The first book in the brand-new spin off from the Internationally Bestselling Black Shamrocks MC series is here.

"You know how the story ended. Now, it's time to learn how it all began..."

Prospecting for the Black Shamrocks MC once Colin "Conan" Blake finished school was a no-brainer.

His best friends were prospecting.

His father was a ranking member.

Hell, every man he knew was part of the MC.

The only thing the Club wanted in return for a lifetime of brotherhood was unquestioning loyalty. It was that straightforward. Patching in meant he vowed to put the needs of the Black Shamrocks in front of everything else—even his own desires.

He thought it would be easy. He was certain nothing could come between him and his brothers.

That was until he met her.

Conan was the first book in the Black Shamrocks First Generation series by Kylie Hillman. It was my first book by the author.

Cole was a legacy prospect within the Black Shamrocks MC. His father was the Sergeant At Arms but even a legacy had to prove himself and be voted in unanimously. He had been a prospect for a year and was hoping to be patched in any day. Then he met her.

Coleen had a great life until her parents were killed in an auto accident. From that point on, her life evolved around protecting her little sister until Coleen turned eighteen.

Hillman set the stage not only for the book, but for the series through showing us Cole and his best friends, three other legacy prospects. Hillman then took us through a storyline involving an MC conflict that introduced Coleen.

I enjoyed both Cole and Coleen as well as the storyline; however, I wanted more depth into the MC conflict. Hopefully we’ll see more development throughout the series. Otherwise, it was well written, entertaining and had me turning the pages non stop to keep up. Vic aka Viking is up next and I can’t wait!

Conan I loved it! Book 1 in the spin off series about the first generation Black Shamrocks MC by Kylie Hillman was absolutely fantastic. I am a huge Black Shamrock fan and adored the journey I took with Mik, Timber, Benji, Joel, Lainey and JJ so these books hold a special place in my heart.

We kick off the series with Timber’s old man Colin “Conan” Blake and his extremely early days as a prospect for the club. Conan is a total legend. His personality doesn’t seem to fit that of a rough, tough, scary biker, he seems more like a gentle giant. That is until you cross him or someone he loves. I don’t even think he knew what lengths he would go to protect someone he loved, he had never been pushed that far before, but that was all changed for the sweet looking strawberry blonde with the big green eyes.

“The Blake Family defend what is theirs.” And Colleen McCormack is one-hundred percent mine.”

Colleen is still so young. Has her whole life ahead of her. She has already lived too much tragedy for a lifetime and all she wants to do is be able to take care of her younger sister Kerry. The last thing she wants is her heartbroken by the giant gorgeous blonde boy in the MC cut who makes her feel things she never thought possible.

These two were so sweet, I was in complete awe and the whole time I kept thinking to myself, can I get my own Conan? This is an excellent start to what promises to be a captivating series. I cannot wait for Vik ‘Viking’ Kennedy’s story. If you haven’t read the Black Shamrocks MC then you don’t know what you are missing.

Carla's Five Star Review

Conan is the first book in the Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation series.

If you have read anything by Kylie Hillman, you already know that she knows how to craft a story like no other! This is Conan and Colleen's story, and it is so good that I read the entire thing in one sitting. I swear, I just couldn't put it down once I started reading it!

Conan and Colleen's story is filled with love and commitment, but don't let this statement fool you. Their story contains all of the dark elements that one normally associates with this genre.

Awesome start to what I am certain is going to be another amazing series by this super talented author!

I seriously need to catch up on reading ALL the Black Shamrock books if they are as amazing as this story.

Colleen is not quite 18 in the story and she reacted appropriately for her age but also had a feeling of quiet strength and maturity about her (not surprising given the tragedy of her family situation). The plot and the characters all felt so real . I cried for and with Colleen, wanted to hug and kiss Cole (especially when he was looking out for Colleen) and hated her uncle. There wasn't any sugar-coating and the Shari 'outcome' reflected this core honesty.

You can't help but fall in love with both main characters, Colleen is so brave and her circumstances will break your heart. Cole is, (sort of) in his own words, a giant teddy bear with a volcano of a temper hidden inside. Their story will make you laugh, cry and swoon .... and if you're anything like me it will leave you wanting so much more.

The writing is excellent, the plot had some unexpected twists and held me gripped from start to finish. In fact my only complaint was that it finished far too soon for my liking, I would happily read more and more of Colleen and Cole, hours more. That's not to suggest that the book felt unfinished or that the story was weak, quite the opposite in fact. It was nicely wrapped up, with no loose threads left hanging but I was loving their story so much I just didn't want the book to end.

