Madison Fox survived her first week as California’s newest illuminant enforcer, defending her region against imps, vervet, hounds, and one lascivious demon. If her grumpy boss, Mr. Pitt, was impressed, he hasn’t told Madison. In fact, there’s a lot her boss has been closemouthed about, including the dark secret haunting his past.

But Madison’s problems are just

Although I enjoyed A Fistful of Evil I had a few issues with it, I felt that the series had huge potential though and I'm so glad I gave it a second chance. A Fistful of Fire was everything I'd hoped for and then some, this series has definitely found it's legs now and I'm really excited to see where things go from here.

Madison is still learning what being an Illuminant Enforcer is all about, she doesn't have much experience with the creatures t/>2nd
Life as the newest, most clueless illuminant enforcer isn’t easy, but Madison has actually made through her first week…barely. Not that she was expecting a pat on the back or anything, but just maybe her boss could do more than grunt or give her “that” look. When Mr. Pitt assigns her to “mall” duty starting Black Friday, Madison is pretty sure things couldn’t get much worse. Little did she know, her career was about to catch on fire as a flare-up of evil ignites at the mall and her “allies” are ...more

A Fistful of Fire (Madison Fox, Illuminant Enforcer #2) by Rebecca Chastain is sooo good! I absolutely loved this book!!! I loved the first one but this one even topped that. She is an enforcer, she battles evil no one can see. Of course she didn't know she had this power until like a month ago! Now she has a whole region to defend and there is a lot of baddies out there. It is funny, action packed, full of great fantasy, touch of crazy romance, and silly lust factors, and just a great read. Wh ...more
( Stars A Fistful of Evil, the first in this series, was a fun, non-stop ride that I enjoyed immensely and I gave it 5 stars. So I was more than excited to jump back into Madison Fox’s world of fighting evil.

In the previous book, Madison was hired as an enforcer with a group that fights supernatural evils, mainly of the demonish sort. She spent her whole life previous to this not knowing that she was literally born to do this job, as she can both see people’s soul

This is the second in the series. It could be read as a standalone, but I do encourage reading the first book first.

Poor Madison! I get that she is a newbie, but I feel bad about how rudely everyone is treating her. Even in the paranormal world politics runs rampant. I also felt bad for Mr. Pitt the whole time. Poor guy...I'm happy to see that he really does like Madison and cares for her safety. She certainly has her dumb moments, but you can't really blame her. I would probably pull some of t

I enjoyed book one, A FISTFUL OF EVIL, but I think A FISTFUL OF FIRE is my favorite of the two and I love when a series gets better as it grows.

Madison is still new at being an illuminate enforcer and has a lot to learn, but she is growing into the position and kicking supernatural butt. I will admit that her penchant for doing stupid things gets a little bit frustrating. There were many points throughout the book that I was yelling at her to turn around, call for backup or just list

In an effort of full disclosure, I need to reveal that I won this book in an author sponsored contest; however, this review contains my unbiased views and opinions. With that being said, I loved "A Fistful of Evil," the first book in the Madison Fox series and was anxious to read book two. Well, I am happy to report book two was quite entertaining and contained many of the qualities that made the first time a success.

Madison has been called into her boss's, Brad Pitts, office. It see
This felt like a tale of two books, a tortoise vs the hare with the hare winning the race. I admit to being a bit worried with the start of the book it was bit slow to develop and very much the same feel as the first book with Madison trying to fit into her job and dance around magical politics. But then we meet the Pooka (available to buy on Amazon), boy then things got interesting - and my universe expanded with potential, just the way I like it. Highly recommend to those willing to give a boo ...more

I don't know why I keep going on these urban fantasy series that are just mediocre. I told my bookclub I need an intervention because I can't help myself. Luckily this one was better than the first installment but it still was just average. Madison still isn't the sharpest heroine in the neighborhood and I thought that the story was a bit on the long side but overall I was pleased that there seemed to be some growth, however small it was. I feel like the reason I kept reading was because I enjoy ...more

Madison Fox has undergone her first trial by fire; but the previous week’s events, bear no comparison to what she must face in Fistful of Fire. Rebeca Chastain’s Illuminant Enforcer must rise to new occasions in order to solve a masterfully plotted urban fantasy. Hot off the

I enjoyed A Fistful of Evil, the first book in the Madison Fox, Illuminant Enforcer, series quite a bit. Madison makes for a great urban fantasy heroine. I enjoy spending time with her and Mr. Bond. A Fistful of Fire was just as good, if not better--keeping me turning pages as fast as I could, sneaking in reading moments whenever I was able (even when I wasn't supposed to). It almost felt like I was reading one of Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden novel, the way events unfolded one after the other in ...more

I had a lot of fun reading A Fistful of Fire. It's fast paced and filled with unique creatures, interesting characters, and a complex system of magic.

