Mondez #1

Rock My World

Rate this book
Grace Thompson didn’t want a student teacher. And she sure as hell didn’t want it to be Levi Mondez.

Let’s just say they got off to a rocky start.

To be fair, it wasn’t entirely her fault. How was she to know he was also the lead singer of local rock band, Mondez? How was she to know he got off on her short temper? And how was she to know her best friend, Riley would fall for him?

Hard.

If he wasn’t so damn gorgeous it might have made the whole mess easier for Grace to handle. If he didn’t transform her female parts into a blazing furnace, and if he hadn’t confused the heck out of her already bruised heart, life might have turned out a heck of a lot differently.

But he was, he did, and he had.

She was screwed

I must be feeling a little generous giving this 4STARS where I felt conflicted between 3 or 4.

Honest to who this story had me rolling my eyes and LOL cause you need to meet Grace. She's feisty and she has character which I enjoyed but felt at times a little annoying. Now Levi omg hot rocker (again) yet he's so sweet but not your typical manwhore rockstar.

I liked it and it's worth it and having a BFF and brother just makes it more funnier, and this is why I rated it as I see it.

This is Lee Piper's first book and for a debut she did great. I was sucked into the story, I found it well written. Better than some of the debut books that have hit the market in the past several months. Her characters are developed and although there were times I wanted to smack Grace, I really enjoyed the storyline and the banter between the two main characters. I loved the fact that this story takes place outside of the US and that the author kept with the wording and dialect of her Australian characters.

Grace Thompson has had a rough past year to say the least. Losing her father has to be the hardest challenge in her life. To top it all off her boyfriend at the time of her father's passing dumps her via text message. The only thing that kept her going was her best friend Riley. Grace has grown cold with the world. The once happy, vibrant, outgoing girl is gone and in her place is "Bitch Grace." Queen of the comebacks and snide remarks has made her tough to get along with. One last ditch effort by her roommate and bff has Grace at The Hole, where Riley wants to listen to a local band play and see a guy that she has the hots for. When Riley introduces Grace to Levi, vocalist and frontman for Mondez, an up and coming local rock band.

Levi Mondez seems to have it all together. Studying secondary education and singing for his band. He is sex on a stick. Tall, sexy, handsome as hell and oh so sweet. And a voice that has panties dropping as soon as he hits the stage. When he meets Grace at the last show he and his band will have for several months, he can't help the undeniable attraction that he has toward her. He sarcastic, mouthy attitude gets him going. The more she tries to push him away the harder he fights back. Challenge accepted. He is determined to find out just who hurt her and made her outlook on the world so bleak.

Holy crap! The banter between these two is hysterical at times. Levi dishes every snarky comment right back at Grace and then she comes right back at him again. There is no denying the chemistry between the two of them. If you can't feel it from their first meeting then you need to start over or put the book down...lol Rock My World is a relatively quick read. I loved the secondary characters and this story would not be complete without Riley and Dom. I look forward to reading what comes next in this series.

This was a well written rocker romance.

Grace has been having a very difficult time since her father passes, then her boyfriend breaks up with her through a text message. Graces BFF Riley drags her out to see a band play. Grace is so bitter towards everything and everyone.

When she meets singer Levi, her smart mouth goes into over drive. There is instant chemistry even though Grace fights it because she think Ripley wants Levi. Grace is a teacher and gets a new student teacher Levi.

It seems inevitable they get together. At a conference it all comes to head! The band is discovered at this same time. This couple has struggles to get through. This author does a great job with this couple. Sex scenes are also HOT! HEA ☆☆5 stars ☆☆

*This story is for mature audiences only. Contains explicit scenes and language intended for adults 18+

Synopsis:
Grace Thompson didn’t want a student teacher. And she sure as hell didn’t want it to be Levi Mondez.

Let’s just say they got off to a rocky start.

To be fair, it wasn’t entirely her fault. How was she to know he was also the lead singer of local rock band, Mondez? How was she to know he got off on her short temper? And how was she to know her best friend, Riley would fall for him?

Hard.

If he wasn’t so damn gorgeous it might have made the whole mess easier for Grace to handle. If he didn’t transform her female parts into a blazing furnace, and if he hadn’t confused the hell out of her already bruised heart, life might have turned out a heck of a lot differently.