I'm now off to read more work by this author!

I love an MC Romance, and Kylie's are raw, gritty, and full of emotion. All the books in the Black Shamrocks MC series, are interconnected and have strong familial ties, which instantly drew me to this book. Conan features Colin aka Conan as a young prospect in the Black Shamrocks MC, and I loved going back to this prequel series, and seeing these characters as their younger selves. Discovering the bond, friendship and loyalty this generation of the Black Shamrocks share intrigued me.

I was completely captivated with Colin and Colleen's story, which is an emotional, and heartbreaking tale of love and betrayal. Kylie has crafted characters that are complex, endearing and enigmatic. Conan has been raised a biker, in the Black Shamrocks MC, but he's this amazing swoon-worthy, kind, and caring soul. He is incredibly protective, and when his temper flares, you don't want to be caught in his cross hairs. Colleen is such a relate-able and realistic character, who's own story is quite heartbreaking. She is a perfect blend of vulnerability and strength, and really reflects the thoughts and actions of a young adult in their late teens.

Conan is a well written, well paced read, that I didn't want to put down. I found myself completely enthralled with this story, the twists and turns, danger, intrigue, suspense, angst and emotion kept me captivated. Amongst the darker moments, there were even a few moments of humor where I found myself laughing out loud.

I will be eagerly anticipating the rest of the Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation, and highly recommend this title to anyone who enjoys an MC romance, with depth, emotion or a slightly darker read.

Conan (Black Shamrocks MC First Generation book 1) by Kylie Hillman

Conan is the first instalment of the spin off series of the Black Shamrocks. We are about the take a new journey of the Black Shamrocks with the First Generation of there younger days of being prospects and the women in their lives.

I love all of the Black Shamrocks books, but my favourite would be Timber and what better way to start off the series than with his old man Colin ‘Conan’ Blake who is stands at 6 foot 8 inches and you meet the girl of his dreams Colleen McCormick who is a little quiet but strong girl. Does this remind you of two other people.

Colleen is very short, with green eyes and bright red hair. She has been dealt with a bad hand and she is trying to deal with it on her own but when she meet Colin for the first time she can’t believe what she is seeing. She is shocked that he stands up for her and that he find her attractive, she always thought herself as the ugly fat friend when she is with her two best friends but the first night she has to go the the clubhouse is the night that changes her life for the better.

Colin ‘Conan’ Blake stands at 6 foot 8 inches and has bright blue eyes and blonde hair. This story is about his prospects day of the Shamrocks and how he meets the love of his life. He first see Colleen at the clubhouse and can’t take his eyes off her. He doesn’t look at her friends that she has brought with her but at her, he starts by making a plan to get her to notice him and it works and he is so happy.

When you start to read this book you will laugh and you will cry and also your heart will break for the both of them. If you haven’t read these two series, please start with Black Shamrocks Soothing Suffering this is the start of the Black Shamrock Series with Mik, Timber, Benji, Joel, Lainey, JJ, Lacey & Sascha.

I recommend that you read this book because once you start to read it you won’t be able to put it down. The Black Shamrocks is a really good series to read and I have to say thank you to Kylie Hillman for creating these series. Can wait for Viking and the others to come out now.

A great start in the new spin-off to the Black Shamrocks MC series by Kylie. I loved reading about how the guys were when they were younger before they officially got patched in. I loved the quote at the beginning, I found it so fitting for Cole.
The prologue definitely had me intrigued after reading it, I loved the mysteriousness of it. I couldn’t wait to find out more about Cole and Colleen and their journey together.
I really enjoyed their story. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, parts where I had a tear in my eye, mixed in with a little humour (I definitely had a few laughs along the way) and hot moments. I loved Cole and Colleen’s interactions especially how awkward it became when those were out for the first time together, I loved seeing that side of them. I thought they were perfect for each other, I loved how protective he was of her right from the beginning and how loyal he and his ‘brothers’ were together.
There were a few characters that I would’ve loved to have slapped in the face, which I would have found very satisfying but nonetheless a very much loved read. Bring on the rest of the guys!

This is my first book by this author, but it won't be the last.

I have not read any of the Black Shamrocks MC books previously, but as these precede that series I'm not lost as to what's happening. I appreciate that when coming in at such a late part of the game. And while this felt a lot more YA/NA than I was expecting, it's still enjoyable. (The reason why I dropped the rating to 3 stars.)

