Three couples on a hiking vacation decide to go off the beaten path. Bad choice. It doesn't take long for things to get totally whacked. Vampires, zombies, sentient swamps, magical swords, ogres, and more! Wonderful fight scenes, plenty of surprises, good guys, bad guys, scary, funny. What a ride!
So why just 3 stars? Unfortunately, the reader never learns enough about the characters to care about them. That made it hard for me to care about who survived and who didn't. I also found the scene switching too frenetic. I didn't get to savor one scene enough before I was flipped to another.
Bonus! One of the best creep out scenes I've ever read.