But he was, he did, and he had.

She was screwed.

My Thoughts:
Good start to a new series. I love a rock star romance and this had a great vibe to it. The story is based in Australia, so it adds a fun twist to it.

The heroine is smart mouthed, snarky and angry. She is missing her beloved father after he passes away. Her mother isn’t in the picture, as she left her family when Grace was young for another man. Her sister is a piece of work, so Grace has one childhood friend that is more like a sister to her, Riley. Grace had a long-term relationship then he breaks up with her by text, the coward. There is a twist here that you will have to read about in the book to find out. Grace just spends her time at work and home and Riley is fed up, so she drags her friend to a local bar to hear an up and coming local band that Riley loves, Mondez.

Levi is a great guy and he is the very talented front man and lead guitarist for his band Mondez. Did I mention he is gorgeous and charismatic? His band consists of his brother, himself and his two cousins. They are very talented and want nothing more than to take the band to the next level. When Levi approaches Riley and her gorgeous friend, all he wants is to take Grace home. When introduced, Levi applies the charm, but Grace wasn’t having it. She was snarky and Levi loved her smart mouth. Grace was intrigued but then she discovered her friend had a crush on Levi. There was no way she was going there.

There is a lot that goes on after this first encounter that Grace tries to control, but the connection between Levi and Grace is too strong to deny. Their paths cross again and Grace feels nothing but guilt for her feelings for Levi and Levi tries to convince Grace that Riley doesn’t have feelings for him. There is a lot of push and pull between the characters. I was really able to see how Grace became so bitter and angry as the book gives you flashbacks into her life.

The secondary characters are fun and there was good character development. I look forward to the next book in this series.

I really have a thing for rock romance, as Lee Piper gave me an original, and highly entertaining on with Rock My World. Grace hasn't been having an easy time lately, and it's made her a bit bitter. Levi is the lead singer of a local rock band, Mondez, who loves to get Grace going. So of course, they get off to a rocky start. Grace is a feisty girl who entertained the hell out of me, even when I thought she was a bit over the top. Levi is a refreshing rocker, as he's sweet, and not the typical manwhore. And I loved them both together. The well placed humor of Levi always trying to light Grace's fire had me laughing. Their instant chemistry shot sparks out of my kindle, especially when her snark is at it's finest. Lee Piper showed a talented writing style that instantly had me, and I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. I don't want to forget to add that the cover is HOT! I'm super excited about this new series, so I cannot wait for the next one to come out. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Loved it. Grace and Levi are rather epic together. Lee Piper has written a wicked story that I just couldn't put down. It was so extremely well written that I was even in tears a few times and to that I congratulate the author, because if you can get me so engaged in your story, well done in deed. I look forward to reading more from this series.

“I knew from the moment I first stared into those laughing blue eyes of his that there was something between us neither one could deny.”

Grace Thompson has trust issues. She doesn’t trust herself or men, in general, after being burnt by an ex-boyfriend. She has also family issues. She’s snarky and smart-mouthed – a tough nut to crack. When she meets sexy rocker, Levi Mondez, in a club one night, she’s completely thrown by the electric attraction between them. However, he’s off limits, as her best friend in the whole world, Riley, fancies him.

“Life well and truly sucked when the one muscular thing you wanted, was the one muscular thing you couldn’t have.”

Levi Mondez is unbelievably sexy and upfront about his desire for Grace. He tries to tell Grace that Riley isn’t interested him, but Grace knows her friend. She keeps trying to push Levi away, but he’s persistent. When work circumstances throw them together, she’s beside herself, as she realises that her attraction is serious, and she has no idea how she’s going to cope working with him, especially when they get sent away to a work conference together. She wants to be loyal to her best friend but Levi is something of a force to be reckoned with, and her libido around him is off the charts.

For me, this was a reasonable read. I’ll be honest and say that I found Grace somewhat annoying – she was such an angry person and had major trust issues, and often just comes off as petulant and bitchy. The story was told completely from her POV and we get lots of flashbacks to the past, which explains her psychology, but I found it hard to emphasise with her.

