As a little girl, I saw my father destroy the family he claimed to love. I watched my mother waste her life dreaming of a man who left her without a second glance.

As a woman, I don’t dream, I work. I don’t fall in love, I focus. I would never let anything as frivolous as love distract me.

Until I meet Simon. A gorgeous, brilliant young architect with dark eyes, a sweet sm

What a beautiful story! You have a beautiful, mocha, fierce and sexy woman. Now, let’s add a sexy as hell, sex on wheels chocolate man. I mean come on. What more do you need?

– Well, of course, we need some damn good writing. Hello, folks, let me introduce Rise.

From the moment I saw this cover I was intrigued. It's STUNNING. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it!

Then I got it, and all I can say is wow! I am pumped from reading Rise, I happen to love EVERY SINGLE thing about it. And it's a DEBUT! Like holy crap, if this is how Dylan starts her writing career I cannot wait to see how she builds on it.

Rise was brilliant. The story progressed in a really stunning way, I felt the pull between Addie & Simon almost instantly.

A brilliant 3.5 stars indeed!!

RISE was an intriguing contemporary romance story about one's reluctance to truly connect with another or to find love and happiness. Both Addison and Simon came from broken homes filled with broken dreams and broken hearts. They both focused to rise above the circumstances of their youth to achieve success. Simon's goal was to provide a better and stable life for his family. Addie's was to prove to herself and others that she

There are times when you get recommended new authors off friends and readers alike who say READ THIS BOOK WILL YOU? so of course I said ok, ok then. And boy am I happy I did.

This is a unique story about two souls whom are given criminal parents and so by fate find their way and purpose for their lives by working hard and thrive on achieving success on their own... yet they meet and finding something in each other they NEED.

"I think you might be the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I feel tormented by it."

Some stories don't need all the bells and whistles to make it great. Sometimes the story is told in such a way that the simplicity of it with complex characters makes it perfect. Sometimes you don't need all the extra unnecessary drama or plot twists, sometimes the story is amazing the way it is. Rise was definitely a book that didn't need all of thi

Whewww!!!!! So good!

This story is high-stakes drama from the first page to the very last with hot interludes and sweet scenes in between. My emotions were battling the entire time: Was it the drama that kept me reeled in or was it the budding romance between Addie and Simon that kept me reading. It was a perfect blend of both.

Addie and Simon are the perfectly imperfect couple in this story of secrets, lies, and hawt, hawt, hawt lovin! Set primarily in London, Addie is basically an ex-pat on the

This was a great debut by Dylan Allen. The prologue hooked me immediately. Also Addie's and Simon's background story was very intriguing. Their first meeting was fun and sexy. I would have appreciated, that their relationship was more slowly developed because I never got that deeper love or intense connection from them. Yes, I could feel their attraction towards one another but it was more insta-lust which was a shame. It had potential to be more if just it had taken its time.

Right now I'm wondering what rock I was living under that I'm just reading this book now. This was absolutely brilliant! Addie and Simon's story will stay with me for a long time. Officially one of my favorite couples!

From their first meeting Addie and Simon are drawn to each other. They each have their reasons for avoiding relationships but there is an undeniable magnetism between these two.

Rise is a debut novel but you wouldn’t know it. It is quite well written with a very interesting plot and well developed characters.
Addie did not have a normal upbringing – at a young age, Addie suffered the lost her father who is a wanted fugitive - disappeared into thin air with 20 mil. Addie’s mother seems to live in denial, never really facing the reality of her family’s situation. Addie’s two sisters move on with their lives soon after, attending colleges far away and leaving Addie behind.

C'mon... *looks around suspiciously* are we sure this is a debut author?? I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the story substance, the character development, the love story, the dual POV, the build, the fall, the RISE of this entire body of work.

I actually was able to connect to this book on a very personal level which made the start of this book difficult to read; I actually reached chapter 4 and had to restart the book. Once I did that, I couldn't put it down. Addie is this determined, strong, int

So, I read my first Dylan Allen book last year, Envy and have been hooked ever since. I can’t believe that this one is her first debut novel! I certainly never would have guessed that. Addie is everything you’d want in a heroine. Smart, sexy, gorgeous, determined and proud. She puts up a good front in trying to hide the hurt from her past, but Simon sees right through to the smile that doesn’t fully reach her eyes.

Simon, oh how I love this man. He has everything on his shoulders, inc

Dreams aren't made of fairy tales and romance, they are made of hard work and grit.
At the risk of sounding ridiculously pretentious, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is what self/independent publishing is all about: a chance to experience the raw talent of a great new author.

