Sarah Hegger has crafted a beautifully-written medieval world and family in the Sir Arthur's Legacy series, so I was really looking forward to returning to this world. When I started the book, I was completely thrown by how different it was, but once I got into it, I found the characters even more touching than before.

The Story-
Henry went off to the crusades several years ago and, somehow, has ended up a slave in North Africa. An old friend buys his freedom at the same time that a local

Releasing Henry by Sarah Hegger
Sir Arthur Legacy #5

Have you ever read a book and found yourself immersed in and almost part of the story? That is what happened to me while reading the story of Alya and Henry. Why? Well, there was much that correlated with and paralleled my own story. In what ways you ask? WellI married and moved to a foreign country, a country where the native tongue was not my own, where food was different, where culture was very different and where I was and will always be

Historical romance is one of my favorite sub-genres, and it's hard to come up with something truly new, but Sarah Hegger has done it. I've never read a historical of this time period where a knight is taken as a slave, kept captive for years, and then released with his hated eunuch keeper along with someone he later marries. If nothing else, major points for the originality. That said, this is a bit of a tough read. Henry doesn't treat Alya very well through most of the book. Also, he's so ...more

This was a truly amazing story that should be on your reading list if you love historical romances. Henry a Knight is captured and held as a slave to a wealthy merchant. That merchant has Henry deliver his daughter Alya to their family in Genoa in order to gain his freedom. What ensues is a difficult journey that does not end as expected. Strong emotions, suspense and intrigue keep you turning the pages to find out what happens. Sarah Hegger is an excellent storyteller who makes the characters ...more

I have been a fan of Sarah Hegger for awhile and I have enjoyed her books. This book was a little tough for me to read because I never have like the slavery topic, but the way she did this story is was so heartfelt it changed my mind. The story is about Henry was the youngest son of Anglesea, the once idealistic Henry has survived the Holy Pilgrimage, but lost all his deeply held beliefs in honor and nobility. Captured in battle, he is sold as a slave. Alif Al-Rasheed, a wealthy Genovese ...more

Releasing Henry by Sarah Hegger is a fabulous historical romance. I'm giving this book five stars, only because I can't give it six. Ms Hegger has penned a stunning story and stuffed it full of phenomenal characters. I can't say enough good things about the characters in this book, they're that amazing. Henry and Alya's story has drama, action, sizzle and suspense and kept this reader glued to her kindle. I love, love, love this book, even though I may have needed a tissue once or twice. Henry will do anything for Alya. She's a beacon of light at the end of a dark tunnel for him, and the one woman that could help him believe in love again. However, unless they can overcome the things that make them as different as night and day such as religion, language and culture, their chance at happy ever after will never come to fruition. Will Henry be able to show Alya that their marriage is not one of convenience, or will their differences keep them apart?

Ms. Hegger is such a brilliant

Some may choose to skip over this series, especially this book, because they feel it has religious themes within. They would be missing out on a wonderful writer and a very special story.
Henry of Anglesea is a trained knight, born of a courageous and loyal family. Being idealistic and against the family's wishes, he took off on a crusade to spread the principles of Christianity. Sadly, he was treated horribly during this pilgrimage and found himself a slave to a wealthy man in Cairo.

Oh my stars.... it's taken me a few days to figure out how to write this review. Every time I thought I could, the emotions from this book overwhelmed me and I felt inadequate at explaining how good this book, and this series, truly is. I laughed, I hurt, I cursed at characters and I bawled like a baby. But in the end, I was better for having read the book.

This book, like the first four, can be read alone but is best when read as a series. In the earlier books, Henry has left his family on less

I was beyond thrilled to read this final book in the Sir Arthur's Legacy series. In each previous book, Hegger has written some phenomenal heroes and perfectly feisty heroines. This book promised much of the same, but with what I found to be an even more desperate and intriguing storyline.
The return of Newt was much anticipated and very humorous. He added such a terrific element to this book and the laughs were needed amongst some of the heavier and more heartbreaking content.

Alya needs to leave her country and her Father sends her with Henry and a trusted friend. They travel carefully and come into trouble on more than one occasion. Henry realizes he must marry her to keep her safe. When they get back to Anglesea he is expecting her to be enveloped into their world. Things are not always what they should be and Henry is oblivious to what is going on right under his nose. They have many obstacles to get over. In the end the answers will come.

So beautiful, moving, and so much more.
Alya knows only that her father is tying to protect her. But a deal is struck, and Henry tells her father he will protect her with everything he is. Henry calls Alya is girl on the wall. She is his everything. But because of her faith no one likes her. This is the way she feels when they return to Anglesea. Henry won't let her run away.

They both grew up differently. So many things may just come between them. But will they let them?

Highly recommend.

This book was excellent, branching out to Egypt the final of Sir Arthur's children finds his Bride. Although a romance novel it explores themes of racism and faith. I spent the whole book aching for Henry, broken by his poor choice to join the crusades he has lost all hope but events take him home to Anglesey where he has to try to be the man he was or get his family to accept the man he now is. His bride Alya finds herself a stranger in a strange land with only a damaged man to help her ...more

A triumphant ending to a great series. I will miss this series, I have to say, but the book wrapped it all up very nicely in an emotional, wonderful story that made me smile and tear up, sometimes at the same moment. A great read that (as usual with Ms. Hegger's books) kept me up past my bedtime, because i could not put it down.

Henry finds a new purpose and love after being sold into captivity to a merchant. Alya and Henry must overcome multiple obstacles to find their future. This author transports the reader to another time with sights and settings for a good read.
Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
