She's conducted seminars and written articles about editing, writing, promotions and journalism. She wrote the popular "how-to" book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Getting Your Romance Published. This comprehensive nonfiction title offers advice on everything from plotting and editing a novel to finding an agent and publisher.
Julie graduated from Northwestern University's prestigious Medill School of Journalism with a master of science degree in journalism. She graduated with a B.F.A. in theatre arts from Stephens College. She lives with her husband, two children and two incorrigible basenjis in the Midwest.

A medieval history romance. Ok. I was thinking it would be like Ellis Peters' Cadfael but with less religion and more courtship rituals.
This book is very well written (why it gets 2* instead of 1!). The author is highly talented and can write a page turner. However her choice of content was just disgusting to me. I couldn't bare the multiple rapes and disgusting behavior of the Knights. I do understand that many did behave that way but I don't need to read about it in my limited pleasure time. Sorry Ms Beard - I'll have to know another book by you is more light hearted and contain less sexual assaults to read it.

I'm glad Ranulf was killed..
he was pure evil, and I'm glad the book ended with beautiful love making and the discovery of the Darbereau treasure.