Levi was incredibly patient with her - it felt like he was doing all the hard work in trying to make their relationship work. He found her frustrating but he felt so much for her and battled hard to make her see that there was something real between, even on such short acquaintance.

Both characters had something of a painful past each, but even after baring their souls to one another, Grace was still hard work. I really wanted her to fight harder for him!

What I liked about this novel was that there was a real connection between the main characters, even though Grace tried to constantly sabotage their relationship. The chemistry between them was amazing. I also liked that Grace had a such a strong relationship with her bestie, Riley, and loved her enough to try and keep Levi at bay. The conclusion was satisfactory with a lead into Riley’s book.

(review request submitted by the author for an honest critique)

Like Levi and Grace, we all have lived through moments in our lives that we cherish fondly or would rather forget entirely. Some of us plaster a smile on our face and continue living as if it's our last day. Some of us turn to a coping device (such as liquor) to just get through a single day. For those who turn to the bottle, like Grace, you soon realize you must face your fears because alcohol solves nothing. It only compounds the problem.

Grace, at times, appeared to have a drinking problem. She turned to it often and I wished Levi would've called her on it. Not that he didn't call her out regarding other things. Grace was scared --- scared of feeling anything anymore after she lost key people in her life.

When life keeps dealing you a rotten hand, it is easy to fall into a self-hating role. Lets face it, Grace was a B!TCH for quite a bit of this story. However, her actions were a mode of self-preservation. I saw that and Levi most definitely saw that too. That's why he never gave up on her. It's why he kept trying to bring some joy, laughter back into her life. Just wait until you read his texts during the conference. You'll laugh out loud one minute and then say Oh baby the next. Levi was a sweet, sexy, dirty talking musician with a heart as big as his penis.

In summation............

Lee Piper showed us the strength it takes to love someone who is broken and the mental struggle a person battles to just let it all go and live again. Not an easy task, as a real person or as a author writing about imaginary people. To have a reader actually feel a character's emotions, feel their pain as your own is a challenging feat BUT Lee conquered this task.

Whether she was focusing on Levi's past, Grace's ghosts or delivering us some sizzlin' sex scenes, the reader will not walk away emotionless. They'll demand a happy ending and will be rewarded with one, too. Of course, it won't happen until a little more drama occurs. Ah, such is life. Always an adventure! ;-)

On a final note: I love Dom (Levis's brother) and Riley (Grace's BFF). I can't wait to find out what Riley was about to confess to Grace before they were interrupted. I just bet it's a juicy secret!! Maybe they are doing the horizontal polka.

BANGOR BELLE BOOK BESTIES

I actually read the second book ( Rock My Body (Mondez #2) first, or should i say devoured it !! So yes i just had to rush and one click this one.

Levi Mondez is just gahhh! Hot and Sexy enuff to die for. He’s not your typical rocker, he’s got heart and soul and he isn’t really a player at all. Although being the lead singer in this new up and coming band, he is also continuing his education towards becoming a teacher.

Grace is a teacher though not long qualified. She isn’t really in a great place emotionally, she has lost her father and is grieving deeply. As if that isn’t enough, her boyfriend left her for someone else, her very own sister!! So needless to say, Grace is all out of emotion and relationships. Isn’t she? Grace and Levi meet one night when Grace accompanies her best friend Riley to watch this new band and instantly there are sparks flying. Levi isn’t at all put off by Grace’s sharp tongue nor her attitude. But just imagine her reaction when this sexy rocker, rocks up to her school and she finds out that he’s there as a student teacher and he’s going to be spending that time in her classes!!!

I loved Grace and Levi’s story, their banter was just hilarious, and Grace’s spunkiness had me literally punching the air a few times. LOL you go girl !!! Levi was just a dream, strong, patient and determined. This author pulls you in but also keeps you on tenderhooks, because you just don’t know how this is going to work out. The more you learn about them the more you realise that neither of them has had a particularly good past and both carry their issue’s with them. It’s a story that keeps you guessing, and keeps you entertained throughout, although at times Grace can be a little irritating, it makes it all a little more real. I now can’t wait for the next book !!! I can very well see this becoming one of my favorite Rocker Series.

