This is a good book of basic techniques; it's not a "how to sew" book, but rather a book to help you with tips and tricks. Looks like it may have been published with the classroom in mind, since the last section of the book is titled, "Careers That Build on Sewing Skills" and lists many jobs and their skills like Editor, Buyer, Salesperson, etc...
