of getting to know one another. I sure hope to see more like it, and particularly that the two other Bellamy brothers get their own books.

This was the 100th book I've read for the year 2017 and it was bloody magnificent!! This was one of the funniest and sexiest books I have EVER read. It's definitely made it to my Best of 2017 pile and I can't wait to add the paperback to my bookshelves.

Leah and Myles, individually, were hilarious. Put these two characters together and they were hysterical. I choked so many times so please don't drink anything while reading this! I couldn't stop laughing. There were so many times I had to re-read parts because I was busy laughing and missed the point! If I wasn't laughing I was swooning over Myles or fanning myself over their intimate moments. *wink*

BREAKING THE SEVENTH was basically about two people who were absolutely fine on their own but were amazingly terrific together. The title itself refers to Leah's birthday (July 7th) and the many awful birthdays (what she views as a curse) she's endured and her 24th one is coming up. Although it touches on serious issues, such as abandonment, overall it was a surprisingly light read. I did say it was funny, right? Well-written and delightfully entertaining, I was sad to see this story come to an end. However, I'm happy that I took a chance on an author that is new to me and that it paid off so well. Allie Gail's got a new fan right here!!

So this author is brand new to me but as soon as I read that blurb I was intrigued. Not just because of the naked sexy man in the swimming pool (although that was a huge selling point) but also because of the possibility of a funny and unique leading lady.

And that is exactly what I got. I loved every word of this story. It was different from what I was expecting since I had this idea that Leah was going to be a new age, flake that would make me laugh but who I wouldn’t be able to relate to in any way. And Myles sounded kinda like he had a stick in his arse so I expected there to be a lot of comedy when these two collided.

Myles had the perfect mix of growly, possessive alpha and sweet, sensitive caring guy to absolute perfection. I loved his brand of sarcasm and watching him fall for Leah and come to terms with her and her crazy friends. While Leah was just crazy, she was also so beautiful I couldn’t help but love her. There was so much sweet and funny in this story and I loved every second.

I did get quite a few giggles from both of these characters and I couldn’t put the book down. But what I didn’t expect was how much I genuinely liked them both and couldn’t wait to see how things were going to play out for them. The secondary characters were great and I really enjoyed the writing.

Now I am off to stalk Allie Gail and see if she has any more books for me to run off and one click.

I read "The Firefly Effect" by this author and loved it very much. This book's heroine Leah was a side character in that one. She was a nut case but a sweet and likable one. Therefore, I wanted to read her story when I learnt that "Breaking the Seventh" was about her.

***********************************************

Well, "The Firefly Effect" was my type of romance but this wasn't. This book heavily relies on sexual attraction and off-the-charts crazy talk. It is funny and sexy but it didn't make me feel much. There were also parts where I got bored and skimmed/scanned a bit to go through.

***********************************************

Myles is the new neighbor that moves into the house next to Leah's. Personally, I didn't like that Leah accepted skinny dipping in his pool even before they were friends. I also didn't like him flashing his goods to Leah every chance he got. Two strangers naked in the same pool is not my ideal way of starting a romance.

Besides, there was too much of junk talk - how big it is, blah bla... Those parts are the ones I disliked reading.

However, there were parts I really liked and laughed a lot. The banter between them is mostly fun but sometimes it is too crazy how their minds work.

Another thing that didn't set well with me is how fast their anger and hatred turns into friendship.

***********************************************

All in all, it was a sweet story and a nice quick read. If you like OTT crazy characters with a good sense of humor and if you like steamy fun reads, this may appeal to you more. I just need my romance to be more emotional and I prefer heroines that are less crazy, I guess, that's why, it was just Ok for me...

***********************************************

SAFETY:

No cheating, no OW/OM drama.
No separation.
Once they are together, no push away but at first, the hero tries to get rid of her whereas the heroine is a bit more eager to spend time with him than he is with her. So, we can't say he is the chaser. He also appears to be an arrogant jerk at the beginning. But once he understands he is enjoying her crazy and developing feelings for her, he is all-sweet and swoon-worthy. And he even tries to match her crazy with his own :)

***********************************************

What does the title mean?

The title of the book, "Breaking the Seventh" means getting rid of the curse she believes there is on her birthday, July 7th, when bad things always happen to her. So much so that she hides at home now and doesn't celebrate her birthday. With the help of Myles, they break the seventh and the curse is finally gone - happy end :)

“The only sure thing about luck is that it will change.”

