Rate this book
There is hope, but first you must find it. Jon Ryan has saved humanity time and again. But he is called upon by fate to once again defend his species. As He prepares for an horrific war with the vicious and ruthless Berrillians, a new, more deadly threat arises. A mythical race know as the Last Nightmare enters our universe, intent of destroying it. They have consumed twelve universes in the infinite past they've lived. So far, no force has been able to even slow their conquest. The annihilation of everything looks to be a certainty.
As the last hope to combat the indomitable threat, an alliance is made between old friends and bitter enemies. Every civilization realizes that defeat is so certain that only such a cooperation might stop the Nightmare. Humans are gifted the fantastic technologies to walk among the stars to help in the fight. To be so close to a magical era for humanity yet so likely to perish is a crushing weight. Can Jon pull one more miracle out of his hat?

I claim three great accomplishments in my life: my family, my medical career, and my writing.  They are in, I am certain, their proper order.  My family, includes my perfect wife Karen, my wonderful children (adults now) Chris and Kim, my sweet grandson Jonathan. And now you! From family, I draw strength, love, and meaning.  What humbling gifts.  I am almost as proud of my incredible career as a physician (no, not that I'm incredible, it's that the journey was).  I'm an Internest and have worked in ER's, hospitals, clinics, homes, and most places between.  What a rush!  When I say it's an honor and a privilege to be a doctor, I truly mean it.  My writings, provide me a powerful creative outlet and so warms my soul directly.  In my wilder dreams, I hope my writing is of sufficient merit and so benefit you too in an impactful manner.
Know me by what I love: Dickens, Orwell, and Bradbury; Milton, Donne, and Blake; Coltrane, Davis, and Desmond; Picasso, Michelangelo, and Renoir; Astronomy, Biology and Geology; Doctor Who, Star Trek (original TV), and Doctor Who (yeah, I love it that much); Avedon, Doisneau, and Arbus; burger and fries, coc au vin, and pizza-pizza-pizza.  Have I left anything important to me out?  Just one, the most important: God.  I'm an ex-Catholic wondering if churches are device of men and are necessary at all.  More importantly, I wish I spent more time seeing His wonder in the world (I'm not evangelizing, just passing along info; this is a bio, n'est pas?).  Oh, and this has never come up, but there used to be a series of magazine ads where sexy looking people were asked a series of questions about what they liked.  A standard query was: "What's your favorite word?"  So, this really stuck with me (I know, I need to get out more, don't I) and now I can tell someone, you, my favorite word.  Oneself!  I love it.  It means 'on your own' right, but it also refers to the elf you own!  Brilliant word.  Now, where'd I put that elf.......

Jon Ryan yet again finding himself at war with an alien nation while also dealing with a family issue!
These books have become addictive and so well read I enjoy each saga we're taken through.
Jon is human in all his flaws he tries to cope with each new thing sent his way and his sense of humour is hilarious his conversations with his AI alone make me chuckle.
I need more please

So I have to write another book, but my little kitty cat antagonists don't seem threatening enough, now that my hero has become infinitely powerful. I know, I'll fall back on the tried and tested, I'll add yet another existential threat! How about one that will not only end this universe but has already ended 12 universes! Oh and I'll take the super stand-offish, hyper aloof tripods and make them super friendly, and they'll somehow know about the new nightmare, and in response will GIVE ALL THEIR TECH to the humans... because, well why not?

Of course when you then rapidly beat the nightmare (really more a case of a bit too much bedtime cheese) where do you go next? Why, bring back the kitties of course!

The problem of writing yourself out of corners is that you quickly become a self-parody. There is no threat left, there is nowhere left to go.

Still moving at a good pace

However, the grammatical and spelling errors are becoming glaring. Who does your editing? You need someone better and quick. Otherwise, the story flows well

Never Stops Getting Better

The further development of the characters over long time frames is astounding. Mixing in New characters from different planets takes great ability. Onward to last book in this series. Excellent ending greatly anticipated!!!

Fun easy read

The sci part of the sci fi gets a bit funky in this one. But if you've gotten this far, hell you know you're going to love it. Some authors would benefit from some additional editing, but Jon would say that's just lipstick on a pig...lol
Thanks Craig! I'm impressed with your impressive speed, still a fan 5 books in, keep it up.
