She and her very supportive husband of 45 years (whom she agreed to marry on their first date!) enjoy a busy social life and have visited much of the world. After calling Texas home for three decades, they now live in beautiful NW Arkansas.
Arlene grew up on a ranch in south central Oklahoma and still maintains strong ties in that area. She firmly believes that writing has afforded her the best of all possible means of earning a living, and credits a junior high school English teacher with proving to her that her dream of being an author was entirely achievable.
After 4 decades of deadlines and multiple-book contracts (for which she is deeply grateful), she is enjoying the ability to write exactly what she feels led to write on her own schedule.

Last book of a series. Nice plot.

I really enjoyed how their growing relationship moves hero (Stark) and heroine (Meredith) from antagonistic to friendship to love and how it helps both come to terms with their need to move on after traumatic experiences. Arlene James writes about dealing with grief and its aftermath in a relatable way. I especially liked how she wove the faith element into the story in a way that's neither non-pollyanish nor pie-in-the-sky optimistic.

Wanting to read something relaxing and slow to finish out the Month. This book was ok, enemies to lovers, boss and employer romance it was okay I guess?
I Iiked how both them had their own unique issues and didn't try to fix each other but I felt they had a lot of misunderstandings instead of acting disliking each other!
Meredith was nicely written with her own past and losses. Stark story devastated me and his whole character I liked the way he was written I just wish that at end they would have actually had a confession of their love for each because I also felt like their was alot going on the background as well as this also being a interconnected standalone series it just felt there was some lose ends in their romance.
I wanted a confession and more conversation.
3.75 stars for me.

Her Cowboy Boss by Arlene James is The Prodigal Ranch series. Stark burns is a veterinarian who lost his wife and daughter in a car accident four years ago. He blames himself for the accident. He doesn't think he deserves happiness. Nurse Meredith Billings moves back home to care for her sick dad. She doesn't want to move back to the big city when he recovers because she was attached there. Meredith goes to work for Stark and changes his life for the better. A good read.