***

I know what you’re trying to do.”
Not sure where she’s headed with this, but I’ll bite. “What am I trying to do?”
“You’re trying to get me to quit my job so I can’t pay my mortgage and then I have to move away and you end up with disgustingly normal neighbors with names like Ted and Beulah who have perfect teeth and drive fuel efficient hybrids and wear His and Hers aprons when they barbecue and listen to their Barry Manilow at an acceptable level.”
I burst out laughing at her ridiculously long-winded accusation. “Beulah?”
“Yep.” She grins cheerfully.
Shrugging, I raise my hands in defeat. “You caught me. I have to admit, that’s exactly what I was trying to do. Get rid of you, since it has always been my deepest heartfelt desire to live next door to Ted and Beulah Wangdangle.”

***

“You called me over here to get rid of a spider?”
Without taking her eyes off it, she nods her head. “That’s not just any spider. I think he musta hijacked his way here from the Congo. Look how big he is!”
I can’t help but grin facetiously. “If you’ve got a problem with big, sweetheart, then you’ve probably called the wrong person.”

***

“Well, I’m sorry to see that the surgery was a failure.”
“What surgery?”
“You know, the operation to remove the stick from your ass. I hate to tell you this but it’s definitely still lodged up there.”

***

"How about keeping your animals off my property.”
“Animal.”
“What?”
“Animal, not animals. Singular. Charlie here is an only child.”
He gives me a look that suggests I would be more suited to a mental ward than running loose in suburbia. “Lady, that there’s a dog, in case you haven’t noticed. Not a child.”
“I know that. But he doesn’t.”

***

Leah carefully unwinds it and lifts the necklace so the charm is dangling between us.
“Symmetry,” I attempt to explain. “Opposing forces that are interconnected. Like night and day. Fire and water. Good and evil. Meaning that for every negative thing that happens, something good has to happen to counterbalance the bad.”
She fingers it thoughtfully. “So you’re saying it’s sort of like a good luck charm?”
Taking it from her hands, I fasten the clasp around her neck. “More like a reminder that there’s never any loss without some gain.”
She eyes me with trepidation, misunderstanding my meaning. “And you. Are you to be a loss or a gain?”
“Well, I hope you view me as a gain.” I lift my chin and announce with a grandiose flair, “Personally, I think I’m quite the catch.”
Laughing, she throws her arms around my neck and squeezes me in a tight hug. “Personally, I’d have to agree. Thank you, Myles. I love it.”

Read an EXCERPT

Oooh ladies if you enjoy your hot steamy romance with a side of crazy and humor (or just crazy humor) then this is the book for you. What drew me first to this book was DEFINITELY the blurb. It is DEFINITELY eye-catching!!! Go ahead scroll up and read it again, I'll wait... Done? Good! If any of Allie Gail's books are fun gems like this then I will surely be picking up more books.

Leah Whitfield is definitely an insane chick who I'm pretty sure doesn't know boundaries of society. In real life, I would probably drown her in Myles Bellamy's pool but thankfully this is book world so reading about her shenanigans is quite hilarious. Although I would probably do it just so I would have Myles Bellamy all to myself. Hot, moody, Neanderthal next door... YES PLEASE!

She's like the collectible toy that isn't supposed to leave the box. And me? Inevitably I'll sneak her off the shelf and play with her anyway, consequences be damned. I always was a naughty boy.

From the moment that two find themselves in the same pool (Leah trespassing to take a dip and Myles taking a skinny dip in his pool... in his NEW house) they develop an irresistible push and pull of attraction. As always things are not as easy as they should be. Someone is always watching their heart and delaying the inventible joining of two people who are CLEARLY (to us readers only of course) meant to be together. The perfect yin/yang situation, which is exactly how you can describe Leah and Myles. Where Myles is super serious and practical, Leah is a hilarious mess (in a good way).

"I taste like cedar?"

"Uh-huh"

How would you even know what cedar tastes like, goober? What, you gnaw on wood on a regular basis?"

"I doubt you'd want me to gnaw on your wood..."

Why a mess? I know it sounds like a bad thing but the reason why I say that is tied completely to the title of the book. I won't mention what it is but the story does go into more serious and in a way truly sad territory, which adds more characters and complexity to the story. So on top of it being well written with loads of burst out loud hilarious moment this book just gives enough to turn this Pinocchio-type of story into a Real life situation.

So take a chance on this book and on this author... if you have not done so you won't be sorry. Swear!

This was a fun read by a new to me author. The blurb is what immediately attracted me to this story. It sounded like a hot, funny read. Let's be honest, I can never get enough of them. This story didn't disappoint.

