I received a NetGalley ARC of this book for my honest review.

What a little treasure this turned out to be. Put on your big girl, "I believe in fairy tales" panties, grab a big glass of wine, and dive in. It is hysterically funny, naughty, sweet, charming, swoony, and every little girl's (and big girl's for that matter) fantasy. I absolutely loved Jane/Chelsea #2. She was snarky, vibrant, witty, tough, and oddly confident for having little self-confidence in her looks. Whether she was Jane or Che
DNF at 26%.

I can't tell if this is supposed to be funny, or ironic, or serious but it isn't working for me.

Jane Johnson is the original Plain Jane. The Ugly Duckling compared with her beautiful sister and mother she is short, short-sighted, over-weight and totally overlooked. She works at the 95c Store and her asshole of a neighbour totally ignores her when she goes round to complain.

She storms off in a huff and gets into a huge mansion where she wanders through the rooms and meets a rude guy wh

If I Were Beautiful is a uniquely plotted, surprisingly funny, interestingly relate-able novel by Devon Hartford.

The story revolves around Jane feeling like no one would like her because of how she looks. She was also not happy when men would try courting her only to find out in the end that they don’t like her; instead, it was her sister, Chelsea, they really liked. It was Sunday, and she has a new neighbor who was a jerk, and on that day, she also met Wes, and the conversation between them rea

Heroine's pathetic and this could have been better but I will never understand people's intense hatred towards insecure heroines.

Jane always felt like she was in her sister's shadow looks wise and then comes along a magical ring...who will she choose? A good read and I am so glad that Jane realised it is what is inside that counts. I loved Wes - such a charmer. Brodie - such a manwhore but I think we saw glimpses of more. Jane's sister was a great character and so supportive - it would be nice to see her get her HEA.

3.5 Mystical Stars
The title and the synopsis of this book intrigued me so I dove in with a completely open mind. Having not read a Devon Hartford book before I had no idea what to expect. While it took me a while to get into the story and the characters, by the end of the book I was totally invested. The story follows 'plain' Jane Johnson as she lives her life in the shadow of her gorgeous sister Chelsea. I wasn't very keen on Jane's character, she was bitter and twisted with a chip on her shoul

This was a lovely Cinderellia-ish story. Of course, stories with this theme have been told since the dawn of time, so the challenge is finding a fresh and intriguing way to tell it. While this tale slips occasionally into trite territory, the main characters, Jane and Wesley, are so delightful you are compelled to find out how things work out for them. There are some unexpected but needed twists to the story, and while it is not exactly full of suspense, the plot has a pace that keeps the pages ...more

This book was amazing; it has mystery and humor, attraction and romance and a very original storyline. Devon writes creatively, with a superb use of the English language and great flow in every chapter.
"I'm calling him Blaze because of his blazing blue eyes, stared down at me, his face an inscrutable stone mask. God, he was painfully gorgeous."
"This was the most sensuous, sexual kiss I'd ever had. I couldn't pin it down, but it drove me wild. A slow burn."
"I will remember your eyes forever."

A good read and a real page turner! Devon is a new author to me and I am so very glad I one-clicked this book. A loveable awkward and funny heroine in Jane and as for the men... HOT DAMN, you need to read this book because of all the delicious swoon worthy man folk Jane attracts into her life, and not just from wearing that magical ring either (although looking like a supermodel can't hurt!), our heroine attracts into her life exactly who she is looking for - a man who loves the real Jane Johnso ...more

ARC received through NetGalley in exchange for honest review.

Sweet, sassy, quirky PLAIN JANE was refreshingly unexpected.

What would you do if you woke up one morning and BAM you're a hottie turning heads all around town? I know what I'd do...hehehe ;)

Wasn't sure what I was "walking into" with this newest spin on Cinderella's story, but I was pleasantly surprised but the light fun read it was. I'm excited for the conclusion!

I really, really wanted to like this but I gave up about 30% of the way through. This was a take on the Ugly Duckling theme with a magical ring to complete the transformation. Jane (Plain Jane) was too whiny and too insecure for me. The premise that one had to completely transform to get any attention is anathema to my view that everyone has worth as they are. Just a real hard sell with very cliched characters. Sorry.

This book was a short, fun, read. There is something about this book that is almost Twilight Zoneish. It was strange and I had a hard time trying to figure out what really happened in this book. There is a cliffhanger which I hate, but I will read the next book when it comes out. I really need to understand this book and series.

I am so confused..truly!

This book had such good potential to be a 5 stars worthy read.

The story was nice and different..I loved the whole idea of magical ring and stuff because let's get real..everyone loves that stuff.

