Wet by Ashley Bostock a fab four star read. This is the first book in the Love in Lone Star series, it’s also the first book by this author I have read, and it won’t be the last. The author has a way with words that made me feel as if I was reliving my misspent youth, it also had a great way of showing how much we grow up without even realising. I went back and forth on this book, I quite honestly put this book down a few times thinking if I just took a break and came back with fresh eyes I'd get into it.
Not the case, as much as I loved the blurb I was sure I was going to fall in love and fly right through this book, sadly the blurb was the best part for me.
I've put off actually writing this review, giving myself a chance to digest what I read and even going back to pick at a few areas thinking I missed something that made this better t I went back and forth on this book, I quite honestly put this book down a few times thinking if I just took a break and came back with fresh eyes I'd get into it.

I've put off actually writing this review, giving myself a chance to digest what I read and even going back to pick at a few areas thinking I missed something that made this better than I rated it.
First of all is Ryan, while he appears the all mighty Alpha ladies all over town adore, doing the right thing raising his siblings but in truth he's anything but. Big, sexy and bossy he may be but he's more sissy than alpha. I was disappointed in him so many times. His seemingly noble priorities weren't all it was cracked up to be either.
Miranda. I get the whole nobody believes in me, nobody wants me I'll just sleep with him an cross my fingers that he can still stand to look me in the eye the next time we cross paths, but for a woman who was at a glance strong due to the adversity she faced in that town but still stayed and forged on, she was anything but when it came to Ryan.
She's willing to basically pry one night of sex out of this man in exchange for something he wants. It's more modern day prostitution than sexy.
An the fact that he couldn't be seen with her, couldn't let anyone know they had spent a night together and would hide and basically ignore her in front of any and everyone, just no. I wanted to pull my hair out, I'm not sure if I wanted to slap Miranda or punch Ryan more. Maybe if I just smacked their skulls together a few times I would have felt better.
I'm not usually so critical and I feel horrible writing this but this book just didn't do it on any level for me.
A woman who's past won't leave her alone in a tiny town full of stuck on themselves jackasses, who doesn't believe in herself enough to be with a man who respects her, I just could not stand it.
I finished the book though I truly didn't think I could and I debated what rating to give it, I'm still not sure I should give it three but it is what it is, this is where I'll leave it. ...more

Even though I’ve successfully avoided her for two months, I haven’t forgotten how she tastes or what she feels like in my arms. And when I get sent a mysterious letter from some company wanting to buy my thousand shares of water rights that have been in my family for over a hundred years, I’m convinced that there is no one…err, better equipped, to help me than Lone Star’s reporter, Miranda Phillips.

I know how desperately she wants me and this letter gives me all the reason I need to spend one night with the girl from the wrong side of town. One night in exchange for her tight investigative skills. And believe me, she’s tight, in more ways than one. One night. Because Miranda is trouble and being on the city council, as well as guardian to my younger brother and sister, means I can’t afford trouble.

Even if it comes packaged just the way I like.

OMG this book and not in a good way people!!! Okay, so I like to think I can't be shocked...well that's not true anymore book peeps!!! THIS book shocked me. It wasn't that it didn't have a good synopsis or that it wouldn't have been a good read if it didn't have so much sex. I know what you're thinking - What? That's a good thing! But I have to tell you that it made my eyes and ears cry. If your having sex 2 cabins down from your 13 or so age siblings (meaning you kicked them out of the cabin to have sex) you have a problem. If your sexy talk is "oh you're so wet, blah, blah, blah" over and over the same thing...you've got a problem or you need to seek medical attention immediately! I'm not a prude but this bordered on x-rated and should come with some kind of warning. If your Alpha treats you like a ho, you need to bail...like you're in jail! No lie, I felt like this dude needed to take some etiquette lessons. I read some other reviews saying to trudge through it's worth it - I sadly did not find this the case. I have not found 2 characters that I found so dislikable in...well ever. That's saying a lot. I will say that it was well written and there were no grammar issues I could find with the ARC version. It just took me forever to actually read this book because I was too busy putting it down to read others and a really good book doesn't let you do that. It grips you and doesn't let go...this book sadly didn't do that.

Wet: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book 1) by Ashley Bostock is the first book in her Love in Lone Star series. This story is about the good boy and bad girl relationship. I am use to the the good girl and bad boy stories but this one is the opposite, nice change. This story is full of hot sexy romance that maybe to much for some reads and okay for others but moving past that this really is a good sweet romance story. Miranda Phillips is a woman who use to be wild and crazy when she was younger. Now that she is all grown up she is trying to get away from a reputation she made for herself. She may not have been the best growing up but now she is trying to be a different person. She is currently the only reporter in Lone Star but she is still fighting the judgment she gets. She is tough and doesn't allow anyone to get in the way of what she wants especially when it comes to him. What will happen when she corners him in a dark hallway, will she let him know just how attracted she is to him?

Ryan John is just trying to stay away from one thing that he can't see to get enough off. What will happen when he receives a mystery letter and now needs her help? Will this give him the excuse he needs to be with her? Will they get their one night? Is it all that wrong to be attracted to some one from the wrong side of the tracks? She is trouble for him and he can't afford any trouble right now. Will he be able to resist her?

