This is a quick read, a fairly small book with a narrow focus. It tells the short but truly amazing history of the Clipper Ship, some of the most beautiful and swiftest ships ever to sail. Even today the modern regatta ships racing cannot equal the speed of these wonders.
While sometimes repetative and a bit breathless about topics only true sailors will appreciate, this is a fascinating story of a little-known part of American history, when the USA became the greatest ship builders on the planet and raced around the world on amazing ships setting speed records still unbroken.
A great book for history and sailing fans, and it makes me long for a series of novels written about the time period.