I liked Cole being his own man at such a young age. I thought Colleen was a great big sister, and she has a definite strength within her. Although the three girls were great friends and very supportive, I was surprised by Bonnie's behaviour towards the end and honestly confused by Shari's attitude. And I really enjoyed Cole's friendship with Vic, Brian, and even Paddy.

I didn't like how some plot points were introduced and then forgotten about (Colleen fainting), and I wasn't thrilled with her announcement at the end (it all seemed a bit rushed). But overall I enjoyed this book. Especially the idea of the club members having homes and families; actual lives outside of the brotherhood.

A fast and easy read, I'm looking forward to the next in the series!

This is my first book by this author and it was great...it leans more toward the YA readers. It was a well written, paced story with twists and turns, suspense, betrayal and ambition to protect love ones. Colin “Conan” Blake was raised in the Black Shamrock MC with his father and friends. He was well aware of the rules and regulations within the club as he is a prospect...until he meets Colleen McCormack.
Colleen McCormack is very protective of her younger sister after losing her parents but the situation she’s facing is preposterous after she is bartered to the Black Shamrock MC for a family debt. She is strong, ambitious and courageous with an emotional story.
When the two sees each other the attraction is strong enough to break down a wall.
I enjoyed the friendship between the four troublemaker: Cole, Vic, Brian and Paddy was humorous at times. I felt Colleen was hard on herself regarding her weight...I wanted to shout “Big girls does it better”. IMO, her friends (Shari,Bonnie) wasn’t friends at all just acquaintances waiting to float away. Overall, a great read that I will be looking forward to the next book in this series.

Conan is book one in the new Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation, and what a passion filled read. This book was everything you’d expect from this author, she kept true to the values we expect from the Black Shamrocks and gave us a beautiful story of love, commitment, dedication and honor. This is Conan and Colleen’s story and shows us how they met and the hell they went through to get their HEA. Conan was passionate and loyal and struggled at first with following his heart or his head. Colleen was a breath of fresh air as a female lead, she represented as ‘normal’ ladies perfectly, she had curves and dimples and Conan the hot biker wanted her regardless, loved it and loved him.

If you are expecting a tame story all about love, then look elsewhere, this book has the dark elements you’d expect from this genre; dark and brooding bikers, malicious sniveling drug dealers and some scenes of a mature nature!!. Sit back and enjoy the read, it is definitely worth it. Looking forward to more from this series.

You know it's strange, we've already met the first generation but they're much much older with Kylie's Black Shamrocks MC series. Seeing them in their youth at the very beginning was different. I loved it, Kylie has always been able to write a story that gets to the heart of the matter, the good, the bad and the ugly. Cole and Colleen's story took me on a whole gauntlet of emotions, life isn't meant to be all sunshine and roses, there are times when things are dark and dangerous and it's never ever easy. Kylie has perfected the right balance between light and dark with her stories and I for one will always be grabbing onto her stories greedily. Conan is a brilliant book for a new series and if you haven't read the original series it's a good starting point. This series is a step back in time, where the MC's became iconic in Australian history and Kylie has done it justice with her writing.

I was really torn on this story and series in general. I liked the relationship between Colleen and Cole, especially with him recognizing the situation that Colleen is in after the death of her parents, and how she does anything to protect her younger sister from what their lives have turned into. I enjoyed that the character of Cole was willing to go back on his family and his brotherhood in order to protect her. I felt that there was something going on within the MC along the lines of ulterior motives, but overall the love between Cole and Colleen prevail and they are able to be together without Colleen’s uncle or the MC driving a wedge between them. I was pretty neutral about the story, but definitely want to read on in the next story to see what happens next.

Oh man, this was my first book by this author, and I have to say I enjoyed it so much.
This is really my type of MC Book... Everything about this book was so good. Raw, gritty, alpha males, everything you would want in a hardcore MC book.

Conan oh my word, what a freaking sweetie... Well until you got on the wrong side of him. Then you will the alpha possessive biker show up.
Colleen, sweet, vulnerable but the strength she had will surprise you. And just because she was young, doesn't mean she didn't know what she wanted, and didn't mean she wasn't ready to fight for what she wanted.

A story that will have you captivated from the start to the finish. Lots of angst, twists, turns, intrigue, danger, crying and funny moments and mixed in with some really dark moments. I can't wait for the next one!

What a sensational start to the next generation of the Black Shamrocks MC.

