There’s three things I love: my crew, my ship, and sinking my torpedo.

I wanted to serve my country for life, but then my ship blew up. Now I’m stuck on indefinite shore leave, holed up in my hometown with no crew, no ship, and definitely no women.

Until, after five years, she walks back into my life .

Tabitha Peterson.

Shabby Tabby, the beautiful girl from the wrong side of

One of Joanna's best!

I liked both MC's. I read more about the Hero's ways in the synopsis than I did the actual book. At no point did he ever come across as a manwhore and I didn't have to read about any of his past conquest. He came off as a genuinely nice guy.
I also liked the heroine. She was strong and didn't let what people said or thought about her get her down.

However, I couldn't give it five stars because I got tired of how insecure the heroine was at times and the misunderstanding that

I put in on hold.
I'm not in the mood today for a hero who calls his penis beautiful *cough cough*
Another virgin heroine and another non-virgin hero...
Maybe it would be a completely unique story... *cough cough*, well then it would be my loss...

"Really" is the word that kept coming to mind while reading this book to the point I thought am I Really going to continue to read this story? When the answer was a firm "no" it became a DNF for me.

Is this Really going to be yet another romance book with a manwhore and a 21 plus year old virgin where she never got over him? The added bonus here was that they knew each other throughout grade school and high school and so she was pining for him for a long time. Gabe supposedly wanted Tabby as muc

This is a beautiful 2nd chance romance story that will make you root for both hero and heroine. Gabe Jackson & Tabitha Peterson both had a crush on each other in high school but they something happened to prevent the Tabby from allowing a relationship to proceed. Move Forward 5 years and Gabe ends up coming home –he was injured on the job (his job is military –Navy) and he has come home to recover.
Tabitha is sent to help a patient as his home health caregiver and guess who her patient is? G

Did not really care for this one. I think I was probably on a bit of a high from the last book--Hot Shot--which was soooo enjoyable for me, perhaps my expectations for Torpedo were too high. I didn't care for the characters in Torpedo. It annoyed me how much of a push over and a doormat Tabby was, particularly when she was described a couple times in the book as a "tough girl". Just because she didn't sleep with half the school like the town rumored (because of her Marilyn Monroe-esque physique) ...more

When Gabe makes a move it's hard and fast, "you heard me. I can't have you driving around in that piece of junk." He looked so smug and complacent, lying there in my bed. "And I want you to move in with me." I liked Gabe the man knew how to treat his woman right, I liked this book.

Gosh I have to be very careful with my thoughts on this book - I liked the writing style and the plot - basically this is a solid 4 star read. But something buggs me...

I am a blogger and I read tons of books and from almost the first page on I had the feeling I read that book before ... right down to the name "shabby Tabby" - so I wonder now - did this book get a new name .. new cover or anything because I do not have a review for it under this name AND THIS AUTHOR ... ... so I am careful with m

Tabitha (Shabby tabby) was a true looker at school, gabe was the popular boy good looking he tried to hook up with her, was it a missed opportunity one she regrets. He left as soon as he could only to return injured she's now a part qualified nurse assigned to him.
The chemistry is still there will they get together? Rumours from their childhood cause problems can they overcome them?
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Good book.

This was a cute quick read. The hero and heroine both crossed paths in high school and liked each other but life got in the way and they never really knew it completely... Now years later life puts them back together when she becomes his nurse aid after a military accident... What follows is learning to trust and love...

Really enjoyed this one, until injured, war hero, Gabe lost his mind and begin to believe those ugly lies and rumors about Tabby. Gabe knew the truth about her-what a wonderful and honest woman she is. How could he hurt her like that? Even better will Tabby be able to forgive and forget?

I loved this book. It was sweet and sexy. Didn't want to put it down. Really enjoyed both characters. They fit perfectly together and I loved that they had a history. My only kind of issue was I think Gabe got away a little to easily. He needed to beg a little more for my liking. Lol. Besides that though it was a great read. Definitely recommend this book. =)
A little birdie told me...
All the tropes I hate wrapped in one book (virgins, meek heroines, possessive alpha males who call women "assets," guys who believe lies and act like assholes, treating women like kept whores, sex-means-love declarations one week after meeting, surprise pregnancy). I'm not sure why I finished it.

Oh, did I mention the tons of grammar mistakes?

I know there is an audience for this kind of book, but it isn't me.

This is a fantastic 4.5 star book.
Joanna definitely knows how to keep her readers entertained and Torpedo definitely did this for me.
I was hooked from the cover right up to the last page.
I've not read many second chance romance books but this is one of my favorites so far.

