Rate this book
It's never too early to expose your children to the many wonders of nature. EARLY BIRDS™ , our new board book series, begins with My Colors and My Numbers , two core concepts. My Colors pairs each of ten colors with a beautiful bird and a second element found in nature for reinforcement. Numbers does the same, but with different birds doing the things they do in their natural habitats. Special features that differentiate EARLY BIRDS from other board book series 1) Repetitive triplets and word tools on each spread to describe what each bird does or sounds like, enhancing learning; 2) Back matter with streaming HD bird sounds that gives parents and children a real multi-media experience using BIRD QR, our free downloadable app; 3) Special page tabs for little hands.

both of my girls really liked this book. they love talking about birds and colors so it's perfect. i also loved that it was simple enough for my three year old Norah to "read" to Hazel later by themselves.

Benji loved this one so much! Kudos to the Cornell Ornithology Lab for creating such a wonderful introduction to colors and birds for the littlest of readers! Each double page introduces a color, with a bird of that color, as well as some other feature of that color (the grass, the sky, a flower, etc.) Plus, you can download an app to your phone and scan the QR codes on the last page to hear what each of the birds sounds like!

This book is bright, easy to navigate, and full of information that can grow with the child. You can just read the color to the child if they're having trouble focusing (or just have a short attention span), or you can read the top portion of the page, or the full page. Each portion stands well on its own. If you read the full page, the child recognizes colors, types of birds, and even the sounds some birds make.

This book has become a several times a day read for my 2 yr old daughter. She loves to tell me the colors and has started recognizing the names of more of the birds as we continue to reread it. Her favorite part of the book though is the ability to use the QR codes and hear what the birds really sound like!

I was only going to give this book 3 stars because it seems rather advanced for its intended audience. However, the QR codes in the back earned it another star. The QR codes make a great tool for learning.

Really great book that introduces colors and birds. You can also use the QR app to listen to bird songs and calls--we didn't do that, but I love that the option is there. Beautiful book!
