Alex is the author of the well-received novel, Living in Water. Besides being an author and avid reader, he is a teacher and member of the Redwood Writers. Alex lives the adventure in Northern California with his wife and two children.

What a great story! The adventures of these interesting characters begin in California, and stretch across to Europe. The global backdrop allowed for these young people to get out of their comfort zones, literally and figuratively. I found the story compelling. I did struggle with the ending, but not all life stories end the way we would like!
I look forward to another novel by this capable writer.

Living in Water by Alex Z. Moores is a beautifully executed debut novel that features compelling themes, including love and friendship, adventure and self-discovery, the kind of story that readers want to keep in their hearts long after they have read it because of the deep stirrings it awakens. Stacey Shepherd has just accepted a teaching assignment in Germany for a change, perhaps hoping that by changing the milieu, he could ultimately create a meaningful life. However, when he decides to go on an adventure across Europe with his two friends and brother before starting his new job, they are transported into realities he never dreamed of, and life-changing experiences that open their eyes to the deeper truths of life, love, and friendship. And what has water got to do with all of this? This is the part that will surprise readers.

Alex Z. Moores’ writing is eloquent and very accessible, with great use of descriptions and dialogues that enhance the plot. It’s beautiful to note how the dialogues reflect the characters and allow readers to get into the setting. Living in Water isn’t the kind of book that builds on action and that focuses on the plot, and some readers may find the pace slow. However, it is important to consider the thoughtful, reflective style that showcases powerful lessons in relationships, and graciously leads readers to some form of spiritual awakening. For a debut novel, Living in Water is a huge success, a story that will entertain readers and provoke a gentle revolution, silent like the breeze in their hearts. Alex Z. Moores has the gift of capturing human emotions and yearnings in a language that will speak to many hearts.

An appropriate tale since a lot of the story takes place ... in he rain! Stacey has an opportunity to take part in a teacher exchange program. His destination is Germany. He's a bit concerned about going alone so he convinces his brother and best friends to join him on a biking tour before he has to report at the school. They are enthused with the idea of spending time with him exploring Europe.
That's when things began to change for everyone. New relationships are in order as well as old ones renewed.
We get to visit some beautiful places together with them. Detailed descriptions make us feel a part of their journey
