This is the second book in the Simple Gifts series and it is Loretta's story. Loretta is struggling to find her footing after her ex-fiancé, Will, moves to Willow Ridge. He is all apologetic for letting her father run him off and marrying Molly on the rebound. Even though he did not father her twins, they were intimate and he claims he did love her. He wants to court Loretta, but she no longer has feelings for him. And then there is Drew, who is the father, but is trying to be a better man. He ...more

Book two in the Simple Gifts series. It is a very fast easy read. It can be a stand alone but you are not going to want to miss book one A Simple Vow.

Making rugs would be so much fun. Loretta gets to do that in this one. I loved the whole story from the first page to the last.

You will read this one in one sitting. And you will enjoy the simple life and simple story about a simple wish.

I gave this book 4 stars. I hope that you will read this series.

Ms. Hubbard is gifted at the ability to have multiple story lines running through her books. While A SIMPLE WISH stands alone, fans will want to read A Simple Vow and the books in her Promise Lodge series. Well, all her books, really.

Loretta is struggling to find her footing after her former beau, Will, shows up all apologetic for letting her father run him off and marrying some other girl he'd been intimate with even though he wasn't the father of her twins. But then there is Drew, who is the

How I have missed being in Willow Ridge, and Charlotte Hubbard has opened that door again, and now I don’t want to leave. This book can be read alone, there is a lot of information provided to bring you up to date, but believe me, you will want to read the past books, they are that good!
We are treated to two sweet, clean romances, one with Amish Loretta, and Drew, who we met when he tried to marry her sister, um wait a minute, do we trust him? The other is Rebecca, one of the triplets and

A Simple Wish is book two from Charlotte Hubbard's Simple Gifts series. I enjoyed the people of Willow Ridge. The story is a good, heartwarming and quick read. It, also, includes a sweet and clean romance.

I look forward to the book three in the series to see what happens next.

Though, it is slightly predictable, I would still give this book four stars. I recommend it to those who enjoy a light Amish story.

I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

So, I'm going to start of by stating the obvious here, the cover of this book is so pretty that it demands attention. It certainly got mine.

I knew what to expect as far as the storyline went because this is the second book in the Simple Gifts series. and I was familiar with the characters, so I can't say that there were any surprises. There is one character that has matured which is to be expected and there is another that you will question his motives and behavior. I know that in future books

It took me a couple chapters to have all the characters sorted out in my mind since I haven’t read anything by this author before and it seems that all of her books are connected. Though I knew going in that this was the second in a series, the synopsis led me to believe this focused on one couple so I thought it would be like it often is with romance series, easy enough to dive in and read it like a stand-alone, and eventually I did get what was going on with everyone, but it definitely doesn’t ...more
Sometimes I think there are just too many characters in Charlotte Hubbard's books. I can't keep them all straight until I'm several chapters in and then I still have to stop and think about who is who. The main focus of this book is Loretta Riehl and Drew Detweiler. Both of these characters are introduced in the first book of the series, A Simple Vow. Now, I have to be really honest and say I didn't like Drew in the first book and at the beginning of this book my feelings were the same. ...more

Cornelius is keeping as secret from the community as well as his daughters. The community does wonder why Deacon Cornelius goes to Kansas City so often for clock parts. This author has become one of my favourites when it comes to the Amish fiction genre. Every book is unique and goes far beyond the ordinary stereotype of what we normally think of in this genre. Charlotte always manages to tackle sensitive subjects, (those not usually dealt with when writing of the Plain People), with understanding and grace.

This book is the second in the Simple Gift series. It can be read as a stand alone and enjoyed as such, however, I found that after having read the first,

My Review
Charlotte Hubbard has done it again. I love her Amish inspired books and series. I normally d not read this type of book. I actually read books about as opposite as you can get. Paranormal is my usually genre. I first encountered Charlotte's book through another tour from Goddess Fish and I am so glad I did. When I chose the book during that tour I was hooked. Now I read everything by Charlotte I can get my hands on.

Charlotte's books are clean, wholesome, loving stories. They are

Charlotte Hubbard writes interesting Amish fiction with complex characters and equally complex plots. First, there's Loretta Riehl, once engaged, but now she's trying to make the young man understand she just doesn't feel for him the way she used to.

Drew Detweiller is Asa's twin brother and finds himself intrigued by Loretta.

Edith Detweiller is Asa's wife and Loretta's sister.

Rosalyn is the other sister in the Riehl household. Cornelius is their father and he's in a perpetual bad mood. His

Another Hit for Hubbard!

I so enjoyed Charlotte Hubbard’s A Simple Vow (first in her Simple Gifts series.) So when I had the opportunity to read her latest release, A Simple Wish, I was excited. But a question lingered: Could she pull off another good story? Unequivocally yes!
Loretta Riehl makes beautiful rugs for the Simple Gifts craft shop in Willow Ridge. After her breakup with Will Gingerich (the guy that married a woman who was pregnant with another man’s child), she’s ready for a change.