Torpedo is a stand-alone novel with a guaranteed HEA and no cheating! The plot is well written and fast pace, with a lot of drama, banter, humor, great characters, steamy sex, amazing chemistry and a second chance at love for a war hero! What in the ever loving F$&k was that crap

This was an absolute DNF, I had to stop when he all but raped her. This started out as a pretty decent book, a bit too redundant ;but a good premise with what initially seemed like heartfelt characters. Then Gabe turned into ever vilian I've ever read. Tabitha was a girl with absolutely no self confidence who was from the wrong side of the tracks, Gabe was the home town hero who everyone liked. He always had a crush on her and the feelings were mutua

I thought I was going to love this book. The blurb seemed right up my alley. I love military romances with a wounded hero, but THIS story....... I hated it! Can you say emotionally abusive manipulative jerk? There was NO redeeming quality to Gabe at all. None!

When I started this book I was really enjoying it. I always love the wounded soldier falling for their caregiver type romances. Gabe seemed like any normal male hero in a romance, but as you start to get deeper in the book that changes. Gab

I really liked this story by Joanna Blake. Gabe and Tabby know each other from high school...and had a crush on each other. Nothing happened and fast forward to the present. Gabe gets hurt while in the military and comes hope to recuperate. He will need help getting around at home so his mom hires an aide....Tabby. Gabe instantly knows that Tabby is the one for him...Tabby is a bit more reserved and has a hard time believing that Gabe is sincere. I loved the chemistry between the two and how Gab ...more

Torpedo follows the characters of Gabe Jackson and Tabitha Peterson, who both secretly had crushes on one another back in high school, and is a second chance love story of sorts. When Gabe gets injured and is sent back to his mother’s home to recover five years later, he is surprised when none other the Tabitha is assigned his home care nurse. As they work closely with one another, he can’t help but think about the “one that got away”, and begins to come up with a plan to get the girl this time. ...more

I am a big fan of Joanna Blake and I lover her stories. The heroes are always alpha males but with a soft heart that just wants to give his all to his lady. The ladies have a backbone and they don't take any crap from anyone, especially their man! Torpedo is a semi second chance love story as the male lead in this always had a crush on the girl but never followed through. He is now laid up with an injury and she just happens to be his care giver afterwards. He is a guy so does a stupid thing tha ...more

I was in the moody for something quick and lovey dovey. I actually got just what I asked for. I love a man that knows what he wants and goes after it. Gabe wanted Tabby and he made sure to let her know his intentions. Poor Tabby she had a ruff life, being treated like an object to most men, she didn't know what it was like to be around a real man. I will say this book is straight to the point with a HEA ending. My one dislike: I don't like how the book states how attractive the female character ...more

I can't believe I'm saying this but Torpedo is just plain awful. Sorry, not up to par. I came SO close to not finishing. I disliked Gabe so much that I was seriously praying that Tabby leaving town would be the end of the book. Good riddance I say. Tabby was such a sweet and good person whereas Gabe was an arrogant chauvinist alpha-prick. From day one of his recuperation his thoughts made him no better than the guys in the bar that he so disdained. I found nothing appealing in their story and ac ...more

Voluntarily leaving a review. I really enjoyed this fast paced second chance romance. Gabe and Tabitha are an interesting couple and they both make you take notice. Gabe knows who he wants and will go after her. There is a WTF moment and I certainly felt for Tabitha. Then as you keep reading, it hits you in the heart. This is a second chance romance that is worth every moment of the journey for Gabe and Tabitha.

I really liked this Joanna Blake read. I really enjoyed Gabe and Tabitha's relationship it wasn't all about getting down and dirty. Tabby was a very relatable character I loved her, and spirit of trying to do better for herself. Even when she is pissed she was still caring. I thought Gabe turned into an butt over something stupid, I would had made him grovel for a lot longer. Overall a great read

Cute fast read

This was a cute quick read, simple second chance romance story.
The only drawback was the constantly repeated idea that the character was so incredibly gorgeous that her entirely life was spent fending off advances from literally every man she encounters. It's a little over the top.
But the story is sweet and it was a quick read.

Decent read

Liked this book. Characters were pretty good. I liked the premise of the story regarding them having secret crushed on each other... That was genuine. Overall a decent read

It was a quick read and kept in interested but it felt like it was missing something. Maybe I just read too heavy stories and it's different for me to read something this light. I will read more from this author though because it was well writing and edited well.

Torpedo

I really liked Gabe and Tabby's story even though some parts had me furious and yelling but also laughing. (No spoils) Hope you enjoy as much as I did. The second story was just as great.
