An avid reader from the time when words on paper began to make sense, she developed a lively imagination of her own, making up stories for the entertainment of her young friends. After leaving school, she tried a variety of jobs, including dental nursing, and a spell in the Women's Royal Airforce from which she emerged knowing a whole lot more about life - if only as an observer.
In 1960, she married with Tony, but didn't begin thinking about trying her hand at writing for a living until she gave up work some four years later to have a baby, John. Having read Mills & Boon novels herself, and done some market research in the local library asking readers what it was they particularly liked about the books, she decided to aim for a particular market, and was fortunate to have her very first, completed manuscript accepted - The Last of the Mallorys, published in 1968. Since then she has written over seventy five books, which doesn't begin to compare with the output of some Mills & Boon authors, but still leaves her wondering where all those words came from.
Sometimes, she finds she has become two different people: the writer at her happiest when involved in the world of books and authors; and the housewife, turning her hands to the everyday needs of husband and son. Once in a while, she finds it difficult to step from one role to the other. She likes cooking, for instance, but she finds that it can be an irritating interruption when she's preoccupied with work on a novel, so the quality of her efforts in the kitchen tend to be a little erratic. She says, "As my husband once remarked, my writing gives life a fascinating element of uncertainly: one day a perfect coq au vin, the next day a couple of burned chops!"
Luckily Kay has daily professional help with her housework, and that leaves her time to indulge in her hobbies. Like many other Mills & Boon authors, she admits to being a voracious consumer of books, a quality she shares with her readers. She likes music and horseback riding, which she does in the countryside near her home. But her favorite hobby is travel - especially to places that will make good settings for her books.
Kay now lives on the outskirts of Chesterfield in Derbyshire, along with husband, Tony, and a huge tabby cat called Mad Max, her one son having flown the coop. Some day she'll think about retiring, but not yet awhile.

meh.....Things just weren't quite right.
Though I wouldn't categorize the heroine as TSTL, she certainly didn't have much of a backbone or common sense.
She jumps into bed with a man she just meets. Marries him for lust rather than love (her own words). Believes him capable of harboring a mistress and child simply because he felt the woman was socially beneath him. Yet refuses to leave him because she will miss out on the sex.
The hero on the other hand, listens to his vicious sister in-law about his wife's infidelity without any evidence other than the man happens to be on the same flight as her.
These two weren't really worth the investment of my time.

Not the best K.T. I’ve read; The South American’s Wife starts with Karen waking up in the hospital with partial amnesia, with a sexy hunk, Luiz who informs her they’re married. (as is standard, the amnesia only encompasses her time w/ the H) She quickly figures out that Luiz thinks she betrayed him, and the marriage is on shaky ground. We’ve seen this before ( a‘ la The Greek's Unknown Bride ) and it’s really nothing new here. The meddling OW comes in the form of her SIL, and I wish this would have been developed more, because it didn’t really make a ton of sense, or generate much drama the way it read. I’m fuzzy on why Luiz would have believed her, and she mostly sat on the fringes gives disapproving, snarky looks.
It’s a smidge choppy, Karen gets her memory back at 60%, and then we’re immediately thrown into the past with them meeting, then back to the present. IMO, this was jarring and didn’t flow.
Bottom Line Ok, but nothing great. The couple figures out what’s going on…the meddlers get some off-page comeuppance, and there’s an epilogue several years in the future.

Karen and Luiz Andrade are married for a few months after a whirlwind courtship – literally one week knowing each other. She ran off one day after getting some devastating news and he believes she left w/ OM. Of course she then gets into an accident and is injured w/ partial amnesia, and the OM is nowhere to be found. But Luiz will take his estranged wife back home and try to make a go at it because marriage is forever . . . doncha know?!
Luiz wasn’t a bad guy, but he did believe other people rather than looking for some solid evidence. Luiz also liked to keep things from his wife and by keeping his secrets he opened them up to hurt and manipulations by outside parties who only had their own best interests at heart. Karen believed at times that she may have cheated on her handsome hubby, but somehow she knew that didn’t sound like her either. So she has to regain her memory and get to the bottom of this mystery.
Karen believed other people as well rather than speaking to her husband, but seriously he should have told her. I suppose it looked bad that she was meeting w/ OM, but after he accuses her she does explain that . . . okay after she accuse him about OW he explains as well. I WANTED to see SIL get hers though. Didn’t want to read that he took care of her I wanted to see her try to wiggle out of it or at least admit to her part in the whole thing.
Karen ran off because she believed that Luiz had a child w/ OW and that he was frequently seeing them when he was out that way. In Karen’s defense she was still suffering the loss of her child w/ Luiz and she didn’t think things through nor confront him. It was easier to be manipulated and believe the worst of Luiz. And it was nice that Luiz never really forgave his mother too for her part in the problems in his marriage.

I like stories with Hero or heroin suffering amnesia, but unfortunately, this is not one of the best I’ve read, because what is revealed belongs to the usual developments in HP. Nothing extraordinary or imaginative.
There are two things that prevent a good harmony between Hero and heroine. There is evidence that before the accident heroine was abandoning Hero with another man.
And then there is another fact, furnished by the Hero’s mother, that is demolishing. But we only learnt about it towards the end, so it looses much effect, as the reader is not subjected to intense feelings for a long time, when identifying with heroine.

Waking up in a Rio hospital bed, Karen has no idea how she got there. And when Luiz Andrade introduces himself as her husband, Karen is shocked and bewildered.
Though Luiz claims she betrayed him, they rediscover their intense mutual passion and Karen is convinced she could never have been an unfaithful wife. So what is the secret that Luiz isn't telling her?

Él: No.

Yawn. Another amnesia story. But the reason for the low rating is he has zero trust. All she has to do is talk to another guy and he's convinced she's having an affair.
She has amnesia and cannot say why she was running away nor explain why one ranch hand was on the same flight, but why should he believe the sister in law's stupid accusations? Heroine said about 4 words to the ranch hand and from that sister in law could embroider a whole tapestry?

A nice story but just so lacking in passion. Has a nice plot; a possessive sexy Alpha male; a naive amnesiac wife; jealous sister-in-law with a 'I want your man' attitude; a hired other man; and a beautiful ranch setting makes for nice read.