A Simple Wish by Charlotte Hubbard is book 2 of her Promise Lodge series. While it can be read as a stand-alone novel. I had not read book 1 and it did leave me wanting to go back and see what I had missed. Multiple story lines cross in this novel, but Hubbard is able to write in a way that it is not cluttered but easy to follow each.

Loretta is struggling to find her way since her former beau, Will, shows up apologizing for allowing her father to run him off and into the arms of another girl

Don't be fooled by the title of Charlotte Hubbard's latest book -- A Simple Wish. The wish might be simple, but the story is not.

Like her other books set in real and fictional Missouri towns, Charlotte Hubbard has written another story that doesn't quite fit the cookie-cutter style of Amish romance. She has strong females lead out in situations that usually get a little -- or maybe a lot -- complicated and don't always have a resolution that would fit a stereotypical Amish community.

I am loving this new series!

Now that Edith is happily married, Loretta Riehl is being hounded by Will Gingrich to renew their relationship… and to convince her dat to allow them to marry. But Loretta no longer wants to marry Will. She’s put off by his whirlwind courtship — and marriage — to Molly Ropp. How could he have truly loved her if he could court and marry another so quickly?

Well, I agree with her… and I’d find it very difficult to believe, too. So when Drew Detweiler comes along, I think

A Simple Wish has two of my criteria that keep me reading page after page, romance and mystery. While reading this wonderful book, the mystery and how the community was going to deal with it when it was solved, remained foremost on my mind. So many great charactors though, that I never wanted to skip to the end to find out.

Loretta remained my favorite character throughout with her strong character. Even though she was scared to do so at times, she displayed courage to fulfill her her dreams.

Simple Wish is a great example of Amish romantic fiction with angst, a touch of mystery, and a complex love relationship. It is enjoyable and entertaining. The writing is good, the story is not fluff, but shows the Amish as ridden with many of the same sins and vices as the English. I am looking forward to another installment in this series. It is good for the genre, and would compete with Beverly Lewis for audience and enticement into a series. This is great for public libraries, women’s ...more

A SIMPLE WISH by Charlotte Hubbard. Book # 2 "Simple.Gifts"
Loretta and Will are rehashing what her Dad had done to break them up.
Will further messed up by getting involved with Molly and her parents were anxious to get her married. Now he's left with twins, and trying to mend things. She moved on with another suitor Drew, or was that also a risky mistake. He deceived people also, and was a guarded newcomer. Drew feeels like they have a lot in common, and Loretta is wanting adventure.

The second book in the series A Simple Wish brings us back to Willow Ridge. Willow Ridge is a town known for forgiving and getting a new start. However, can they survive when a huge sin comes to light?

Loretta Riehl is happy making her rugs for Simple Gifts but she would be even more happy if she could find someone to love. When two men start to vie for her attention, will Loretta be able to choose? And when one is former bad boy, Drew Detweiler, will her dad approve? Speaking of her father, why

I simply can't say enough kind things about Charlotte's books. They draw you in right away and you can't help but push aside everything else to read them: her characters are so real; her settings are so beautifully described; you feel that sense of community right from the start. Perhaps the best part of picking up a book by Charlotte Hubbard is she has such a strong sense of genre and what her fan base enjoys that she delivers a great story every time.

With the Simple Gifts series she has

A Simple Wish is the continuation of the Riehl’s family; this one being centered a round Loretta. Drew Detweiler twin is married to Edith Riehl, which has an advantage for the Riehl’s sisters. There’s plenty of action and some tense moments with Cornelius Riehl, who is also the deacon for the community. There’s plenty of family drama when Loretta decides to work in the Simple Gifts shop because Cornelius was controlling of his daughters. Hubbard’s writing style was have readers turning the pages ...more

This is a sweet story. It was quite a contrast to the Amish Fiction books I've read though. I wasn't expecting some of the drama in this book. It feels off in Amish Fiction. Nonetheless it was a nice story. Well-written. I didn't read the other books in the series but it wasn't hard to follow along although I wish I could have read them (or it) to better understand the story.

This is a continuing story of the Amish residents of Willow Ridge, it was ok as a stand alone but would be better if you read them in order. Loretta makes rugs and decides to break out of her father's grim outlook on life and work at a craft store. Drew came to town under a cloud but has been forgiven and starts courting Loretta. Drew finds out a horrible secret about Loretta's father and the family has to move on.

I've read a lot of Amish fiction, as I call it, and this was as good as any I've read. It was obvious that reading the first book would have been helpful; I got lost in the rapid introduction of the characters. It also seems that everyone in this community has some major problem in their past. While I know Amish communities are not idyllic, it struck me as bizarre just how many issues there were in such a small community.