Cole is very soon to be patched in the Black Shamrocks MC, along with his lifelong friends Paddy, Victor and Brian. Colleen and Jessica McCormack are orphaned and living with their drug addicted uncle, Colleen is given to the MC to help work off a debt when Cole takes an instant liking to her. Things do not go smoothly for them though.

I really enjoyed the ferocity of Cole’s character and his beliefs. Terrific character descriptions as well as depicting of scenes. This club is a 1% so not a hearts and flowers club but underneath there are elements you get to see once you peel back the layers, some good, some not so good.

I’m looking forward to reading Viking’s story.

Having read the entire Black Shamrocks series first, I felt I had a very good idea of what to expect and I wasn't disappointed. The book was definitely what you would expect from Kylie in terms of her writing style and following the ethos of the Black Shamrocks. In common with the Black Shamrocks series, this book deals with subject matter that is very very hard to swallow so readers need to be aware of that. The story line picks up Conan as a teenager and prospect in the Black Shamrocks, and his relationship with a girl, Colleen. Conan finds himself with a decision, which for him is life changing, the girl he has fallen in love with or Black Shamrocks? As you read the book, you feel that you are right there next to Conan, you feel his dilemma, you find yourself getting more and more deeply involved with Colleen and the situation that she has been forced into. You experience the hurt, pain, horror and humiliation that Colleen has and the frustrations and deeply set desire Conan has wanting to free her from all that.

My only real negative is that in my mind the book finishes to early and leaves a lot of open questions about how the relationship with Conan & Colleen continues and about how Conan's relationships with other members of the Black Shamrocks develop. That said the original Black Shamrocks series did exactly that and you found that as you continued to read the series, those questions did get answered so I'm waiting (very impatiently) for the next book in this series to be published.

Conan was an intense read that I absolutely loved reading. I enjoyed the storyline and finding out more information about the story of the Black Shamrocks MC. I loved the journey that Kylie Hillman took me on with the MC and with the couple in the story. There was so much emotion and detail in the story that I could imagine the story was really happening in my head. I absolutely loved the characters in the story and I loved Cole so much in the story. This story took me on a rollercoaster of emotions with the events in the story but this was another amazing story by this author.

This is a love story between two teenagers who's backgrounds are very different. Colin, a Black Shamrocks MC Prospect and son of one of the leaders has fallen head over heels for a girl, Colleen. Her life started out normal and then upon the accidental death of her parents she and her sister are thrown into a dangerous world they both want to escape. Their attraction is immediate and although Colin has been warned to stay away he simply can't. Their awkwardness is hilarious.

True to life characters and danger abound. Great read.

Wow, what a ride! Conan by Kylie Hillman is the first book in her new Black Shamrocks MC: First Generation series. The next books in the series are Viking and Butch.

Colin - Conan - Blake grew up in the MC lifestyle. He meets Colleen McCormack, a 17 year old girl who was traded in for a debt. She's property of the MC and works as waitress.
It takes Conan one look at her and he's goner. He needs to rescue her, at all costs.

The storyline is set in Australia and a prequel to the Black Shamrock MC series. The book deals with sensitive subject that may cause triggers.

What?

Seriously did not make it past the prologue. This author apparently writes prologues that should actually be the description you see when you go to buy the book. But by that time you’ve already wasted your money. So unless you like books about club sluts, you are going to want to skip this one. Yes that appears to be part of the plot because she apparently doesn’t do it willingly but it’s an important piece of information that may preclude some people from reading the book.

I don't know what to say about this book other than its freaking incredible!! It's shorter than the first Shamrocks series but it was so perfect! I absolutely adored Conan and his younger days. He's a total Prince Charming that rides a Harley in my book. And Colleen.... she totally has my heart as well. They are a perfect couple and this story was so beautiful! I can't freaking wait to read more of this series!!!

A fast and easy read.

My first read by the author and it did not disappoint. This was a fast and easy read with drama, suspense and heat. I enjoyed the comradeship in the MC family that the author shows especially what Cole had with Vic, Brian, and Paddy. Colleen strong will to protect her sister especially in their situation made her character likable. Overall a good read that will have me looking for future books from this author.

Gritty

You do have to say one thing about this book--it doesn't pull any punches. It doesn't romanticize motorcycle clubs and portray its members as noble knights on motorized steeds. The Black Shamrocks are outlaws. They do as they please but have rules they follow. Loyalty to the club is demanded even if it conflicts with your life and love. This is a gritty, hard-hitting story that portrays the seedy side of motorcycle clubs.