When Myles moved into his new home, he never thought to question his neighbors. Not until his next door neighbor invites herself over to his pool one evening without so much as a word. Not only did she get a mouthful, she also got an eyeful.

I couldn't get enough. Allie Gail knocked this one out of the park. With wit, a feisty (and certifiably crazy) heroine, and a super sexy (and temperamental) hero, I couldn't put it down. When the end came I found myself wanting more. Yet, at the same time, I thought it couldn't have ended any better.

This was a wonderful story. A young woman, frequently uses the neighbour's swimming pool, as they have re-located temporarily, or so she thinks. One night she wanders on to the property, towel in hand & is greeted by a not so friendly "hot" guy...apparently the new home owner. In the beginning, even a welcome wagon couldn't cheer this guy up (Myles) but secretly he is very attracted to Leah. I loved both of the main characters. Leah, a tad quirky, superstitious, a little lost, kind, thoughtful & insecure due to past relationships. The story involving her mother will break your heart. Myles, a web
designer is handsome, kind, funny & was also burned from a past relationship. I love how a friendship developes between these two, the inner dialogue is spot on & each one hesitates before making a move, hoping it won't bring everything to a full stop. No cliff-hanger & a very happy ending.

This book has been on my “want to read” list since 2017.
I finally got around to reading and finishing it today.
I really like the type of characters this author cultivates; I’ve also read the FireFly effect, I believe in 2016. The details are hazy.

The chemistry is undeniable. The leads typically raise each other’s hackles up the wrong way at first but it quickly dissolves into them wanting to spend time with each other.

He's her new next-door neighbour, and he believes she's completely insane. She's a kooky, out-of-the-box thinker. They both flirt with each other and try to press each other's buttons. They become boyfriend and girlfriend; there isn't a single source of conflict throughout the novel, except from the heroine's wariness of men but she dives in with both feet into this relationship anyway.

There’s no love declaration - we get a “I think I’m falling for you”, bam an epilogue which featured a letter written to her mother that abandoned her at ten years old. And that’s it, so that’s the reason why it gets 3 stars.

Safe: both have inconsequential exes that pop up in the book.

I took a gamble with the book and author considering this is my first introduction to this author's work but if this book is anything to go by on her style of writing... then I am already hook, line and sinker. Breaking the Seventh was a brilliantly penned romantic comedy with plenty of laughs, smiles, one-liners and steam to keep me capitvated and glued to these words, cover to cover.

Who knew a case of trespassing and skinny dipping would forever change the course of these two people's lives...

Myles and Leah were so fun.... unique, quirky and relatable in so many ways. Dude, these two had me in tears and belly aches from laughing so hard. While their story was unconventional and so different in so many ways, I would not change one single moment. Their journey was so unforgettable but only in the best ways possible.

And that letter at the end? The perfect closure this story and our girl Leah needed

If you are looking for light, sweet, sexy, and laugh out loud hilarious then I promise on all that is holy, you won't regret getting this book today.

I highly recommend this book.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, crazy chick, Neanderthal, and heartbreak.

This is Leah and Myles’s story. First time Leah sees Myles he is naked in her neighbor’s pool. She is getting ready to celebrate her birthday soon and can’t be distracted. Her birthday is cursed or so she thinks. This is turn makes her look and sound crazy. But the banter back and forth between these two will keep you laughing through the entire story. Myles was not looking for love but he found it in the most unlikely place. I mean he thinks Leah is crazy but falls for her anyway. Leah thinks he is a Neanderthal but fall for him regardless. But will the love last if her birthday is so cursed?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Breaking the Seventh by Allie Gail
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
Holy funny!! I read the blurb and knew I needed this book!!
This story is about Lean and Miles. Leah is a freak out over the 7th day of July. She feels that her birthday is totally a bad day. Now she totally has every reason to boycott her birthday but still she comes across totally nuts…but in a good way!!
Miles is her neighbor who happens to get caught with his pants down LITERALLY one night. Miles was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed his character. I guess you gotta be pretty awesome to handle the hot mess express of Leah!! LOL

Fun, sexy, sweet, and everything that attracts me to a good book. This enemies to lover's romance was one that made me smile and giggling while reading it. The characters were all one's I wanted to spend time with. It was one of those stories you just wanted to be a part of, and one you wish didn't have to end.