-The triangle thing.
-The tedious scenes and conversations.
-The dialog was very long and yawn inducing at some points..
-But most of all..this unbelievably ...well..wrong perceptions about beauty.. if you are a "hot chick" you must have a score of guys lined up b

The beginning of this book took me by surprise. I couldn't figure out which direction Jane was going in. There were so many moving targets, the men at the speed date, the neighbor, the name she met getting a drink of water, the relationship with her sister, her own low self esteem. I really thought that things were going up for her only to have it slapped our face by the exact scenario that she said would happen.

But wh

Modern day Cinderella

A plain Jane turning into a Cinderella,a supermodel? Jane is use to her sister Chelsea getting all the guys. when it came to good looks Chelsea got it all. they didn't even look at Jane. When she runs from her apartment when yet again a guy tries to go through her to get to her sister yet again she looses it and just keeps walking. she realizes she's dying of thirst and asks for some water. wes gives her a bottle and Jane starts roaming around and finds the master bedroom, w

I truly enjoyed this book. If you enjoy romance with a hint of real magic, you will love this story.

Jane Johnson has been unable to find someone that can love and appreciate her, and the only two relationships she has attempted have failed miserably. Plus, she is somewhat crippled with insecurities about her appearance and always compares herself unfavorably to her beautiful sister. One day, Jane wakes up looking totally different, beautiful in fact, and is swarmed by male attention. However, y

If I Were Beautiful gave me a few bouts of the feels and lots to think about. Why is being so beautiful so important to people? Does it really make your life easier? Does it cause extra pressure to stay beautiful?

I’m sure the average person I’m sure has went through that “ugly duckling” that usually comes around during middle school when acne attacks you and you’re still growing into your looks and body.During that time I myself probably felt like it was the end of the world, then woke up one

True to its blurb, this book has left we excited to see what is going to happen next. I am completely new to this author, but was lucky to come across is and love the idea of love with a little mythical nature to it. It was wonderful and exciting to see someone who had always deserved attention to finally get it, even if she wasn't sure how it suddenly happened. I think the excitement of knowing she'd be set loose to enjoy people seeking her out and wondering how she reacted really pulled me in ...more

Long awaited new book By Devon......
Speed dating, that's plain Jane's nightmare and Zac and Mike prove the point.
Jane sadly epitimises the less than average looking amongst us, it was like reading about myself. I feel for Jane.
I love the sneekiness of the author, he kept teasing us with the hero at the beginning, I randomly thought " Ooh here he is, no? Ooh this is him now, but no! I don't think I've ever been kept waiting so long for the hero to turn up! And then suddenly there's more than one.

I loved this book!We don't really see many male authors in romance, but I am glad that this is slowly changing, since they write just as good as their female counterparts.Devon Hartford is one such author that I love. His writing has the perfect combination of humor, romance and reality in it.

In this book we have Jane Johnson, who is very plain and unnoticeable. She has tried almost everything to make the opposite sex notice her, but nothing works. They always seem to prefer her beautiful sister ove
The Book Junkie Reads . . .
The price of beauty can be a price you are unwilling to pay because it can be too steep a price. In this beautifully sweet romance Jane Johnson discoveries the hidden cost behind beauty. The perceptions of beauty and if she would be willing to live the rest of her life paying the price. Jane finds the answers to: Is it worth the cost? Is she willing to pay that cost? Can she look at herself and appreciate who she is and what she had become?

Devon Hartford has hooked me in all the way. I loved Jan

It was a little too scattered for me. I liked the premise but there was a weakness in Jane's character that I didn't like much. I actually liked her sister, Chelsea better. Why? because Chelsea was kind to her sister, whereas Jane had such low self esteem that she was snotty. It truly got on my nerves. I'm not sure we needed Lester or any speed dating guys.

I did like the estate sale scene and I loved the Oscars. Still, the scene while playing Zelda could of been much more romantic but NO, Jane

This just might be my favorite Devon Hartford book yet! This uniquely crafted storyline is unlike anything I have read. It is a cocktail of love, humor and wit all shaken up with a splash of magic that will leave you intoxicated and nursing a serious book hangover!

Devon had me laughing (as usual) with his quick back and forth banter between the characters. This is one of my favorite things about Devon's writing. The way he is able to write humor into every story and at the same time stay true to

So Jane has now experienced both sides of being a women beautiful on the inside not so much on the outside and a supermodel looking women. The only man who likes her for who she is her best friend George. She has a wicked personality just hides behind her stunning sister.
Brodie her new neighbour didn't give her the time of day as Jane only speaking when she becomes supermodel Chelsea what a dick!
Wes liked Jane when she found his grandmother's mansion and stumbled upon her diamond rings. Thei
