Lexie Carrigan has just arrived at her dream college, and she finds it's not all it's cracked up to be. Faced with having to hide her magic from roommates and new friends, she struggles to find her footing in a new world. Luckily, she's rebuilding her relationship with Gavon and her sisters — and focused on helping to repair the tear that Gavon made as a boy.
But as Lexie navigates her new world, she begins to question what old enemies are up to — and whether Gavon is being entirely truthful about them. And when an unexpected visitor shows up, she's sure that if she's not already involved, she's going to get sucked into it soon enough. Just as long as her nonmagical roommate doesn't find out.

*I’d like to thank the author for providing me with an e-arc of this beauty. And I’d also like to apologize for taking so long to build up the courage to get into it!
Ever since the Lexie Carrigan Chronicles began, I’ve been in love with the way Evans managed to incorporate magic into Lexie’s everyday life and how she struggled to have a normal life like everyone around her because of it. And you can bet that I loved it even more in this last installment with the way Lexie struggles to find her place and make new friends in her first year of college. I really enjoyed how she worked through her college experience while also being active on Gavon’s never ending research to get rid of that tear that ruined his life in a way and blessed it in many others. If there is something I completely loved about this book—besides the college experience—, was the importance of the relationships between the characters as Lexie works to heal and strengthen her relationship with what’s left of her family after all they’ve been through. Also, the way Lexie fought to trust Gavon and give him a chance and work towards something that could be a good, cute and healthy father-daughter relationship and eventually a whole family—something she’d never known—was very touching and showed me just how far that little girl who woke up one day shooting magic balls from her hands and almost burned her house down has come.
As usual, Evans does a great job through her writing at making this a fast and easy to follow read. The thing I loved the most about it was how in the beginning, she manages to basically summarize everything that Lexie has gone through since the first book and it’s a great way to get back in touch with the Lexie world after all this time!
Since Lexie’s now going to her dream college, we get to move up from her house in Florida with Nicole, to her college dorm with a new roommate she doesn’t know how to approach about her magic—or if she can even confide such a thing with her. Since Georgetown University is in Washington, D. C. and Lexie is trying her best at making new friends and trusting people, we get to visit quite a few places like history museums, a restaurant where she usually meets up with Sam and her friends where they play trivia night and so, and an unexpected yet very interesting place that turned out to be an academy for magicals just like her! Something that not even Lexie herself knew existed! As Gavon gets to visit old friends in search of allies and answers to the many questions he still has, he takes Lexie along with him around the world, taking her to visit some places around the world like Rome, Spain and even Japan!
Now, on this last installment, we get to meet old and new characters alike but we’re mostly dealing with old ones that we know either from Lexie’s past or Gavon’s. I loved meeting again with Lexie, who was as hard-headed as usual, and Marie and Nicole, but I also loved meeting some new characters like Guy (Nicole’s boyfriend), Sam (Lexie’s new roommate) and her friends Chris, Dave, and a pair of sisters called Vicky and Amanda. I loved how they all tried to make Lexie feel comfortable and establish a friendship with her, yet my girl wouldn’t budge because she struggled to reach out to people and open to them after the turn of events that came to be in the second book of the series. I also loved the fact that when Gavon and many of his old friends met there was this proud father moment whenever they confused Lexie with Nicole and he ended up letting them know that Lexie was actually her baby and a college student! He was both a show off and the cutest! And I love Gavon, have I said that before? No? Well, now you know! We also get to meet more old characters like Irene, Cyrus and even James, but hmm, what could they be working on this time?
In the end, this fourth and last installment of the Lexie Carrigan Chronicles gave the series a swift end by uniting the past with the present as Lexie and Gavon tried their best at finding a final solution to the tear that changed their lives forever and was still causing problems to this day. I loved meeting up with old and new characters and how they all managed to work together, leaving their differences aside, for the greater good of not only the present, but also the future generations of magicals and non-magicals alike! I still can’t believe this is the end, but after that ending, I’m more than okay with it!
P.S. I’m very proud of my girl Lexie and how she dealt with everything she went through and if you haven’t, you should definitely go check out how her journey ends!
( I received a digital copy of the book . Thanks to Usher Evans !! )
So this is the last book in the series and the story continues from where the last book ended. Lexie is now in college and she is having a tough time with all the things on her platter. She keeps wanting some things failing to realize that those are right in front of her. All she needs to do is open her eyes to them. But finally she discovers it and everything turns out well.
I really liked the story a lot. Just there wasn't much about college life and studies. At least not as I had expected from the author after reading the first book. The first book gives an idea about real high school wherein you actually have to study and really work. Marks don't just come out of nowhere.
Otherwise everything else was really good. I was hoping for more of Lexie and James but the story was great as it is.
After reading this book, I wanted to write and post this review to share my honest experiences toward the story. What an amazing conclusion! I have been completely blown away by this spectacular series. I must say, the author really has a talent for writing and weaving such amazing stories. The plot is so rich, the characters have so much depth and the worldbuilding is just amazing. I cannot even begin to describe the joy I felt reading this series. As a conclusion, this book did not disappoint, that heart-pounding final conflict and the stakes at their highest, made this such a thrilling read. Satisfyingly fast paced and action packed, this urban fantasy is definitely one you need to add to your TBR list if you love urban fantasy.
I love this series so much and it gets better with each book. Drama and danger tend to follow Lexie everywhere she goes even when she's not looking for it. Ha! I'm sad to see this great series end, I want more. I'm selfish like that. Lol. The drama from book 3 with the boyfriend is finally explained in this book so the series does wrap up nicely.
If you love magic, drama and danger, pick up this series! You won't regret it.
Fantastic finish to the series. I'm sorry to see it end, but I was surprised and excited by the way that different threads from the previous books were ties together in this final one. The relationships between the characters never stagnate; we're always learning new things about them, and they do the same with each other. The importance of family and personal integrity are something else that I've loved about this series from the beginning.