Myles is Leah's new neighbor, and they meet while she decides to take a swim in his pool. She doesn't know he's moved in so there is a little tension, well a maybe more than a little. He's not happy to find her in his backyard, but immediately their connection and witty banter began. It's a love-hate relationship, and they both seem to find to be drawn to one another. Both are extremely happy being single, but when they are together they just fit together. I wouldn't say that it was love at first sight, but once these two get to know one another; they realize they actually like each other. They started off on the wrong foot, and as they get things figured out they are great together. Leah has some issues. She's had some bad luck when it comes to love, so she isn't optimistic when it comes to happily ever after's. She is just waiting for things to fall apart between her and Myles, and when it doesn't is when things get really interesting.

The inner dialogue has to be my favorite part from the book. These two had some very amusing quirks, that we get to learn about. There is immediate attraction, so there are some hilarious thoughts every time they are near one another, It made me laugh out loud while reading.

Breaking The Seventh is about two people who are perfectly fine being alone, but amazingly happy together. Some things you never realize you want until it's standing right in front of you. This sweet and sexy romance is a perfect read if you are looking for a lift me up then definitely pick this one up. I love this author's writing, and am looking forward to more books in the future.

Absolutely loved this one. Two delightful characters who deserved their happy ever after.
Leah was a little paranoid about her birthday and who can blame her, her bitch of a mother left her when she was 10.
But she grows and becomes a strong young woman with a supportive father and step family.
In next door, moves Myles, alittle grumpy at first, but who is connected to Leah in way that we don't find out until aways through the book - delightful.
I loved the laughs and lack of inanely stupid young women many books seem to have.

Thank you Ms Gail I'm off to find another of yours .
On my top ten for 2017 so far.

This is the first book I have read by this author. I really enjoyed the book. It was funny, with great characters. There didn't have to be any angst because the characters were good enough to keep you interested. I would definitely recommend it for romance readers. I do have to say I hate the cover. I found it a turn off that is hiding a good book.

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book.**

I laughed. I cried. I blushed. I loved this book!

Leah's birthday is cursed and she can prove it. It all started when she was a child and her long-awaited birthday trip turned sour. Ever since, she's noticed a trend of terrible incidents occurring on that one day of the year. So what's a girl to do, other than lock herself inside her house and hunker down until the dreaded day passes.

That is, until a new guy moves in next door and tempts Leah in ways she could never have imagined. Myles is a self-employed website developer with no patience for the likes of Leah and her crazy antics. He's fresh from a terrible relationship and doesn't need the temptation of the girl next door even though she's the most adorable thing he's ever seen.

After an accidental meeting leaves the pair annoyed, they continue to find ways to irritate one another. This friendly banter soon turns to sexual tension thick enough to cut with a machete. And the only way to ease it would be to give in to their desire, though the chemistry between them just might cause an explosion. That would be just Leah's luck, too.

This book was a blast to read, from start to finish. Leah was a quirky breath of fresh air with such a fantastic personality that was infectious. Myles was a bit stiff in the beginning. *chuckle* But soon he warmed up to Leah and the spark between them turned to a flame that left me fanning myself over and over.

The romance was hot and actually more slow-burning than you might think. It wasn't rushed or forced in any way. Watching our couple's relationship blossom was as natural as if I was in the room with them. It was entirely believable and amazingly steamy.

There are a few flashbacks that give a glimpse into the reason why Leah thinks her birthday is cursed. I must say that I was so heartbroken while reading what young Leah went through. I may have shed a tear or two while reading it.

In closing...
This was such a fantastic story filled with humor, intriguing characters, and chemistry that was off the charts. Five suns!

I fell in love with her writing style, the fluidity of the story, the great characters, both main and secondary ones.

If you are in need to read something funny, hilarious, witty, lighthearted and again, hilarious, this book is definitely for you!

I loved both Leah and Myles. They are definitely made for each other, one crazier that the other :P
I had so much fun getting to know them, reading about their adventures, because their lives are definitely super interesting! With personalities like theirs, how couldn't they be?

I laughed so much reading about their first encounter, sparks flying immediately between them.
And I have to do a special mention to the amazing Joe and the funniest dog on earth, Charlie! They were such great characters, and made this story even more special.

What I loved about this book is that yes, it's so much funny and crazy hilarious, but it's not only this, is also more. Because the flashbacks to Leah's past were heartbreaking and written amazingly, it was like I was there, living these difficult moments with her. And for who is going to read this book ( and I hope many will because you definitely won't regret it), the second flashback will give you goosebumps, will make you feel so many emotions. And the scene at the diner.... No words <3

Sooo, great job Allie! I can't wait to read more books by you!

This was my first book from Allie Gail and I'm psyched I found it because I thought Breaking the Seventh was amazing. Moment to moment, I was either laughing out loud or swooning hard. I loved the characters and their connection!

