The definition of Interdiction is to confront and halt the activities, advance, or entry of an unwanted element. Criminal Interdiction is the identification and interception of these unwanted criminal elements. Criminal Interdiction is for the patrol officer who wants to perform their profession more efficiently. Future officers, students, and the public can learn about how and why we do certain things in this countries war on crime. One of the most experienced interdiction officers in the country wrote Criminal Interdiction. It is not a tell all book, but a guide we can all use to come home safely. Safety is the lead component, as you will learn to quickly recognize the dangers of the people who are encountered.

About the author

I am a retired State Trooper and worked for the FHP for over 29 years. For the last 27 years, I have worked in the Patrols Contraband Interdiction Program as both an interdiction officer and a K-9 officer. I am a certified instructor for the agency in various areas.

I was a part of FHP's interdiction pilot program which began in 1983. Almost my entire career has been involved in criminal interdiction. I have worked with and assisted the Texas DPS in the Valley, the U.S. Border Patrol and U.S. Customs Inspectors in various regions of the border in Texas and New Mexico.

I have taught as an adjunct instructor for three years for the MCTFT program through St. Petersburg College. I have taught officers in nearly every state of the union courses in highway interdiction and body language and officer safety.

Every Cop Should Read and Learn from this Book

I recommend this book for every patrol officer in the US. It's an eye opener what criminals do to smuggle drugs, people and other items.

If you aren't learning new techniques, you are losing the battle!

Besides many glaring grammatical mistakes, this is a great read for patrol officers and should be mandatory reading for police academies everywhere.

Excellent book for police officers looking to increase their performance on the street. This law enforcement training book is an excellent introduction to the world of criminal interdiction: using traffic stops as a means of identifying and catching criminals. I have long advocated for this approach to traffic enforcement. I don't care about issuing citations: I want to get crooks off the street.
