Once upon a time, in a parallel universe, the Olympians–a superior civilization the Ancient Greeks worshiped as gods–vowed to stop meddling in human progress. To prevent such interference, the cult of Nike erected barriers between our universe and theirs. On our world, the Olympians receded into myth and legend, continuing to inspire art, music, and stories to this day. But the “gods” left a little more behind than just great material for paranormal romance novels. Their descendants–part human, part Olympian–live among us, with no idea of their extraterrestrial heritage. Until now. The halflings are awakening on Earth, caught in the middle of a conflict ages in the making...
Genie Cho was ambitious, a dedicated student, and–as president of her sorority, Alpha Rho–a promising leader. Until she made some new, otherworldly–and dangerous–friends. They opened her up to a world of magic, a world where everyone had special powers. They promised her eternal life. But something went wrong, and Genie wound up dead.
Her untimely death has shaken all of her sorority sisters, but hits Rebecca Grey especially hard. Ever since her roommate’s passing, Rebecca’s sleepless nights have been filled with nightmares. Rebecca even thinks she hears Genie’s voice sometimes, calling out for help. Although some of her sisters remain skeptical, Rebecca is convinced that Genie’s ghost is still out there somewhere and needs their help to move on.
Join Rebecca and the Alpha Rhos on their journey to lay Genie’s spirit to rest, a quest that takes them beyond the safety and comfort of their sorority house to the gates of the Underworld.
S.L. Stacy is the Amazon bestselling author of the Reborn series, including the novels Reborn, Relapse, Reclaim, and Retribution, and two novellas, Revenge and Rectify. She currently resides in Massachusetts with her husband, near a pond that is home to a surprising variety of creatures, including two swans that visit every spring. Her overactive imagination has her convinced the swans are actually two human lovers under some sort of curse that must be broken.
Revenge is a short story in S.L. Stacy’s Reborn series, and it gives an interesting insight into characters that play an important role without being the centre of the story. With Revenge, the reader gets to find out a little bit more about them while enjoying a quick ghost story.
I’ll be honest and say that my love/hate relationship with short stories meant that I did not love this in the way other people are likely to love it. For me, it made for a nice little bonus. It was extra content, something I quickly devoured in no time. It filled in some blanks, yet it did not feel vital to the overall series.
Although not quite for me – see my love/hate comment – I can certainly see lots of people enjoying this quick bonus.
Revenge is a great companion novella to the Reborn series by S.L. Stacy. It’s a quick read, but it keeps you engaged the whole time. I actually think this book would be a fantastic choice to read for Halloween. It had that sort of feel (which I loved!)
At the end of the book there’s some bonus material too; some additional scenes from previous books in the series.
Fans of the Reborn series are definitely want to give Revenge a read.
