Going to try and keep this short-ish (who am I kidding? 😂) and straight to the point.

What I liked?

Everything else?

For me what made this decent was the ongoing development between Cameo and Lazarus prior to this book. Their story was built up since Torin’s book. So their (re)connection and his possessive ‘mine mine mine!’ in here carried weight. I felt it and believed it. This couple is perfect example of why I gravitate toward couples built overtime in this series rather than
Quick thoughts

So, it was an improvement from the last 2-3 books in this series but it's not without it's flaws, of course.

Lazarus and Cameo were a HUGE disaster waiting to happen and it was really close to be exactly that but it wasn't just because we were already familiar with the couple. I think that if Cameo and Lazarus' story began in this book, it would've been a mess.

I don't know how long I can continue reading stories were the male character vomits the word "mine" pretty much in chapt

He couldn’t get enough of her, this woman who’d enchanted him past all reason. She was passion and pleasure, suddenly his sole reason for breathing.”

Is it just me, or does the wait between releases in this series get more and more painful every time I finish another book? Because I'm pretty sure I've been rocking myself in a corner ever since we got teased with the possibility of Lazarus and Cameo back in The Darkest Touch. You'd think that after 13 books in a series, I'd find

To say I was worried going into this read would be an understatement. After the nap fest that was Baden's book I didn't have high hopes going into Cameo's book, even though I loved her and Lazarus. I ended up really enjoying this read for the most part. I loved Cameo and Lazarus relationship. I felt their connection. I also loved Viola, Ever and Urban. Urban was so damn cute with his crush on Viola. The flow of this book was much better.

So in love with cameo and Lazarus book!!! I love cameo and I'm so glad she finally got her happy ending. Cameo is one of the best characters from the dark series, any hot bad ass chic that can hold her own in a group of totally alpha males has got to be awesome. Her and Lazarus have a chemistry that burns up the pages and leads them both down the path of a love of a lifetime!! Their is a lot going on in this book and I love it. So many memorable moments with the Lord's and their ladies and let's ...more

Finally we have the book I’ve been impatiently waiting for the last two years - Cameo and Lazarus!

“I can walk into a room and ruin a party,” she snapped. “You can open your mouth and do the same.”
Not missing a beat—when did he ever?—he traced his white-hot tongue around the shell of her ear. “Speaking of a party... I’m inviting myself to the one in your pants.”

Cameo is probably my favorite of the Lords of the Underworld. Possessed by the demon of Misery, she is unable to experie

To be honest, at this point I'm only continuing with this series because of William... All my fav characters aren't even mentioned much anymore, new characters resemble the old ones, the plots are somewhat not working for me and most importantly I'm a little tired of waiting for Gilliam to finally happen! It's been 11 books...haven't we been patient enough? And now after finishing this one, I'm not even sure if it'll ever happen...argh!

At least I really liked the relationship between Cameo and Lazarus. It felt natural and right.
Also, I'm intrigued about Viola. I didn't like her much in the previous books, but she has definitely caught my attention now. The same goes to Siobhan. Let us hope for the best, but wait for the worst.

Just so you know Gena, I'm done with this series until I find out what happens with William and Gilly.

I didn't even finish the last book.

I'm sorry but most of the females in this series are immature beyond belief, but somehow Gilly isn't WOMAN enough for William?

William the Ever Randy with his own 747 full of baggage and immaturity and irresponsibility?

Yeah. That's bull and I'm calling it.

I would love nothing more than to continue this series but until I know for sure what happens, I'm on a L

You know, when you haven't read a book in a long time and you forget how much you loved it and then you read it again and remember, that's what I'm feeling right now. I read this book way before it came out, almost two years ago and at the time never wrote a review. I decided to reread it because the next book will be out soon and I wanted to dive back in the series. Best choice I've ever made.

The Darkest Promise is one of my favorite book from the Lords of the Underworld series. It's so poignan
Ohmygosh this was SO GOOD. I’ve been waiting for Cameo, Keeper of the Demon of Misery, to get her story – and it is better than I have imagined.

I literally have not gobbled up a book this quick in so long. My attention was 100% into it. This book has action, drama, romance, humor, mythology – dark moments, touching moments, what more could I want? This is definitely in the top 3 from the 16/18 books this entire world has so far.

And as always, this series always manages to shock me with how w

I have to say, I have been waiting for so long and I was expecting a solid 5 from this book, Im a little disappointed :( ..
I liked it, but it definitely fell from Gena Showalter's standards..
I cant believe Im going to have to wait a year for the next book..

