If you are squeamish or can't tolerate animals suffering, then don't read this book and definitely don't look at the photos. That said, I think every animal owner should read this as an example of what not to do to your pets during a natural disaster. I know that the flooding could not have been anticipated but why would anyone padlock their horses in their stalls? Those poor animals had no chance of survival. During a natural disaster, a loose horse has a fighting chance. A stalled one doesn't. Sad. I am sorry for those who lost their horses and happy for those who were reunited with them. I think the LSU vet team did an awesome job rescuing animals from the flood waters.

This book is little graphic in detail of what horses had to go through during the storm. Sad parts but parts that made you happy. Its amazing what people will do for animals in times of need when they cant help themselves

An excellent story with a complete guide for emergency preparedness no matter where you live! It really makes you think about what could happen and question how prepared you would be if it did.
