This was my first book by Miller and I have to say, it was a true Amish romance and one that I would recommend to Amish fiction fans.

Miller does a good job of keeping the story clean and getting the points across without being nasty. Miller uses this story as a good base for faith and love and god is thru out the pages with out being overly preachy.

It was slow but it picked up and being an avid Amish fiction reader the occasional Amish word (Dutch) did not mess me up. There is a glossary in the

Leah misses her mother. She died ten years ago, but she still hurts. She has her father and her siblings so her life is full. However, life is changing and she worries that she'll be alone. A Mother For Leah is a story about family and their importance in your life. This story showed that a person needs to do what they know in their heart is right and that family should support them in their journey. It made me realize that we never know when our heartbreak will be healed. I liked the characters ...more

What an emotional story the author brings to readers in this new series called, Windy Gap Wishes. I couldn't help but fall in love with the characters as they came alive as the author brought charm and warmth to each one. Leah was such a great character and I felt a connection to her instantly. She is going through a tough time dealing with the loss of her mother even though it has been ten years. Leah has grown into a sweet and caring young woman. The house is filled with love as her siblings p ...more

"A Mother for Leah," as the title suggests, is partly about about how Amish teenager Leah reacts to her father, Samuel, finally wanting to remarry 10 years after Leah's mother passed away, which she was just 7 or so. She and her two younger siblings have fewer memories of their mother than the eight older ones, and the story shifts point of view quite a bit between Samuel, who worries about Leah not having had a mother's guidance and needing it now that she's old enough to be courted by boys, an ...more

I Know The Plans I Have For You.

Wow!! Rachel L Miller your story has captured me from page one. I admit that you are a new to me author. I was invited to join your Facebook group and I figured that it would help me if I bought your ebook and read it. So here I am at the end of book one and feeling as though God has blessed me through this book.

Having grown up in a small rural town in Central Pennsylvania we have had Amish living all around us. I love reading books about the Amish including their lifestyles and habits. A Mother For Leah was beautifully written. This is a very heartwarming book that deals with losing a loved one and how the family must continue. As I read the book I could see the families as the author did a great job of describing the characters. I loved how she incorporated their language into the book as well. If you ...more

A Mother for Leah by Rachel L. Miller is the first story in a Windy Gap Wishes series. Leah Fisher lost her mother when she was seven years old. Her father, Samuel is worried about Leah as she approaches adulthood (ten years have passed by). She stays close to home and does not attend other young people events. Samuel has decided it is time he found a new wife (frau) who will help guide Leah into womanhood. Samuel leaves the house one morning leaving Leah at home. He is traveling to a nearby tow ...more

I was super excited to partake in this blog tour and read this new Amish novel by a new to me author. It sounded like an intriguing read. However, upon receiving it and reading it, I found it to be a little slack in the gripping department. It was a bit of a slow start and took me a few tries to get into the book. But, that said, once I did get past the first several chapters, I was pleased to be able to enjoy the story line and make friends with the characters!

I have always had a love for all things Amish, so I was thrilled when I was offered a chance to review this book. A Mother For Leah is a beautifully written, heartwarming story , about love, loss and trusting your faith in God.
From the first page Ms. Miller does an amazing job of depicting the Amish lifestyle even including their vernacular throughout the book (she includes a glossary of terms at the beginning, so can look up each word)

I was hooked from the first page…

I could easily picture a little girl, standing on her porch, then rushing through the pouring rain to the waiting buggy… I’ve lost both parents and both sisters and I’m the last family member, so I’m sure you’ll understand when I cried buckets at the funeral. The rain falling on the big, black umbrella seemed totally appropriate.

Ten years pass and Samuel Fisher has remained single, albeit a difficult thing to do in his Amish community. Even after ten years, Leah

A Mother For Leah by Rachel L Miller is a coming of age for Leah, an Amish girl who has lost her Mother when she was young. It is also a story of her Dad finally being able to ask God to help him find a new wife and being able to love again.

I like this book because it is a  heart warming story of family, love, community, and faith.  Moving on after a loss is never easy but with faith and love you can and this book shows how trusting God makes it possible.

A Mother for Leah is book one in the Windy Gap Wishes Series by Rachel L. Miller. This is the first book that I have read by Rachel it surely won’t be my last. This is such a wonderful story. Will Leah be able to let go of the past and accept what the future holds? I know. A story that will tug at the heartstrings. I fell in love with these characters and their story. A Mother for Leah is a heartwarming story of a young girl who needs to grow and move on from her mother's death. She is of courting age during the story (with the exception of the prologue), which some may misunderstand by the story's title. However, we all need mothers no matter what age we are, or what stage of life we are in. Leah needed someone to guide her, and help her come out of her shell, as well as someone who could set a Godly example in her life as an Amish woman.