I feel like I have lost interest in this kind of romances which is shocking since I used to love this series.

“When everything has gone wrong, rejoice. Something must now go right.”

Lazarus and Cameo's book was everything I wanted. Have been waiting for it since Kane's book.

Cameo is a better character than I anticipated, I thought she would be boring cause of her demon, but she is anything but. Despite the demon making her miserable as it does others.

Lazarus is amazing, I always knew this but his POV made him better, his thoughts are crazy. But his love for Cameo overcame his paranoia and quest for v

I've had a soft spot for Cameo since the very first time we meet her.  She's the keeper of Misery and she can't even speak without everyone around bursting into tears!  The girl has had it bad.  Plus, she's also had her heart broken when she was betrayed by a previous boyfriend.  I thought her little affair with Torin was interesting but I wanted to see more passion for her.  I wanted someone to tip the scale and give her so much pleasure it would override all the misery she's had to deal wi ...more
Welllllll yes there definitely are spoilers ahead!!!!!!!!!!

From Lazarus' thoughts we realize that he had met Cameo on 2 previous occasions before being "trapped" in the Rod. On those occasions he recognized her as his μονομανία but because his own father's μονομανία led to his destruction Lazarus stays away from her. When they meet in the Rod he is aware of what she is to him and though they ended up making out Cameo is rescued without things going further.
Weeks later her demon has once again ta

Cameo is possessed by the Demon Misery.

Lazarus, the Cruel and Unusual, a child of a god and ruler of a kingdom, will stop at nothing to crack Cameo’s unhappiness…but he also doesn’t want to keep her because of the curse his father has passed down to him.

Will he cruelly rip away any happiness Cameo might find?

Can they beat the untenable odds, the dark forces plotting against them?

You’ll have to check out The Darkest Promise the 13th book in the Lords of the Underworld series.

I have to say that
Sara Reads (mostly) LOTS of Romance
Was waiting for this book and really loved it, but it lacked the steam that Baden's book got. Honestly the romance was a really good build up but the sex was lacking. Normally that's not too big of an issue for me, but just know that this is the 13th book of a series with pretty high levels of steaminess, and this lacked that a LOT, especially since book 12 had a shit load of smut, so that confused me, otherwise i loveeeed cameo and lazarus

Tortured falls for melancholy only to be transformed into something miraculous. The latest book in this Series is just as dark and depressing as the previous ones. For those who have not read the previous books, this book can be read as a standalone. Ms. Showalter does an excellent job of re-capping the events up to date. She also creates a deeply moving story of two lost souls.

Cameo is one of the few women who are part of the Lords of the Underworld. She is literally cursed with the demon Miser

I was super pumped for Cameo and Lazarus back when they where announced but my passion cooled when they where followed by Gilly and the Goat and now William and his Pony. It took me more than a year to read this, and the couple itself was very standoffish. I could not feel any emotion from them whatsoever. And even though the stakes where high, I never managed to be invested.

I am very disappointed that Gena seems to have lost interest in this series and her characters for a long time yet she kee

First of all, this review is going to be very long, and full of spoilers, so if you haven't read the book yet and you don't want your eyes to explode...beware
Second of all, if you aren't a Gilliam Shipper your may probably want to skip this review and continue with your life. The same remains to those who are hardcore Gena fans. It's going to be nasty and i won't shut up anything.

Ok then. Lets get started.

You know, I'm not quite sure how to express how much I loved this book. In fact I haven't enjoyed a LOTU book this much in a while. Which of course is saying something since I always enjoy them.

First off let me say that I absolutely adore Lazarus. He's totally booted Strider out of first place in my LOTU faves. Despite his moniker of Cruel and Unusual he really is a fabulous guy. Plus he was fierce, protective and willing to do anything to keep the ones he loves safe.

I loved this. The Lord's of the Underworld is within my top five favorite paranormal romance series. This series definitely has dark undertones. What I like the best is that you could take out all the smutty sex and still have a great story, that cant be said about too many paranormal romance series. In this we have Cameo kepper of the demon misery and Lazarus. They are a great fit for one another, especially considering her voice does not effect him as it does others. For most the moment they h ...more

Pre-review: I am very new to this series but I'm so curious to read these two MCs' story!!!Cameo, host of the demon Misery and Lazarus the Cruel and Unusual!! I want this book now! But...June...? The waiting is too much! *cries tear of pain*

Note: this is the first ebook I've ever bought!

I got really excited over this pairing even since The Darkest Touch and this novel with them as the main characters really doesn't disappoint! Romantic angst! Sexual tension! Adventures! Lovers