When Addie was 13, her loving father disappeared with millions of dollars he embezzled from his employer. She never got over the abandonment, but she's determined not to turn out like he

I couldn't wait to read this after finishing Remember. Yes, I technically read the books out of order, but since they can be read as standalones, it didn't matter. I wanted to know all the things about Addie and Simon and their story didn't disappoint!

Addie is such a driven and closed off individual following the events of her childhood. She has hidden her scars and tried to distance herself as much as possible from that life. Simon also has been dealt a tragic set of cards and has struggled to

This was a enjoyable debut and it was a pleasure to see the writing skills and ability of a new author, as I got drawn into the drama and story. There are so many great facets to RISE and it all started with that pretty cover. That cover gave me the perfect visualisation for Addie. The book is beautifully diverse in terms of characters and backgrounds; I would love to see more of this style in contemporary romance. I hope Dylan Allen will continue to represent diversity as she writes;

This is a 5 star read for me. Not because I was lucky enough to get an ARC. This is a 5 star read for me because I had all the feels while reading this story!

I immediately hated Matthew, I was frustrated with Simon, I was sad for Addie, I felt for Kyle and what he had to overcome, I was tearfully happy with the ending and can't wait to read more in this series. Simon and Addie had great chemistry and their scenes were beyond hot. This story has everything I look for and more. I loved the second

One of the things I love about reading is discovering new authors and their stories. Dylan Allen is such an author, not only is she a new author for me, Rise is also her debut book. To be honest, I almost couldn’t believe Rise is the author’s first book, it’s very well-written with realistic characters and a great story line, I love it.

What a intriguing story this was..

ARC received in exchange for an honest review

When I read the description for Rise I realised it’d be the kind of book I’d like to read and I was right.

Addie and Simon are so interesting. They’ve both been hurt, been abandoned by ones that they love and don’t know how to move past the hurt and anger they feel and it’s so sad to see just how much it has affected them both.

Their pasts are heartbreaking and devastating, things that should never happen to children

So I took a chance on this book and this was the best risk I have ever taken. I love the characters and the fact that we have a chance at seeing what they are both feeling. I'm definitely going to buy the next book! I am also going to follow this author for further novels.

I recommend this book and all its small errors to any reader who is dying for a great Happily Ever After!

This was a nice debut story that I enjoyed as a whole, but it didn’t quite get to me as I expected. The stunning cover was the thing that got my attention at first. It was truly beautiful. So I decided to go in blind.

The story started promising and after the prologue I had very high expectations about this book. The writing was OK and the beginning was intriguing but then I felt like something was missing for me and couldn’t quite connect with the heroes. The push and pull moment although it was

Rise started out pretty promising and I was hooked from reading the prologue. In this story we follow Addie, a young woman with a traumatic past thanks to her father. As a successful accountant he brought a lot of hardships to his family when he stole money and fled the country, leaving behind his wife and three children. As a result her family had to face the world on their own, and go through tons of negative attention from

What can I say? Hard to find words to describe this book! Full of emotion and so much love in a story. Addie and Simon have so much chemistry! Their background made them so much stronger. A perfect book for hot romance lovers looking for a good storyline. I'm in awe with this book. Definitely one of my favorites
“Rise” is a debut written by a woman I adore, so I *might* be a little biased, but I’m recommending you readers give this one a try. It’s a great, multicultural romance featuring two smart characters who fight hard to make the most of their present and future by refusing to let their traumatic pasts interfere. It took a bit of time to get into it (I didn’t feel like it flowed until around the 1/3 mark), but once it picked up, I was entrenched in this smooth and mature love story. I recommend thi ...more

Fact - best thing about the indie community is discovering & supporting new Authors & I'm so damned happy to have found & loved Dylan Allen's debut novel RISE. For this to be her first book, it was captivating, angsty & heart-achingly sad in all the right ways that left me hooked to Simon & Addie's story loooong after my bedtime. The need to follow them on their journey & see if they got to have their HEA took over all common sense, but I'm pleased to say it was bloody

Now that Taylor Swift's lyrics have your attention, you should read this book if love stories are your thing. If not, then you should read this book if stubborn girls entertain you. If not, then you should read this book if you like guys who like Beyonce. If not, then you probably should read another book.

I was introduced to this story by a dear book girlfriend (Thanks Amber!) who had nothing but incredible things to say about it. I’ll be honest, I put it off for a while. I’m not even sure why. I just kept adding books above it on my TBR. When the day finally came that I cracked the spine (err… swiped the smart phone screen?) on this bad boy, I knew instantly the story would stick with me forever.
