This was a good overview of Britain in terms of the places that you might want to visit. I have a special interest in the stone and earth structures, and there was a whole section on that.
It was arranged chronologically, which really helped! I liked the historical tidbits throughout, and the maps were helpful too. I think this is something I would consult again if I were going to take another trip to the UK - which I am. Just not sure when yet!
I paged through this over a couple days. It's not the type of book that you are meant to read cover to cover. But I found it very interesting!

Britain's history divided into 5 periods of time, with a brief overview of what happened and a listing of buidlings to visit, by area. Includes maps, photos, opening times, charges. Very thorough; one of the best references for planning a trip to Englnad, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland!