Read and reviewed on behalf of I am a Book Hoarder

I struggled while reading this story. I was actually very close to marking this as a ‘did not finish.’ I am however, glad that I persevered. The second half of the book and ending is just perfection.

I found Grace, our main female character, very abrasive at the beginning of the story. That was until we finally learned what she has been through, what preciously has structured her evolution from young happy woman to a brash, sarcastic, foul mouthed miserable person. Once we learn her back story, which was slightly hinted at throughout the first half of the book, everything makes sense in terms of how she acts and who she is. Grace has been, in no unspoken terms been through hell, and she has survived. Honestly, I don’t know if I would be any different in her shoes. My only wish is that we learned more about her back story and the why she is the way she is earlier in the story.

Levi is just WOW. He his kind, understanding, forgiving, sexy… he is seriously the whole package and so much more. He is the real reason I kept reading this story. I wanted to see how two broken souls could mend each other; I wanted to see if Levi was strong enough to look his past in the face and move on, I wanted to see if he could persevere and find happiness and love with Grace.

At the end of the daily Rock My World is the story of two very lost souls. Neither are looking for love but something just clicks when they first meet. I happily give this story 4 stars, the second half and ending just made the book!

PS... I am read for Riley and Dom's story! :)

Not a run of the mill rock star romance

I loved Grace and her snarky attitude as I love intelligent, sassy yet vulnerable heroines and Levi is nicely done as well as the sexy up-and-coming rock god who also enjoys Grace's snark. Their banter is a lot of fun and they have great chemistry together. There are also some interesting secondary characters and I was intrigued by the glimpses we got of Riley and Dom (their story is coming in book 2).

I really enjoyed the set-up; it's definitely not a run of the mill rock star romance. The story kept me engaged, with plenty of twists to keep it interesting and there was one major twist at the end that I definitely did not see coming. The pacing was generally good, though the ending did feel just a little rushed to me; it felt like maybe some things were getting left out so they could be included in the second book.

I was very impressed by how well written this story was for a first novel but then noticed in the author's bio that she was an English teacher, so no wonder. A great debut and I will be keeping an eye out for upcoming books from this author. 4 stars.

Grace's life hasn't been the same since her dad died and then her boyfriend dumps her by text so when her friend demands she goes out and enjoys herself, Grace reluctantly agrees.

So then she meets the hot and smooth talking Levi, Grace can help help but turn into brash and unforgiving Grace, too hurt by everything in the world, her feisty attitude comes out to play and I think that's what Levi likes about Grace and she a challenge.

Grace originally thinks her friend Riley is interested in the musician so she backs off, but really there is no denying the chemistry between Levi and Grace, so will Grace be willing to give love another chance with Levi?

I did like the book, but I don't know if it was for me, it was missing something and I can't really say what because I know it wasn't badly written, its just I couldn't really connect with Grace at times.

This book was good. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I was so engrossed in this book, luckily my daughter had already went to bed!

Grace doesn't do much these days outside of work and drink, ever since her father's death and her boyfriend and sister's betrayal. Riley is the closest thing to family that Grace has and she drags her out to a bar one night where they watch Mondez play, AFTER Grace gives Levi a verbal lashing. Grace is so far off the reservation with some of her assumptions that it's comical to watch the outcome and everything.

Levi is a cocky bastard and he knows it. He is so attracted to Grace but she's just so damn stubborn. It's funny to watch the game of cat and mouse they play throughout the book.

The only issue I had with this ARC is the way it was formatted. I really hope that the formatting is different in the actual published version of this book. Otherwise, no complaints from me. 4*s

This is an unusual read for me has "bands" don't do it for me. But the main character won me over. Grace has a long list of issues which is why she reacts the way she does without thinking. Auto-protecting herself has she has been just had in the past. so when Levi rocks into her life on a night out (dragged shall we say) her wall are up and the smart mouth protects her...
but what she was not exspecting that Lexi likes her feisty side... but her bff is intereded in him... it is she?
Will Grace back off for good for will she let them walls down and let people back in again... including Levi??

Very well written. The author takes you straight into the story and keeps you interested and wondering how this may end.

