Story 1 - Jake's Story

I LOVED LOVED AND LOVED Jake's Story. It was everything perfect. Jake, a carpenter, has reached a nowhere small town for work and meets Trooper Blue when he is stopped for speeding. They again meet at the bar and the rest as they say is history. The story was short sweet, unbelievably sexy and completely endearing. I loved Trooper and Jake and their sexy explosive chemistry. There were oodles of emotions and also dirty hot sex. A little bit of angst was also

All three of these stories were entertaining, each one had something I really enjoyed. I though the second story about the chili cook-off was so clever, I just wish it would have been more complete, she could have done so much more with it. I rounded up because overall, it was a good time.

A man walks into a bar ... and in Lissa Ford's novella of three short stories meets a sexy North Carolina Trooper, a tall ginger with a buff bod, and a bearded hipster in flannel.

Jake's Story - Traveling to a short-term carpentry job, Jake meets North Crolina Trooper Landry Blue and they become fuck buddies for Jake's week in town. The sex is very primal dirty sexy with a backdrop of Carolina humidity and the slow pace of a small southern town. Ultimately very sweet and a well-deserved HFN/HEA

Ch. 1 Five Stars! Marvelous little story with rich characters and atmosphere. I loved Jake, the New Yorker that traveled south for carpentry and construction work. He gets nabbed for speeding through a barely-a-spot-on-the-map small town by Trooper Blue and then meets him again at the local diner. Looks are exchanged, subtle clues given and a hot one night stand turns into a week, as Jake gets kept at his temporary job. Lissa Ford did a fantastic job of building their connection and completely ...more
3.5 stars rounded up because BLUE AND JAKE!

When I saw one pop-up on Goodreads I thought:
Oh, sounds like 3 one-night-stand stories. Pretty much porn with no emotion. I think I'll pass.

But then I noticed it was written by Lissa Ford. I love her work so I took a chance and I am SO GLAD I did. The first story, Jake and Blue, was a spectacular 5 star read for me. (And HELLO COVER!)

Jake’s Story
Two men, honest, hard-working and good down to their toes. Definitely book-boyfriend material! And Blue and

4 stars for the first story, and 3 stars for the other two. I love Lissa Ford's writing and the first story is sexy as hell. I just wish the endings weren't tentative HFNs.

Excellent quick read. Jake's story was my favorite. Sexy cop vs. carpenter.
Jake’s Story
Jacoby (Jake) Winthrop is a carpenter trying to make ends meet. He’s driving to a job site when he is stopped for speeding. Office Landry Blue tickets him and allows Jake to go his way. Jake is late and upon arriving he knows he won’t be invited to work another day. But he’s a hard worker and his employer for the day sees it and makes him an offer to stay for a week. After a day of hard work Jake frequents the only great affordable establishment to eat at. That’s where an off duty

I loved the three stories. They were fun and sexy. Definite re-read in the future. The MCs were all adorable in their own way, even Mack the jerk. Very fun reads!

Favorite quotes:
" 'Sometimes it only takes one person to change a whole life.' "
" 'You just gotta be brave enough to make the change.' "
" 'Eff off, Creepazoid.' "
" 'You get an imaginary gold star for pointing out the obvious.' "

A good variety of contemporary tales with at least one steamy scene per novella. I'll definitely check out the author's other stuff.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
The first story was not my favorite. The dialogue seemed awkward, and as someone who has lived in North Carolina for 22 years, the attempt at "southern speak" fell flat. However, I did enjoy the characters and their overall story. The second story was my favorite. Time hopping, when done right, adds an extra layer to a story and characters, and it was done right here! The third story was also wonderful! I would enjoy a full length novel about
I received the first story story 'Bo's Story' as a free gift from the author. It was really sweet, yet snarly, in just the right places. Especially when she took us back to two little boys at a day care center. One character was totally oblivious to the clumsy advances of the other. Who knew what a little chili could do to spice up a romance! I'll definitely be reading other selections by this author, since every other one has been just as good! A wonderful light hearted read with just a little ...more

Lissa Ford is a sucker for hot guys and a happy ending. Thus writing m/m romances is her idea of a perfect day. A transplanted California girl in snowy upstate New York, Lissa spends way too much time online and trying to keep her cat from destroying the furniture.