The story picks up where A Fistful of Evil left off. Yet, the author gives the reader enough information to jump into the series if he/she hasn't read the first book. I appreciated that the backstory didn't interfere with the pace. It was doled out a little at a time.

Madison is such a likable character. She's easy to sympath

Just like the last book this was was rife with urban fantasy goodies, from learning how to look into the world of Primordial, to some of the neat tricks that Madison could learn along the way.

The world building remains wonderful. I was reunited with terms that I recognized, as well as new ones and creatures that roam around this new world that Madison is apart of.

Madison, as a character, doesn't grow that much, but she's still funny and entertaining. I think I'll always l

Madison Fox is a newbie enforcer who defends her assigned region from evil. She may have defeated some pretty big foes in the previous book, however she’s still new, and all kinds of things she’s never seen before are popping up.

It looks like someone is trying to discredit her boss, and make him lose his territory, but who could it be? And why? With the help of a few unlikely friends, and a handbook, Madison sets out to find the rogue.

I love how the world of fighting evil

Madison is back, still riding high off her first demon kill. You think that would earn her some brownie points at work, but nope, she's put on mall duty the day after Thanksgiving. Worse, her assignment was to handle citos aka invisible spiders. So now she has handle crazy-ass bargain hunters and least she had an enforcer handbook to educate her about all the creatures inhabiting her region.

After much, much begging, I finally convinced my mom to renew our KindleUnlimited so that I could read A Fistful of Fire, I couldn't even wait 1.4 days for the author to reply to my email (she was VERY nice, that's important, ya know?).

I would be lying if I said that I haven't been stalling with this review. If I write it, it means that I really haven't the next book..that it's time to move on to the next requested book and try to pull myself out of Madison's world..And that's just n

Rebecca Chastain's second book in her Illuminant Enforcer series was even better than the first. This series has been a rare treat with its vivid and unique world, characters that have very unique personalities, and where the unexpected can happen.

A Fistful of Fire picks up a few days after the last book's events ended, so the reader doesn't feel like they are missing out on anything important between books. I feel book could be read as a standalone, but would get more pleasure and u
A FISTFUL OF FIRE is the second Illuminant Enforcer novel, featuring Madison Fox. She’s weathered her first week and come out with her skin and lux intact. However, there are always new problems and there has been an unprecedented rise in evil in Madison’s region and the regions around hers. She’s stuck babysitting holiday shoppers cleaning up the citos which infest them; while “more experienced” enforcers are taking over her region in the name of “helping”. However new Madison is to the enforce ...more

This book starts out a bit slow. Much like the first one with Madison being Madison but things pick up fast after a few chapters. Madison learn quite a lot in this book and does a lot of growing up. Personal and in her new job. She gets used to her still new surroundings much better and adjust much better than the last book, I thought. She also seemed less annoying in this book. We learn about some more new magical creatures along with Madison. We also get to meet some new people and learn new t ...more

Fun read

This series continues to be fun, witty and just overall enjoyable. I like the plot twists and turns. Madison continues to prove her worth as an enforcer and friend. She makes new friends and strengthens others. I keep wondering if her and Niko are ever going to hookup, or if he will be jealous of Dr. Love. Hmm, that is just a name you wonder if he can live up to. Anyways, I am really looking forward to the next book.

I really, really enjoyed both of the books in this series. Even though Madison is a newbie, she has tons of potential. Loved Val and Jamie.

The book improved as the heroine became less flaky and more reliable. I don't enjoy pratfall humour where I am supposed to laugh at the hero's humiliating moments (because all I experience is second-hand embarrassment, which I hate!), so as soon as that portion of the book was past it improved dramatically for me. By the end of the book I was quite enjoying things. I hope I never have to experience Madison shopping with her mother, ever again. :p

The first book was kind of slow and a tad confusing in the beginning but picked up quickly and made me love the heroine, even when she was brash and didn’t listen.
But this book is everything I love to see in a storyline. The heroine is finally learning to stand on her own and not be so green. The monsters and world building are fantastic and I absolutely adore the new addition to her family.
I can’t wait for the next book!