This is the first time I have read any of this authors work, and I cannot wait to read more. Grace has had a tough life which has left her closing people out. When she is dragged by her BF to a rock concert she meets Levi. There is an instant attraction between these two. No spoilers from me though, you really need to read this one for yourself!!
This is a fun, entertaining and sweet read; which has a twist. The author has done a great job with this story, and I recommend her work for all lovers of romance and rock stars.

Grace has had a tough life, specifically the last year. Events have made her more closed off from people and emotions. Riley her BFF drags her to a club to see a band. The lead singer, Levi, sparks something in Grace. And she's not appreciating it. Especially when Levi is her new student teacher.

Levi has been into Grace from day 1 and wants to spend more time with her. How fortunate that he'll be mentoring under Grace

A sweet, story with twists and turns. Nothing is as it seems for Grace or for Levi.

Warning: contains some spoilers.

Levi and Grace, these two have the kind of relationship that you will consider as challenging or exhausting. I like their story, don't get me wrong, but there will come a point that you will find them toxic together. Add to that Grace's abrasive personality that you just can't find her endearing, if not for those bits of instances that will make her likeable, at least. I just hope that the twist at the end could have been expounded a bit. Despite all these, this is still a good and entertaining read.

The best part of the story is the set-up of how Grace meets Levi. The student/mentor teacher aspect is set up great! It keeps you engaged with both of the main characters. There are a few twists that will grab you by the half-way mark.

Watching the transformation of Grace was a little shaky for me. I liked her character and how she would get up the hill and start rolling back down. You will yell at the kindle on this aspect for sure. The steamy factors are pretty good too!

*** Warning: Contains small spoilers ***
When I first read the summary for this book I was interested. A book about romance and rock musician. That is exactly what I love. Now I know that my first reaction was correct. I loved this story. I couldn’t put it down! It affected me on a deeper level. I could totally relate to the main character Grace. She is recovering from a break up with the first man she thought she loved and the death of her father. I myself know both pains. She deals with it by being guarded and pushing people away. Her best friend Riley forces her to go to a club one night to see the band Mondez play and she meets Levi. Right away they are attracted to each other, but not in the way you’d expect. He matches her attitude and sarcastic remarks but as he continues to be in her life she realizes that this man that annoys her so much might actually make her feel the opposite. But there are so many complications in her life and heart.
I don’t want to give anything else away. The story is so much fun and the reader will get lost in it. I felt myself fully feeling for the characters and wishing I could be in the story. Especially to hear Mondez play! I am very excited that this is book 1 and can’t wait for more in the serious.
If you enjoy a good love story or a story of healing the heart, this is a good book for you. Especially if you are a fan of rock bands. You will be craving the next in the series.

Let me start off by saying that I love rock romances but this book is so much more than that. Both characters are down to earth and have dealt with quite a lot in regards to their pasts so when they finally come together they are the perfect match.
The main character Grace, is a fiesty, tells it like it is type of girl, who does everything not to come across as she needs anyone until she meets Levi, the rocker with the oh so sensitive side. Grace believes that Levi is just your typical rockstar; but we soon realize that he’s got heart and soul and he isn’t really a player at all.
Grace isn't really in a great place emotionally, she has lost her father and is grieving deeply. As if that isn’t enough, her boyfriend left her for someone else, her very own sister!! She has literally given up on relationships because she has been so badly burnt in the past. Levi is the only person besides her BFF that can break that wall she has built around her heart.
I LOVED the banter between Grace and Levi! They knew exactly when to push each other's buttons and when to be sensitive to each other's issues in relation to their pasts. They both helped each other overcome some trust issues and as a result they realised that they were each other's person. This novel had everything you would want in a great romance and I would recommend it to anyone who loves rockstar romances with a great deal more depth. Great job Lee Piper on this debut novel!

4.5 stars really. I have to say that I ended up really enjoying this book. I have really become a huge fan of rock star romances since reading both the Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott, as well as the Sinful Serenade series by Crystal Kaswell. It is so cool then to read in the author's bio below that Kylie Scott was her inspiration. I have a feeling that Lee Piper will now be another rock star romance author favorite of mine. I really liked the characters. Grace was pretty realistic to me, I could see a lot of my own attitudes and insecurities in her. I feel like she mostly reacted to situations in ways that were realistic. Now, I guessed the twist with her friend Riley pretty early on in the story, but I guess it wouldn't have made for as much drama/suspense if Grace had figured it out sooner. Levi was pretty sexy, and I definitely was into him.

