When I read the blurb of Whispers in the Woods, my attention was caught. For the past month, I have reviewed romance/young adult or a combination of such and I was getting bored. So this book grabbed my attention. It was the combination of fantasy and modern-day that drew my attention to the book. Incredible is a mild term to describe this story. I had to look a couple of time to ensure I hadn't accidentally picked up one of my Lovecraftian or REH-esque omnibuses as I devoured the book. Ms. Ocborne knows how to craft a tale that could be swapped with any coming out of that noir period. Her characters, although a little pastiche, grew within the story and became characters you wanted to root for. This book was in the same vein as any Cthulhloid tale told in modern times.

Good Read

Dinah has changed. She is able to see things that should not be. A town called Firemountain has a paper that needs a journalist and Dinah maybe the perfect fit...that is if she doesn't die on her first day.
I enjoyed the story but had little biases concerning the mixing of the Cthulhu mythos with the theology of Christianity. Regardless of this I found the story enjoyable but the characters were not fleshed out enough for me to care what happened to them.

Fast paced paranormal mystery.
Strong characters and a well developed story line make this book a page turner.
A battle between dark forces, demons, cultists and protectors of the occult.
