Brilliant! I have loved all of this author's books and this one is no exception. Expertly plotted, beautifully written, fast paced, with characters who leap put of the page and take residence in your heart, staying there long after the book is finished. Another wonderful story from this very talented author. ...more

She is pleasantly surprised to find that Dr. Sunil Samant has no inclination to marry her either but is also agreeing under duress, due to his mother's

This is my first book by the author, and it will definitely not be my last. “The Blue House in Bishop” had everything I enjoy in a good book: characters seemingly plucked out of real life, very believable and relatable – a setting (more than one, actually) that came alive just like the characters and enhanced the plot (I love the coloured doors and hidden surprises) – a love story (and a love story within the love story) – a fast pace and just the right amount of backstory and descriptions – twi ...more
Book is a double bonanza. It has romance and suspense (say in 70: 30 ratio). There is the genre called cozy mystery. This book can be called cozy romantic mystery.

There are four main characters. Alisha is an Indian lady cop who has a broken heart. Sunil is a doctor who is also having his secrets. Duke is ex-military who, is retired hurt. And Jenny is a mysterious lady who claims to be wife of Sunil’s friend Todd. Alisha was in love with his senior who ditched her for a politician’s daughter. Sh

Blue Is The New Colour Of Suspense

This is my first book by the author and I have to admit, it was quite an interesting read. The Blue House In Bishop has romance, suspense, mystery, thriller and some bit of action too. The author has weaved all these elements neatly in the story with well-defined characters.

Described as a romantic suspense book, the story revolves around four main characters and their quest for finding the answers to their miseries. Alisha, Sunil, Duke and well a mysterious wo

After reading the description of this book, I was intrigued on many levels while wondering how an author was going to pull so many varying elements together in a manner that would make sense. There was a hint at romance, there was the hint of thriller, and there was a hint of mystery, and all in equal doses. In the beginning of the story there were so many loose ends being dangled before the reader it was a challenge keeping them separate. But with an ease and finesse that few writers possess, C ...more

I enjoyed this book.  Its intricate plot crosses over between genres -  the result is romantic suspense with the undertones of an intriguing crime thriller.  Somehow the author managed to weave together the stories of four very different characters, each carrying their own emotional burdens and/or memories from the past. Both Sunil and Alisha are strong and likeable characters - they live in the modern world, yet retain respect for their cultural heritage and traditions.  Strangers when they fir ...more

The Blue House on Bishop tells the story of three troubled individuals brought together through life circumstances. All professional people, all seeking love and a chance to succeed at it. In a society where women as regarded as ornamental rather than equal partners, Alisha has to prove herself over and over again, to her parents and then to the men, she, unfortunately enters into relationships with. There are several sub-plots to this story, with a lot of suspense, fighting, killings and double ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The main characters Alisha, Duke and Sunil were well fleshed out and believable. It was a delight to see an Asian heroine who is feisty, analytical and gritty without losing her feminine touch. The action flows well and you soon find yourself caught up in the plot and wanting to read more. The book would make a really good film with visual descriptions and plenty of sub-plots alongside the main romance. Well done to the author.

This is a well written book that has both romance and suspense. The beginning peeks the reader's curiosity without being confusing. Locations of the United States and India are well integrated. The characters are well-drawn, especially the Indian characters. The pace was well done also. Overall, an enjoyable read. ...more

This is a great mystery that takes place in India. The author does a great job depicting her three main characters, how their lives intertwine and the suspense and drama that results. Since the story takes place it India, it portrays many of the cultural expectations of women and how those women choose to deal with that, or not.

Romance, a drug king-pin, cops and mystery. Can't beat it.

Blue and Some other Colours
The Blue House in Bishop, as the title suggests, is a well-paced narrative of the events surrounding the blue house and its occupants.
It begins with an NRI doctor, Sunil Samant, providing refuge to an old college friend, Duke. Samant is the quintessential nice guy. He rushes home to India to meet his mother when she expresses a desire to see him before she dies. She is, indeed, suffering from a terminal condition, which compels him to promise that he will marry an Indi

There is something intensely engaging about the beautiful title 'The Blue House in Bishop'. The blurb was extremely interesting and the actual read delivered all it promised. This is the first time I am reading Sunanda Chatterjee and I find her narrative style lucid and language eloquent. The Blue House in Bishop, the home of Dr. Sunil Samant brings together the unlikeliest inmates - Ex-Special Forces man, Duke and ex-cop from India, Alisha, both friends with Sunil, in a narrative that effortles ...more

'The Blue house in Bishop' is a well written romantic thriller. This is the first book, by this author that I reading. But this book sure has made me put all other books by her on my To Be Read list.
The cover page does convey the romance part of this book and the title definitely is intriguing.
The blurb is interestingly written in such a way that we are tempted to pick this book if we like romance and thriller as a genre.

Sunanda Chatterjee does have flair of writing mystery and suspense novels with a hint of romance.

The Blue House in Bishop is second book of Sunanda which I read and I must say I marvel her writing and storytelling skills.

The Blue House in Bishop is a story of four individuals staying under same roof but hiding something or the other from others and also from the world. But why and what’s the reason behind it?

The story is addictive and it keeps you hooked till the end. Sunanda knows how to ho

This is a nice tale of love. Love/lust from different continents are combined along with Indian traditions. the strongest message according to me is by the character sunil who shows that good deeds by us never go waste.
also enjoyed the part where how 4 strangers stay in a single roof and decided to help each other when in need. Nice flow of story presented through simple writing.

Great read by Sunanda. Opened the book not knowing what to expect - haven't read a romantic thriller in a while. The book was full of surprises. I loved the characters especially Alisha's. The storyline was interesting and refreshing. The plot was tight and Sunanda managed to ration out the suspense in increments in a very masterful way right till the end. Will be looking forward to more of Sunanda's works. ...more

Four unlikely people find themselves together in the same house under purely coincidental circumstances and each with a different agenda. A physician in America wants to please his mother with an arranged marriage. A feisty, female ex-police inspector from India wants to get away from a relationship gone bad and has agreed to a “pretend” engagement. An ex-Special Forces captain is dealing with betrayal and hurt by his wife. A woman comes from nowhere who is trying to out run the mob.

Having recently read and enjoyed a couple of short stories by Sunanda Chatterjee in the Holiday Heartwarmers anthology, I was very much looking forward to The Blue House in Bishop and was not disappointed. This story gripped me from the very beginning, with very likeable characters, each very different but who gelled so well together. It had just the right mixture of romance, suspense with a touch of humour. Congrats to the author for a very enjoyable read :)