Miranda and Ryan's relationship is one of attraction beyond attraction. They grew up on opposite sides of the tracks but does that make them wrong to be together? If he didn't need her help so much would he walk away from trouble? Being with her is just inviting trouble but at what point will it not matter anymore for them? These are two strong characters even though you will find yourself asking what were they thinking or even getting angry with some of their choices but it really doesn't take away from who they are. She is just so strong and knows what she wants. She is determined to get rid of her reputation that she just won't let anyone stop her. He is kind and responsible for the most part. He is not your alpha male but not every male in a book needs to play the alpha. He is sweet and has a lot of responsibility and needs to protect that. Despite their flaws, I think you will fall in love with these characters. Find out what happens with these two characters, will they cross the tracks? Will they give in to their attraction? Is it possible that they could have their HEA?

This is my first story by Ashley Bostock and I know it won't be the last. I can't wait to read book 2 in this series! Ashley grew up in Colorado and still lives there. When she is not writing, you can find her reading, traveling in a wanderlust's eyes, but to those who have not traveled so, she has traveled far. You will enjoy how she will keep you on the edge of your seat through most of this book. You will need to see what happens with these characters once they capture your attention. It starts a little slow, but it does pick up where you won't want to put this book down. I highly suggest this book as I know you will want to see what happens to these two, will they give in to their attraction? ...more

Wet had me hooked from the start and I couldn't put it down. I expected this to be the typical romance story of girl has bad reputation and guy helps change how everyone sees her whilst falling in love with her but Wet is so much more. There's suspense and drama thrown into the mix and Ashley Bostock gives the reader plot twists just when you think you've got it all figured out.

I really felt for Miranda who made mistakes when younger and was still paying for them. She didn't have the best of childhoods but had turned her life around and learnt from her past with the help of Golda McClanahan who was the owner of Lone Star’s paper before selling it. Golda was Miranda’s mentor and grandmother figure who gave her the loyalty and support she needed at that time.

Poor Ryan had also worked hard to achieve a life that didn't involve working on the farm but he gave everything up to raise his siblings and give them the stability he felt they needed. He literally put his life on hold so they could live theirs in safety and familiarity. He put so much pressure on himself and denied his own needs and wants. He became so wrapped in creating the perfect life for his siblings that he found himself judging Miranda just as everyone else did. I didn't hate him for this though because he didn't do it deliberately.

This is the first book I've read by Ashley Bostock and it won't be the last. I can't wait to read Wild, book 2, which we get a sneak peek of at the end of Wet. I recommend that you buy Wet as soon as possible! ...more

Having had very neglectful parents, her upbringing wasn’t the best and Miranda got herself into quite a lot of trouble over the years.
That was so long ago now, but the town’s folk haven’t forgotten or forgiven. Her reputation follows her. Even though she has changed so much and is nothing like she used to be, she is still treated like an outcast and only tolerated because she’s the only reporter in town. Miranda soldiers on and tries not to let the judgemental and narrow-minded people get to her. She is so passionate, determined and focused. When she attends a wedding reception in the town hall, Miranda notices Ryan Johns across the room watching her. She becomes consumed by him and starts fantasizing about him and what they could do together. She manages to corner him in the dark hallway, where they manage to set each other on fire. But he disappeared right after and has been avoiding her ever since. She wanted to believe he was different and would look past the stories and gossip, but it seems like he may be concerned about appearances and her reputation, after all.
Ryan Johns is thirty-one years old and a member of the town council. He inherited his parent’s farm when they died 6 years ago, along with becoming the guardian for his younger brother and sister. He works hard to keep the farm running, providing for his siblings, as well as his responsibilities as a council member. Being the youngest councilman- he has fought hard to win the respect, trust and approval of the townsfolk and he won’t jeopardise that for anyone, no matter how tempting they are. Anyway he is much too busy for a relationship. But there was something about her that intrigued him, but she made him lose control and he couldn’t afford that. He needed to stay away from her……Miranda was definitely off-limits,
But when he receives a suspicious letter in the mail, he needs help in tracking down the sender, so he asks Miranda for her help because he knows that she is a skilled investigator. He makes her a deal that she can’t refuse, one that will change both their lives- forever.
These two are like wildfire when they get together. The heat they generated was so intense; it set the pages of my kindle on fire.
The story is superb and I loved following Ryan and Miranda on their journey. The characters were really well developed, complex and endearing- which mad e the journey even more addictive.
The story is told from a duel POV; it has a great pace and flows smoothly. It was easy to read and I flew through it in one sitting.
I can’t wait to read more from this very talented author.

This is the first story that I have read by the author and can say that it won’t be the last. She has a wonderful way of weaving a story that keeps your interest all the way through and has written characters that you care about. This story does have some twists to it and I would find myself thinking that I knew what was going on and then something else would happen that would lead me down an entirely different path. This is also a story about small towns and the way that some people are treated. Everyone in this world makes mistakes and no one should have to go through what Miranda does. I found myself frustrated with the townspeople who have such closed minds. Miranda is a very strong and smart woman. She has to be in order to keep living in Lone Star. Miranda has a large heart which beats for one man, Ryan John. Will Miranda find herself in Ryan’s arms or will her status in the community stamp out any chance of a romance?

