In my own personal opinion, it'd take a lot more than this to motivate me to read, or if I were already a reader, to find the original books about the Littles. The lesson here is too obvious, the plot unconvincing.

The girls only requested it once. The main draw to it for PB is that it was a chapter book, but it didn't catch her attention enough to request it again.

Kiddo loved this one. It took a little longer for him to read, we read it in chunks. I'd call this a level 3 book.
