Taste of Home publishes magazines and magazine-type cookbooks that consist mainly of recipes sent in by readers. The majority of the recipes are contributed by women living in small towns. They usually include a few sentences about where the recipe came from, or how the contributor developed it, or how it is received when she makes it. The food is very un-fancy and often uses convenience ingredients like catsup, jello or frozen whipped topping. There is also a section of "My Mom's Best Meal" where the contributors supply recipes for a whole meal and tell something about their memories of eating in their families. I like to read about more involved cooking but I also like to read these very homey, unpretentious recipes.
