Kiesha Morgan is a plus-sized, bi-racial business woman who lives life on her own terms. Her life is all about control...her control. She owns her own business, her own condo, and conducts her relationships the same way she runs her business--by her rules. Any man that doesn't like it is welcome to leave.

Alex Wolfe is the town of Refuge's only veterinarian. He's also a shape-shifter, and the Alpha of the Raven Pack. He's been waiting for the woman who can complete him, his one True Mate. Even though the odds of finding her are slim, he refuses to settle for second best. Once he finds her, he'll never let her go.

Their worlds collide when Kiesha is snatched out of her nice, safe world and mysteriously teleported to a clearing in the woods outside of Refuge. She's out of her element and things are out of her control.

Life just got a little bit more interesting...

So ... this was mostly porn. More than halfway through the book the porn settles down and you get some sort of a plot. I like the idea of soulmates but this came nowhere near to be satisfying in that regard. Literally, this book was sex and a hint at a plot. No time for conflict, apparently. Normally I don't LIKE conflict. Normally I'm yelling at the characters to get over themselves and just give in to loving the other character. This time I was like, REALLY? You're just going to accept this with no question? I actually wanted the woman to run away from the guy. Not because he was a bad guy but because it was too damn ridiculous not to.

Moral of the story: When a Nookbook is 3.99, there's a reason for it.

There is a fine line between an alpha and an asshole and this guy is the latter. He's not trying to be, but he keeps neglecting to tell the girl things that are vitally important (among other douche moves) and she's just cool with it.

It could have been a lot better if the female lead was a stronger character, but she was weak and annoying. Boo

Description: A bi-racial woman who works too hard and plays too little is unexpectedly transported to a meadow, where she is literally left hanging for her true mate werewolf. He finds her — oh, does he find her. But will her need for control kill their newfound relationship?

The Good: Well, the sex comes fast and hot. But at the same time I completely believed that these two passionate people would hook up from the jump off. Ms. Wynn does a great job setting up the story in that regard. And it’s a great situation, in that they have sex first things first, then spend the rest of the story getting to know each other. The heroine is big-boned, and I really liked the gentle-but-alpha hero.

The Bad: The story falls into the same trap that many “fated” love stories fall into. It’s hard to believe that their relationship is ever really under threat, and so the story as a whole lacks conflict. It’s kind of like watching a newly domestic couple, who you know will definitely be getting married, setting up house and having lots of fantastic sex, and talking their way through any emotional landmines that come up. It’s not boring, but it’s not a page turner either. The set-up of the next book in the series (NIKOLAI’S WOLF), which involves a forbidden vampire-werewolf pairing is also problematic. On one hand it’s very intriguing, in that the next story will certainly have plenty of conflict, a big bad, and both emotional and tangible obstacles for the couple to surmount. On the other it takes up a considerable chunk of this story, which is supposed to be about another couple all together. More focus on the main couple, with a smaller set up for the next book would have been preferable. Also, for whatever reason this isn’t available as an ebook on Amazon, just iBooks and other sites.

The Naughty: Erotic. Lots of sex. Dubious consent.

Editing issues: Minor typos

Publisher: Loose Id

Length: 138 pages

Final Grade: B-

So I'm almost done with this book. Here is my opinion:

If you're looking for porn aka erotica, then this is for you. Don't get me wrong, I love reading sex scenes in books. I mean jesus, it's why I read romance books. Add that with paranormal and you've got me sold. Yet, despite reading a bunch of reviews on this, I had high hopes it would have maybe a little bit of a plot or storyline going on. It doesn't. You pretty much start off with her tied up in the woods and it just goes immediately into several sex scenes. They are pretty well written, and are very descriptive which I liked if we're being honest. However, in all honesty there is no plot to this story. Just a little erotica. Very quick read.

I will definitely keep it on my shelf, every now and then it's beneficial to just read some sex, but it won't make it even close to my favorites list. Or must reads list. Or any list other than "I need to read some sex".

The first book in the 'True Mates' series was good. There wasn't anything too special about it unless you count the author and how she always mixes up the races. Usually black and white being together in a book. I'm not usually into books with mixed races, I tend to stick to the 'white' books. Don't worry, I'm not racist, I hate everyone equally. However we all have our own preferences. The storyline in this one was a bit unreal. Like hello, the heroine just 'happened' to wake up in the woods, tied to a tree and in the mountains. When she only fell asleep a little while ago, back in Florida. Well Florida doesn't have any mountains and vampires teleporting and crap. It's just a little TOO far fetch but still enjoyable!

