From the mighty brachiosaurus to the fearsome tyrannosaurus, children will love discovering the biggest and most powerful dinosaurs that ever walked the Earth (and some of the smallest too). Open the huge fold-out pages to show some of the longest, heaviest and most terrifying dinosaurs with measurements and facts about when they lived.
Alex Frith has been a children's non-fiction author since 2005. Working exclusively for Usborne Publishing, he has written over 50 books covering almost any subject you can think of, from the origins of the Universe to the meaning behind world religions, from extinct animals to prototype AIs, and from Japanese legends to Norse mythology. Two of his books have been shortlisted for the Royal Society Young's People's Book Prize: See Inside Inventions (2012), and 100 Things to Know About Space (2017).
Alex grew up in a house surrounded by comics and graphic novels, and has a lifelong passion for the medium. Beyond the comics he photocopied and passed around the playground of his primary school, he wrote the 4-part series 'Digital Graffiti' with artist Gez Fry in 2003, and has had short story comics published in FutureQuake and the Asteroid Belter.
We got this for my 4-year-old for Christmas, and he LOVES it. At first he just enjoyed the flaps and looking at the pictures, but now he asks us to read it to him multiple times a day, and has memorized most of the dinosaur names (certainly more than I knew at that age!)
My son spent hours engaging with the book. The illustration are great and the information is just enough for a toddler to remember by hearts so he can tell a story by himself. Lots of tape holding the book now as I don't think any quality can stand the little hands that wont have enough of unfolding and folding back the pages.
These Usborne picture books are so good! Graphically beautiful, full of information, they cover subjects from astronomy to zoology. This dinosaur one is a favorite - who can resist a big tyrannosaurus rex? Not my kids!
I liked this book because it gave little blurbs on all the different dinosaurs. Instead of it being like a story its very factual and informational since theres many different captions.
We read this book to my son every night, it is his absolute favorite. We've been reading it to him from 2 months old up to now, at 4 months, and he gets more excited for this book than for any other book. The little blurbs of information are quite short and perfect for learning, or for just reading off quickly. The pictures are extremely vivid, so much so that he does his best to grab them right off the page. The book folds open in various ways to accommodate the lengthy list of dinosaurs, but the pages are made of heavy duty cardboard stock. I'm not at all worried about wear and tear on this book; it's made to last. One of the best kids books I've ever seen.
This book is very helpful when describing dinosaurs. It shows different dinosaurs for every page. It gives their length along with what they ate. I would have this book in my classroom for students to look at and read. It would be a great resource for a research project.