Myles and Leah kick off their friendship in an highly amusing and memorable way. From that point on, you'll find yourself unable to look away from their developing relationship thanks to their fun and wickedly entertaining connection. These two are seriously hilarious - it creates an awesome reading experience.

As their story unfolded, the main characters became more and more engaging. Leah is a little crazy but it's endearing and cute - so I found myself just as bewitched by her as Myles was. And then there is Myles ... he is so freaking charming. I couldn't get enough of him.

I thought their chemistry both in and out of bed was incredible. It gave credibility to the storyline and it left me rooting this duo on. You just like Myles and Leah. You can't help it - which isn't always the case with romance books.

That's why I would highly recommend meeting Myles and Leah. They were spectacular characters and their romance was off the charts hot. Definitely add Breaking the Seventh to your must read list.

This was a fast paced snarky story laced with sexual innuendos .... hilarious interactions, quick witted all geared toward the finale of sex! A fun read but exhausting also!

I love, love, love this book. The quirky, funny girl meets a funny, solitary guy. Their adventures are a riot - and then there’s the sex. Another book for laughing out loud!

Kept my attention

I liked the characters. They seemed real to me. There was just enough 'oddness' to make it more realistic. I found myself drawn in to see what Leah would do. I would encourage others to enjoy this book.

Fun, sexy worthwhile read.

I really enjoyed Leah and Myles' story. The banter and exchange between them was hot, funny and sexy.

When Myles moves in next door to Leah, the fireworks start on both their parts. Leah has a sharp tongue and a sharper wit, and Myles is a wicked, deep voiced seducer. I loved them both so much.

The attraction between the two builds and I enjoyed how they interacted with one another and the way the author kept me hanging with suspense of would they or wouldn't they become friends to lovers.

Very enjoyable read.

This is the first book I have read by Allie Gail and I must say I am disappointed. This story just felt rushed to me. After reading the blurb I was excited to read this but felt like I missed something, maybe there was a book before this or something.
Leah is free spirited and was been disappointed in the boyfriend department. Then she has feelings for her neighbor Myles. Her birthday is coming up and she hides because she fears something bad will happen on that day. I am not really sure why, we don't really get any indication of why she believes this is true. There were so many times I felt like I missed the "why" behind things. Like when Myles takes Leah to meet his grandfather. His grandfather claims Myles has no money because of the last women in his life cleaned him out, but yet Myles seems to be able to afford things.

This book had so much potential I just felt like to author rushed to get this book done. She could have given us more background on both of their lives and their actual relationship.

Loved this!

This book turned out to be incredibly funny and surprisingly poignant...not to mention very sexy. The characters just jump off the pages and grab hold of the reader. I loved every minute I spent within the pages. Highly recommend.

Like many reviews, I'm not gonna leave hints for what the story entails because you have to give the author some credit and read it yourself. Just like The Firefly Effect, Breaking the Seventh was an amazingly lighthearted read with a lot of funny moments but what it had was a very deep message behind the carefree banter of the main protagonists. What I loved about the book was the wily and funny comments that Leah passed Myles was hilarious but what was awesome was the way their chemistry smoldered.
Allie Gail has done it again with another of her standalone novels. My first of her novels was "The Winter's Touch" and since then, she hasn't failed to amaze me by her awesome novel writing skills. Whether it's romantic comedy or dark paranormal romance, she is a talent to behold.
I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

A young woman, Leah, who felt her birthday was cursed, due due a lot of weird and bad things occurring on that date, is proved wrong by her new neighbor. This neighbor, Myles, gets off on the wrong foot with Leah, when she uses his pool, not realizing that the property had been sold, and she no longer had rights to use the facilities.
The backstory is fascinating, as it is how the walk out by a mother on her daughter's 8th birthday, has caused the child to distort the calamities that occur on a daily basis, to that of a curse for that particular date.
A very involved and at times amusing story.

This was the appropriate length, but I still wanted more.

Quirky Leah has a new neighbor who's a little cranky. Myles has moved back to town after a horrible relationship where the woman stole a lot of money from him. Leah's had a few issues herself. And while she makes some poor choices in her life, she's pretty independent and strong.

Melanie and Shane make an appearance, but really this is about Leah and her issues with her birthday and her mom. Myles is pretty awesome and her friends are quirky enough that I want to read more.

I wanted more after it abruptly ended. The epilogue was awful. but I could have used more. What does Leah end up doing with her life (besides Myles)? I wanted some wrap up and some extra I love you's never hurt either.