It has been a little while since I read this book but here is what I recall...

I love the series!! Yummy romance involving shifters. Plenty of steamy action and a touch of humor!

Definitely a series to get into! I started it and didn't stop until I reached the last book that was released! I am always looking for the next book!

If you like steamy shifter romances this is a series to look into!!!!

4 stars. This book was interesting, even though it felt like I was in a History class when the moment the teacher decides to talk about the Myths of Werewolves and Vampires. Now it doesn't mean that I didn't like it, it meant that it was more like the french says "Como Si, Como Sa". The characters hmm, the plot, hmm. Yeah that much says it all.

meh!
not the best writing, I couldn't relate to the characters since they didn't make sense most of the time, like Kiesha being ok with a stranger pretty much raping her while she was unconscious... and after that, all the senseless sex just made it worse.

This is the first, but also the weakest, in the True Mates series. It basically sets up the characters and world builds. I recommend you keep reading because it does get better.

Let me start by saying I was EXTREMELY excited to see some color in one of these novels!!!! 😘😁😁😚😍The plot/storyline was decent but the smut needed a little more detail. If you can spend 5mins explaining how the grease in nuggets was too much because it was cold, and they didn’t cook properly as a result. 🤔🤔🙄🙄🙄You can certainly spend 5mins talking about her clit being licked and played with til she reached orgasm. it was kind of like the author couldn’t get into the moment with the characters; it was almost like she was rushing through the smut. She kept turning the ignition on and then right back off again..🙄🙄🫣

Back to the story, I love that she kept things real!

If you were an artist and you lost your eyesight you would be upset! Now I can’t say everyone would turn to booze n weed, but you’d certainly be upset. I love that he never lied to her during the rebuilding of her life!😃😁👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Narration: was okay, the female lead voice was high pitched so if you don’t like that you might want to avoid but I’ve heard worse so….The male was so alpha, so sexy, I just needed the author to finish me so to speak! 😂😂😂

Keisha wakes up in the woods, hanging from a tree. Last thing she remembered is talking with her friend Connor. Exasperated and frightened by this turn of events, she's even more shocked when three wolves enter the clearing.
Thus is the beginning of this tale. Keisha is a woman used to being in control, but she finds herself in a situation where she has little control. Alex is the alpha of the River pack, happy to have his mate delivered to him. Alex establishes what he is looking for right away, and endeavors to have Keisha meet him in the middle in forming their lives together.
This is a fast paced story. I found the characters fun, and they developed the more I read. The romance in this story is a little on the insta love track, but I find a lot of shifter romances run that way. As this is a series, some elements in the book read like a happy for now, but not the main characters.
If you enjoy happily ever afters with a little hiccup in the journey there, grab a copy, some wine, and your favorite pint of Ben and Jerry's. Enjoy.

I like paranormal romances that include shifters but this one almost crossed the line.

Keisha, the main female character, was interesting. She questioned everything the first few days but decided to live a little near the end of the week. She was an alpha female in her own rights. She was independent and head strong. Those characteristics complimented her alpha male counterpart. Alex, the male alpha, was very attentive to Keisha. The characters were developed and stated consistent.
The ending could have been better. I feel like the author rushed the ending. It was like very thing was going well and then she just ended it.

There were some errors throughout the book. It didn't take away from the story but if fixed it would make the story stronger.

I would recommend this book to my friends that like paranormal books to see if they agreed to with me.

A little conflicted..😏

Yes and no for this tale. It's the first one of this series I read but not the 1st in the series. The parts I didn't like we're the "romance" aka raunchy sex scenes.
Had to skip over them..even the sex talk was a complete and utter turn off for me..ugh!😒 But everything else was very interesting and entertaining. The whole lore of their shifter society..the hierarchy..the consequences of the mating process esp with humans etc..definitely got and held my attention. I will purchase more just to see how all of that drama is resolved and questions answered. I didn't feel any romance per 'se but I don't care because everything else was just great.😉

This story isn’t for me, but may be for you. I feel like there is too much lack of consent. The vampire was controlling her mind it seemed through most of the story whenever they were around one another. Him touching her mentally in her sleep without her knowledge, making her sleep or do other things. Hell he mates her before she even knew who he was. It just felt so wrong on so many levels. There was no free will. Some people may enjoy this, but I’m just not one of those.

