PIT dos is famous for his crime novels, and this is the first I have read. Unlike what I was expecting, a police or crime novel in the ol´familiar style, I was wound into a suspenseful story where the protangonista is living a super everyday life, and the suspense is not just about the crime, which in fact, already happens and does not repeat, but about everyone and everything else around her. A familiar feeling for me in Mexico.

As someone who studied some journalism, PIT II's centering around journalism ¨the fourth power¨and its world also made the book more interesting. PIT II created in Olguita a likable and well.down character, and I am looking forward to meeting her in Olga Forever (apparently this is a sequel, but it was not noticable, thankfully) after reading a completely different PIT. Ah, and the ending doesn't disappoint.

Oh, apart from all that jazz, the thing I liked most was the very Mexican Spanish. Taibo throws some great insults in there, very well done. Title translates to Percieving the Battlefield, which it would have been nice to percieve during the reading. But that was my fault.

This is a solid, almost four, three. Leaving the title with an elipse turned me off some, and it's not excellent, but an author I would recommend for fun reading. He does serious stuff, too, but I haven't read to recommend yet. This book is only available in Spanish so pick one of his many others.

Here, Olga waxes phanatic about journalism.

Bastante disfrutable.
