From the moment we met Drake Carpenter as the new boy in school in Spell Bound, he has been an enigma. When he becomes the object of Mason Blackmoor’s affection and spellbound to his warlock, he became exceptional. When we discover is immunity to magic and how it aids the protector covens of The Gate, he became essential. Now, we learn the true identity of Drake Carpenter and it’s… well, sort of… erroneous.

It was a really nice surprise to find out this fourth installment of the magically fascinating series around ‘The Warlock Brothers of Havenbridge’ is told from Drake’s point of view. Drake is human, for some unknown reason immune to all magic except Mason’s, and he is Mason’s boyfriend. As a relative outsider who has been pulled into a magical world full of dangers and evil beings, Drake’s perspective made everything even more exciting for me. As it turns out, his role in the battle for supremac ...more

Boy, that was one explosive episode in the ever continuing saga of the Warlock Brothers of Havenbridge!

I loved revisiting Mason and Drake. They're just as perfect as in book 1. Drake's story however, took us to a brand new location, away from Blackmoor Manor, and into the heart of the witch hunter's operational base. The revelations and secrets that journey revealed were astounding, shocking and monumental to the further plots of this series. Bu

Drake Carpenter loves his boyfriend Mason Blackmoor. They’re in high school and have to study for tests and go to class in spite of the fact they’re part of a family trying to save the world from nefarious magic users. Though they’re not currently in immediate danger, there are still significant threats. There’s a new guy in school. Drake can remember being the new guy and in spite of Mason’s jealousy Drake does his best to befriend him. Dra

Spell Fall by Jacob Z. Flores

Fantasy fiction has the intrinsic burden of introducing and expanding the readers’ world to include the extraordinary. It is important that a creative guided tour into other realms is needful to piercing our reality bubbles. A good storytelling can do the important work of changing preconceptions.

This was my first young adult gay fantasy read. I struggled in the beginning but the lunchroom segment and the introduction of the character Will Hopkins capture

As the protector covens gear up to fight the latest threat to the Gate, the Blackmoors are receiving the silent treatment from the Conclave. In a bid to find answers they devise a strategy that completely backfires.

Meanwhile Drake is having nightmares where the villain is none other than Mason. As Drake works to find out the meaning behind his dreams, he is confronted with an age old truth about himself, his family and t

I'm not sure how I feel about this one and the set up for the next book. I always thought Thad and his face boyfriend was the weakest pairing and the next book is probably all them.

This wasn't a bad book. I just feel like this is really dragging out the villains and their plans.

This book would confuse the heck out of you if you didn't read the series in order, so make sure you read the others first.

Loved this series as much the 2nd time as the 1st time (a 4th and 5th book came out so I needed to re-read the whole series -- yum!). I thought there would be more angst between the brothers but they actually love each other very much and that made me appreciate the books even more.

Very unique story lines in each of the books with sexy and engaging characters.

4.5 Stars ~ I was super excited when I saw the next installment to this amazing series was out, and couldn’t wait to see what new foes and dangers the Blackmoor family will face. This addition did not disappoint.

The series began in book one when Mason and Drake meet, and here, in book four, once their bond has grown after facing dangerous situation after dangerous situation alongside Mason’s family, we are back to where it began—only this time we get to read from Drake’s point of view. If you ha

It open up a lot of new questions. It would have been a five star read but the two young men almost had a terminal case of tstl. It took away from my enjoyment.

Spell Fall is the fourth book in Jacob Z. Flores’ The Warlock Brothers of Havenbridge series. It is essential that these books be read in order because each story is a continuation of the drama before. We first met Drake in book one of the series, Spell Bound, and he has played an important role in each novel since then. The difference with Spell Fall is that Drake is the first person narrator – and a human – when previously the Blackmoor brothers, Mason, Thad, and

First, this is a book in a series you must read in order to appreciate. I doubt this would make that much sense if read as a stand-alone.

Second, all the brothers are now mated and their powers are increasing but we’ve yet to actually solve any of the main “issues”. The temporary hurdles were handled earlier, but the main problem – revolving around the main attack on Drake Aunt and why is yet to be solved. Ica – who we learn is actually named Icarius seems to have a lot of power but is seeking mo

I like Jacob Flores' writing and I like the characters and story but it just keeps going on and on. No book in the series ends in a cliffhanger but neither do they end with a completed story. This is a series and must be read in order.

I have read and reviewed every book in this series. Book One Spell Bound, Jacob Flores began with Mason Blackmore and his family who were Warlocks. They were one of the three magical families in the town of Havenbridge. They were one of the keepers of The Gate. The Proctor family was the keeper representing Witches and the Stonewall

The Blackmoor men have all been through so much in their mutual quests for peace among the covens, and individually they all just long to find love. With each brother finally paired up with their destined mates, the youngest brother, Mason, and his boyfriend Drake are put to the test once again. Their past is about to collide with their future, and if they aren't careful, it could destroy not only their family, but the entire magical community.

Flores writing just gets better with each installme

Aargh! I have been in love with this series since the first book. I have devoured each one in short order and loved everything about them. After Soul Struck, I was dying for the next book, so I went to the author's website to find the next book release. There I found something both exciting and horrifying. There will be at least four more books! Yay, because I love them, but aargh!, because I have to wait for them to be released.

Now that I'm done with my fan girl rant, on to the review! I loved

I liked this story. I am pretty sure, if I was a teenager I would have loved this. I will admit, I really don’t like vampires, but I let that go to read this. I thought he’d be fighting vampires, not that they were part of the main cast. But it didn’t affect my enjoyment.
I liked the pace, and the language used throughout. I like that the thoughts and dialogue were in line with what a young person would use. I liked Drake and Mason. And wow, they’re 18, living with Mason’s dad and their relation

Wow! It turns out that Drake's immunity to magic, and his soul bonding to Mason aren't just random occurrences. I love that the Blackmoors are told over and over again that they have no choice but to give up on their family and love, but they always choose each other and show the world that they are stronger together than apart.

Jacob Z. Flores lives a double life. During the day, he is a respected college English professor and mid-level administrator. At night and during his summer vacation, he loosens the tie and tosses aside the trendy sports coat to write man on man fiction, where the hard ass assessor of freshmen level composition turns his attention to the firm posteriors and other rigid appendages of the characters ...more