The positive that I can see is that the author does display that he truly cares for her and believes they are mates. I think he believes he is doing the right thing due to their differences.

Quite disappointed with this one. The whole thing was not realistic at all, even for a supernatural book. Like how did she ended in that forest was never explained. Also her relationship with the guy who organized the whole thing. And then there was the very problematic way her supposed true mate but total stranger had sex with her while she was UNCONSCIOUS, which is nothing hot and sexy but rapey. Yes, it falls under the definition of sexual assault/rape. After that I side-eyed the hell of that relationship especially how she accepted the whole situation within 24 hours and uprooted her whole life. Very disappointing writing.

Alex and Keisha

This is a great book about seeing and loving the differences in people, whether it’s race or lifestyle. This happens to be shifters and non-shifters. Keisha had talked with Conor in-depth about werewolves…why was she so curious and how did Conor know that she was Alex’s true mate? loved Keisha’s attitude and when she finally realized that she loved Alex, her true mate.

I did not like this book. The characters reacted strangely and I think the h took things or situations way over the top. It started out not so bad but the more I read the more I disliked the book. Some things seemed to happen out of nowhere and I had to go back to make sure I hadn't missed something. :(

I've previously read 3 other books from this series before reading this one. With those there were always external conflicts to work through and help the book progress. This one didn't have it, and that didn't work for me. It caused a slower pace and a lot of skimming towards the end. It was really boring waiting for Keisha to "fully accept" Alex as her mate.

I just really don't like the concept of soul mates, it's really trite. and I don't like the fact she was kidnapped and then some random guy slept with her and she never considered going back to her life?? Well written though

Zena Wynn/True Mates

Steamy Hot Page Turner!

Alex Wolfe is a werewolf, the alpha of his pack. He wants to wait for his true love, his soul mate. His friend, Conor has the uncanny way of sniffing out one’s true mate and he does so for Alex, leaving her tied to the tree in the forest.

Keisha Morgan, a woman who is used to being in control isn’t exactly sure how she likes being told she is Alex’s woman. She thinks Alex is one gorgeous man who knows how to make her feel all so much like a woman, but is that enough for her to bind herself to him forever?

I read this story in one sitting. It was fast paced and the story gripped me from the first page.

Ms. Wynn pens a tale of two people who understand what it means to be in love. The sex is off the scale hot, but she forges a relationship of commitment, honesty, understanding, and friendship—all which make a relationship last for a lifetime. I loved her secondary characters as well: Carol and Mark and their friendship to make the transition for Keisha easier. I also like the back story of the rival packs and their different sets of laws. I found the vampire, Nikolai and Shannon, a werewolf's attraction intriguing. Perhaps there is another story in the works by Ms. Wynn. The ending leads you to believe there will be. I look forward to reading about their adventure. Well done!

So funny things.. I often don't read book blurbs.. or if I do, it's weeks or months after putting it on my Nook (where you can't read the book blurb), so it is totally a surprise what I end up reading at times. (Especially when you've got over 400 books chilling on your Nook waiting to be read).

Which means it wasn't for 79 pages out of like 104 that I realized Keisha was biracial. It wasn't that I imagined her as white.. I just... didn't imagine her as anything other than there was a comment about her having Native American somewhere in her past due to her cheekbones (suspicion made by Alex). But apparently this author is slight famous for her interracial love stories. Which is cool by me. Keisha just took me by surprise (yes, I know white girls with that name), and made me laugh out loud when I realized that 'ohhhh... okay. that's cool' (yes, I had to go read the synopsis to be sure)

Alex, I liked. He wasn't an arrogant D-Bag like some other reviewers are making him out to be. He wasn't Uber Alpha male either. He was very.... human. He wanted to please his mate. He left out one bit of info, but that was just to not freak her out. (the other important bit of info was left out by EVERYONE because they just didn't think about it. They weren't holding it back from her)

Keisha wasn't a weak character really. So I didn't mind her.

I think I will gladly continue reading the series.