I did feel Samuel an

A Mother for Leah is the first book in the Windy Gap Wishes series by Rachel L. Miller. I have always thought the Amish life is fascinating to read about and see, so I was looking forward to this book. The book is about young love, and new love. About Leah’s family’s faith. While I thought, the story was good, it was hard for me to read. I originally liked the Amish dialect that were in the book, but then it got to be too much. The Author is showing a simpler way of life of the Amish people and that though God anything is possible.
A family must continue after a tragedy struck them and with the love of God and each other they will.
This is my first book by this Author and I throughly enjoyed it and can't wait for more in the series.
I received this book for my honest opinion and review.

I received this book as a preview copy to be reviewed.

The book was well written and the story good. A solid religious love story. Tho this is not one of my usual genre, it was enjoyable. I did have a problem with the insertion of the plain folk language. I knew what a lot of them meant already, but just inserted a word that made sense if I didn't. Reading on e-book format, it was not convenient to use the guide at the beginning of the book. All in all, this was my only fault with the book.

The Amish lead a simple life. Led by their strong beliefs in God, their work ethic and the way they actually live their lives is a testament to their faith. Leah is Amish. A middle child of eleven, she lost her mother at a young age to cancer. Her father, Samuel, didn’t rush into remarrying, so when, ten years later, he finds and rescues a young widow he’s never before met, things start to take a different turn. This man of strong faith, who really believed that he could never love another woman ...more

A Mother For Leah is the first book written by Rachel L. Miller in her Windy Gap Wishes series. This is tHe first book I have read by this author and I am impressed with her writiNg style. The characters that the author has placed in this story are described so well you can actually see them appearing right in front of you. The same can be said for her scenic descriptions. Reviewed at The Power of Words:

A Mother for Leah is a well-written traditional Amish story and I enjoyed it very much. Rachel L. Miller is an excellent writer and has crafted an entertaining story about a family coping with change after the loss of the mother, and their emotional struggles are the same as any of us would face. Faith is at the core of the story – a belief in God’s plan and God’s timing.

Leah, one of several children in the Fisher family, is an appealing char

My first book by Rachel Miller and certainly won't be my last!
I thought Rachel wrote an engrossing story that moved my ♥ in more ways than one.
I certainly can connect with Leah in most regards especially emotionally.
Leah took most things in stride the way I generally do until someone or something changes in her lifestyle.
Too often we get settled in our daily lives and most of us don't like change even if they're for the good!
I also enjoyed reading this 📖 because Rachel kept it fast paced and

Author Rachel Miller does a great job of helping you to visualize the characters. You truly feel like you are right there in Windy Gap, watching Leah and Samuel heal and grow.

A sweet tale of love, faith, and trusting God, this is a heartwarming story of moving on after loss. We get a glimpse of the importance of family in the Amish life style as the story progresses. I look forward to visiting Windy Gap again whe

This is one that I thoroughly enjoyed. The author has written a story with wonderful characters and a beautiful story line. Leah's story is a combination of family devotion, faith and romance. that pulled me in from first pages. The author's writing made me feel as if I were part of the community. It is also a inspiring story showing how God works in the lives of his children and bring blessings above what we could imagine. A Mother for Leah is everything you like about Amish fiction. Faith, community, and sweet romance. There were a couple of romances going on and they were oh, so sweet. The community atmosphere made me want to take a vacation to Amish country. However, the slow pace of Amish life is not without its problems. Leah lost her mother at a young age and is slowly entering adulthood without the aid of a mother.

A Mother for Leah is a delightful read for young teens and fans of Amish fiction. The fictional setting of Windy Gap and the Amish community will bring some unexpected surprises during a snowstorm. This story centers around the Fisher family especially Leah and their struggles since losing their mamm/frau. Samuel had never considered marrying another until he met Naomi Yoder, but maybe the surprised knocker at the Fisher’s door will bring hope and an opportunity for more than a mother for Leah. ...more

I enjoyed reading "A Mother for Leah" by Rachel L. Miller. At one point, I wondered if there was another book in the series based on a mention of the story behind David and Catherine falling in love, but this seems to be the first book in the series. The book follows several characters: Leah Fisher, Samuel Fisher, Naomi Yoder, Rebekah Yoder, and Jacob (we never do learn what his last name is). To begin the reading is a bit slow, but picks up throughout the novel. A buggy accident brings a stranger to Leah Fisher's and changes to her life that she didn't expect since her Mom had passed away more than 10 years ago. This is a good Amish story although it seemed a bit too long to me, but I was reading on a Kindle which is not my habit. The story did drag a bit and a few things were too easily explained away instead of letting the conflict build the plot even more. And I do have to agree with others that say that "in God's will or "Gotte's will was overly use ...more

Rachel L Miller writes sweet Amish romance with a focus on faith, family and friendship.

She feels very strongly that God has led her to live a simpler lifestyle – thus her deep kinship with the plain people. She enjoys spending time with her family and doing fun, simple things like swimming, making sun tea, sitting outside watching the sunrise or listening to rain fall on the tin roof.
