I was so excited to finally read this. And then radically disappointed. Let me state that I have loved All five of the Dragonian novels and both the other 2 novellas. Absolutely adore them!! BUt this was too little info, too fast. While it says it is 219 pages, each page only has a few sentences or a short poem on it. Entire book took under 1 hr to read.
Very little new insight to Blake's character if you read the last book. Much of the poems are referred to even. I was really hoping for more depth, anger or angst that didn't come across the way I had hoped. My opinion-this was not worth the cost. A free bonus sure. MAYBE 99 cents but I doubt even that. I hoping more DarkBeam. Since that is a full blown novel, I hope to enjoy it more. I still have faith in the Dragonian world!

I think it's a mistake for this book to be called 0.5, some of it does take place before Firebolt; however, it continues on. There are a lot of details about Thunderlight and even Frostbite that could spoil some big things about those two books. And there's even more after the ending of Frostbite but I can't say if it's spoiler-y or not since I haven't read Moonbreeze or Starlight yet. I enjoyed getting into Blake's head for once. It was a vastly different place from Elena. However, I understand the "evil Elena" a little bit more after seeing Blake's perspective and constant struggle with the darkness. It is kind of a miracle that Blake didn't turn sooner. I also understand why Blake is such a jerk now too, though I'm still mad at him for ditching Elena in Poison.

The Journal of Blake Leaf is a recollection of Blake’s poems and his thoughts, one of the main characters of The Dragonian series. It is what it says in its title, a journal.
Even though it is marked as a prequel, it should be read after finishing The Dragonian series, if not it will spoil the second and the third book of the series. For those who get too tired of Elena by the end of the first book and just want to know the ending, should read this installment and then jump to the end of the fifth book.
The journal gives too much information, compared to the rest of the series in a fast-paced tempo. Even though, it does not cover much of the fourth and fifth books and doesn’t go till the end of the series which is sad. The last book might be the most interesting one. It would allow us to see the story from Blake’s point of view, his internal change and struggle.
The conflict between Blake’s consciousness and his dark side was something A.Woods showed during the series and we get glimpses of it in this journal, but there is little new insight on Blake’s character. Nothing new is added to the story.
It is confusing, but every person’s journal is. It has good poems and L.Cherry did a great job showing Blake’s character in them.

I absolutely love the dragonian series however I don’t feel this book is very necessary I only paired for it as a kindle book so it didn’t cost me much I think if I had paid the full price for the paper back book I would have been disappointed I knew the book was going to have mostly poems and thoughts in however I found the book had no new information in it all his thoughts and a large number of the poems can be found through the other books in the series and a large chunk of the thoughts and information can be found in the rubicon series which is told from Blake’s POV I wouldn’t bother getting this book just go read the three rubicon books there was more interesting

Astounding
4 stars from me. I loved reading the poems and the personal thoughts that convinced Elena the dent was real and to forgive Blake. I wish more was written for after the war and the surprise he gave Elena.

A true journal
I fell in love with the dragonian series and had to find out what was in Blake's journal. Readers will find poems, drawings, scribbles, and thoughts from before Elena arrived till the end of the series. Some will note that its the same as what Elena read. But it still gives more insight. I enjoyed the little look into his mind.

I liked it because it saved me from reading books 2 and 3 of the series. I was able to dive into book 4 and 5 and move on with my life. Please note- this book is oddly formatted with layered text that is kind of wacky. just like a teen dragons journal should be.

You have to have read the other books in the serie before you read this one or else is it going to spil the books. It was hard to read because the word stood over each other, but other than that, was it a good book and gave a inside in what Blake though and feelt before he met Eleina.

this one was amazing ! written in true journal style. would have wished it was a bit longer (greedy much;P ) but totally worth the read !