Ryan is a man that has a lot of responsibility. A farm, a spot on the city council, and his younger brother and sister to raise. He is very attracted to Miranda, however, her past and how the town sees her is all he can see. I knew that they both are crazy for each other from the beginning and was always rooting for them to get together. He also has a situation that he needs Miranda’s help with and soon finds himself spending more time with her. He begins to question choices that he has made in his life and starts to wonder about the future. Will Ryan find that he wants Miranda as part of his future? Will he find out who is trying to buy his stock of water rights? Is there more going on than meets the eye? Read this story to find out if Miranda and Ryan get their happy ending. This story does have adult situations which include some very steamy love scenes. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age and older. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Appearances aren’t always what they seem. Mistakes in the past can define a person. Or, if determined enough, they can set someone on the path they should have always been on. This is the situation Miranda finds herself in, trying to move forward, her past always holding her back, in Wet by Ashley Bostock.

“Maybe this woman was worth it.”

Miranda has lived in Lone Star all her life. She made mistakes in her past that have set most of the town against her. She is used to the stares, she is used to Appearances aren’t always what they seem. Mistakes in the past can define a person. Or, if determined enough, they can set someone on the path they should have always been on. This is the situation Miranda finds herself in, trying to move forward, her past always holding her back, in Wet by Ashley Bostock.

Ryan has an image to uphold. Guardian of his two younger siblings he was worked hard to gain the respect of the town he lives in. And now that he has he will do anything he can to make sure it stays that way. And if he finds himself attracted to the one person who should be off limits? Well then he will ignore the attraction until it fades away.
Yet no matter how hard he tries Ryan cannot deny that he is drawn to the feisty Miranda. He sees how she is shunned by the town and would do anything to change it. But with two kids dependant on him his hands are tied.

When they are forced to work together to unearth a mystery surrounding the town and its water rights both Miranda and Ryan find it hard to deny their attraction for each other. Giving in, just once, seems like the best way to get it out of their system once and for all. But when once isn’t enough they are forced to admit that maybe they are just meant to find a way to make things work.

This as a great novel about first impressions and second chances. While everyone makes a first impression that can be hard to change, everyone also deserves a second chance to show people they can be different. Whether that is how they’ve grown or what they are trying to become, everyone deserves the belief from another that they can do what they set out to. I enjoyed this from start to finish. The heroine was confident and sassy, determined not to let anything get her down. And the hero is everything you could want in a book boyfriend, caring, protective and downright sexy. A very good read, I’m looking forward to the next.

The connection between the main characters is palpable and the story is filled with many of their hot and steamy moments. Miranda Phillips has always been judged by the mistakes of her past, even as an adult she still can’t seem to change people’s opinions. Miranda lives in the small town of Lone Star, where everyone knows everything and nobody forgets anything. She’s always been attracted to bad boys, mostly because there the only one’s who gave her the time of day, but she’s always had a thing for Ryan. He’s nothing like she’s normally used too; he’s almost the exact opposite, which makes her want him even more. Ryan has always found her attractive but she’s also untouchable. He had to grow up quickly after the death of his parents, needing to take care of his younger siblings and running the farm. He’s never had time for relationships and he definitely can’t start now with Miranda. He’s worked hard to build trust and respect with other members of the community and he can’t risk them being disappointed. But will his heart win out or will he continue to let other people’s opinions run his life?

Wet is a story where values come into question, pasts come back to haunt them and trust is broken but it’s also a story about learning that our pasts don’t define us. I had a hard time getting into this book for the first little while, as I really didn’t like Ryan and his need to uphold his reputation. I really wasn’t a fan of him and his attitude so I was so surprised when he started to grow on me. Reading from his POV really helped get a better understanding of him. Miranda was really relatable, we all know someone like her and who deals with her struggles so it was great being able to read form her POV. I found her to be frustrating at times but then, like Ryan, she grew on me. I look forward to reading Wild, book two in the series.

This is my first Ashley Bostock read. It's set in a small town where everyone knows your business and holds you accountable for your past. They don't see you for the person you have become years later because they feed into the rumor mills.

Wet is the first book in the Love in Lone Star series written by Ashley Bostock. This is a compelling read that will see you with a smile on your face and laughing at times when you least expect it. I really liked reading this story. The sex was really good. The story line was good. Ashley Bostock has written a story with an easy and natural flow. The characters are likeable and even relatable. Especially Miranda. Miranda could be me minus her crazy sex life.

Wet was the first book I've read by Ashley Bostock. I thought the book was pretty good. I liked the characters but, oddly enough, I thought the book was to long but, I guess it needed to be with the twist.

Ryan John is a respectable man who has stepped up to care for his much younger twin siblings when their parents died unexpectedly. He also runs the family farm and is an important member of the city council.