An incredibly delectable, irresistable story that just left me breathless. I could not get enough and inhaled this story in one sitting. As an Aussie girl, I knew a lot of the geography the author described and it was beyond a pleasure to read.

The story flowed effortlessy and flawlessly. The characters blended so well together, and the addictive style this author possesses has me stalking Amazon for all other books written by Lee Piper. Discovering Lee Piper was like all my christmas' had come at once.

Rock My World certainly did. My world won't be quite the same. It is so much better now I have these books in my life. Apologies if I sound crazy, but books are my passion, and if an author has such a profound effect on me, then I want to let them know the joy they have brought to my life.

Oh my gosh this book was so good loved everything about it i'll definitely be reading more Lee Piper books in the future . The characters were really likable , the couple were perfect for each other , the story line kept me hooked till the very end , and the sex lets talk about the HOT SEX going on . Grace was a very complex heroine but once we get to know the reason why she is the way that she is my heart completely shattered for her no one should ever be betrayed in that way I really liked her character it is unique and was different then a bubbly nice heroine , the only person that she could trust is her best friend and then she meets the tall glass of water that leaves her parched . Levi just writing his name makes me shiver he was a super hot alpha hero with a wicked tongue and swoon worthy . When they meet it was a total misunderstanding/hilarious with the heroine fighting her attraction it reaches a point to were she can't fight the intentness that has become them . The sex scenes were really hot and steamy . The secondary characters were really lovable I can't wait to read their story I'm so excited .

Nice story

The girl drove me nuts. Also the guy was clueless on that friend of his when she showed up and ignored Grace. I wish I could have heard the conversation that he had with that friend. I'm sure she would have said something. But I'll never know.

This is the first book I read by Lee Piper and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s about one smoking hot rocker, Levi Mondez, and Grace Thompson a school teacher. The banter between these two will keep you in stitches.

Grace is a grade 10 English teacher. She is good at what she does but has had a series of events that have kind of been rough on her. First off, her Dad, whom she was close to as well as shared her love of literature passed away. And on top of that her boyfriend dumped her via test message! Her mood is in the pits and when Riley wants to go out for the evening she invites Grace to go with her to The Hole. Lucy reluctantly agrees.

Levi is the lead singer for the band MONDEZ. You could call him sex on a stick, with gorgeous blue eyes and totally lickable. His last night to play at The Hole he meets Grace. Grace is there with her BFF Riley. Here’s where the problem lies…. Riley is crazy about Levi.

When Grace and Levi meet, there is an undeniable chemistry between them. Levi pushes Grace’s buttons and in return her abruptness and dirty talk is a total turn on to him. Grace can only think of how her Riley has the hots for Levi and up comes the BFF code. There is no way she is going to act on this attraction.

Just when Grace believes that she has made Levi understand that there will be nothing between them and to leave her alone the other shoe drops. She finds out that Levi will be her student teacher for the next six weeks. Holy crap! How the hell are they going to be able to work with each other? Then to make matter worse the two of them are being sent to a conference together for a week.

What will happen when the panty dropping Levi are on their own?

Will Levi be able to push the right buttons to get Grace in his arms?

Rock My World is a fun and fairly quick book to ready. If you like rockers I really believe that you will love this book too.

This book was okay. It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible. With Levi and the whole teaching angle, it felt like there was a lot more that could have been done with it. All this back and forth with Katrina and Grace's feelings about her, then all of a sudden Grace is okay with her boyfriend going to spend six weeks with her, I'm not buying it. This had the potential to be an amazing story, but the story fell flat.

Uncaged Book Reviews:

This book is full of wit, sarcasm, and it’s a smart and fun romance. Seeing if two people can learn to trust each other, and get through the obstacles of not only the past, but their future, is a great ride and I didn’t want to miss a word. Bottom line, I loved the book. Well written with characters you can get easily attached too, and I’m hoping there will be more of Grace and Levi in the future. Levi can serenade me any time.
