I mostly read romance novels these days – though I enjoy books of every genre – so I’m used to ‘falling in love’ with the hero. But Liza O’Connor’s books have made me see that it can be totally different too. I usually grow to love her heroines, no matter to which genre her latest book belongs. Be it “Worst Week Ever”, “Luck Be An Angel”, “A Scavenger’s Mission”, “A Fortune To Die For”, “The Troublesome Apprentice” or any other of her novels, her strength lies in writing a leading lady the reade ...more

Rana's parents are dead and at sixteen she must rule. She has to stop war at her gates and their is deceit everywhere she turns. Not knowing who she can trust she relies on her own powers that are unknown to those around her. Now she must wed a man she does not know but she will do anything for her people, even give up on love.

This book sucked me in from the beginning and I couldn't stop reading. I loved how Rana learned and grew

Rana never expected to become queen so soon. Yet, she always had all the strength she needed to become one of the best queen's of all time.

At the age of sixteen, I was more worried about boys than ruling a country or making sure my people were safe from war. I didn't understand how people could say mean things or act out behind my back. Yet at sixteen, Rana understood how to be a leader at a time when so many of her "so called friends" were really out to get her. Rana could look inside a person

At 16 Rana has just become Queen of Stronghold when her parents are killed. Now her life is about to get turned upside down as she must learn who is on her side and who is against her. Rana must put her kingdom first and score as many alliances as possible, even if it means getting married to a complete stranger.

This was a great book and super interesting with Rana's abilities. Rana was a character that you loved right away as she was so unselfish and really was willing to do anything for her ki

This is a really sweet and clean fairy tale that takes place on the other planet.
What do we have in our minds at age of 16 - for sure nothing about ruling and being a Queen.
At this circumstances Rana Discovers new position, emotions, relationships and her powers as she can do more than she is thought by people.
Plot was very twisted at some pointa and that made this read even more enjoyable.
Characters were usually full, but there were some that were only one sided - black od white. Rana sometimes

Liza lives in Denville, NJ with her dog Jess. They hike in fabulous woods every day, rain or shine, sleet or snow. Having an adventurous nature, she learned to fly small cessnas in NJ, hang glide in New Zealand, kayak in Pennsylvania, ski in New York, scuba dive with great white sharks in Australia, dig up dinosaur bones in Montana, sky dive in Indiana, and raft a class four river in Tasmania.
