This book is a collection of John Adams quotes throughout his life. John Adams was the second president of the United States and one of the founding fathers of the Declaration of Independence. He's best known as a political philosopher. Reading through his various quotes, I realized he's not Benjamin Franklin! I still think that Benjamin Franklin is one of the best characters you will ever read about from the same period. However, the book still has good thoughts about politics, morality, religion, and human nature.

With the caveat that there are some errors and unpardonable misquotes (page 233 as an example), I think it is a great compilation of a drastically underrated Founding Father, political theorist (read: not politician) and historian.

John Adams is by far my favorite Founding Father. I have found his life to be incredibly interesting and Adams to be a remarkable man. This book gives some history in to the life and times of Adams and gives many quotes taken from Adam’s speeches, letters and even gives some quotes on Adams himself from family and friends. I would have loved to have met this man and sat down and talked politics and philosophy with him. I guess this book of quotes and comments is the next best thing.
