Books 1-3 of Clint Wolf Mystery Trilogy by award-winning author BJ Bourg now available as a boxed set!
BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
Embattled former detective Clint Wolf is the newly appointed police chief for Mechant Loup, a small swampy town in southeast Louisiana. Usually a quiet town, the tranquility of the place is shattered when a human arm is found in the jowls of an alligator. Once it’s determined the arm belongs to a reputable business owner, the race is on to find the man and figure out what happened to him. Little does Clint know that solving the case could unearth a plot so evil it would go down as the worst event in Louisiana history . . . and he might not live to see it.
BUT NOT FORGIVEN
When a woman is found dead on her doorsteps—shot through the heart with an arrow—Clint Wolf and Susan Wilson go to work trying to track down the sadistic killer. On the very next day, a second victim is murdered in his driveway (killed in the same manner) and it's now a race against time to uncover the motive behind the killings and identify the murderer. What they know so far is that he's a skilled archer preying on human targets, and they have no clue where he'll strike next.
As though the case itself isn't complicated enough, the district attorney has launched a grand jury investigation into Susan's actions during a shooting that saved Clint's life. No one knows exactly why the DA is gunning for Susan, but one thing is crystal clear . . . it's personal.
BUT NOT FORSAKEN
No one knows why the district attorney is gunning for Susan Wilson, but Clint Wolf is determined to find out—even if it’ll get him in trouble. While he works to clear Susan’s name, his crusade is sidelined when a bar manager is murdered during an apparent armed robbery. The method of operation is eerily similar to those used by the ruthless gang who killed his family, and Clint might soon have to face down the demons from his past to solve the mystery.
Will Clint walk that fine line between good and evil, or will he abandon his principles to settle an old score? Whatever choice he makes, one thing is certain . . . it’ll come at a hefty price.

A really fast enjoyable story, that I really had a hard time putting down. I was going to just read one book or part & read something else & go back to it, but the first book left me wanting to read more & more. So in the end I ended up reading the whole trilogy. I am glad this was offered as a box set since the first & second book ended with cliff hangers & I really think it should have been released as one novel & not three separate parts or books as they are called. If you want to read a fast paced action packed mystery, check this one out, but get the trilogy & not just the first book.
First, I want to tell the author that you can't depend on spell check to proof your work. These books had more errors that any book I have read. It is hard to proofread your own work. Perhaps a paid reader would be the best option. Second, the first book in which the protagonist gets a puppy and does not train the puppy but leaves him for hours on end in a crate makes me wonder why such a kind, thoughtful man would be so cruel. Last, the stories are very well thought out and well written. I appreciate a good story and these books delivered good and different stories.
Another story with great potential that falls flat
The premises of this series is really great. The delivery lacking because there are too many editorial foul ups across all three books. the dispatcher gets the spelling of her name changed after chapter 4, at one point the protagonist leaves work on time but during the drive must have been abducted by ancient aliens cause he arrives 3 hours later, an AR15 morphs into a shotgun then back to an AR15. The author gets so wrapped up in the minutia trying to distract the reader he looses sight of the whole. Needs an editor
Great trilogy, books one and three stronger than book two
But Not Forgotten
Book One...The author sure knows how to grab the reader and get their attention...brutal murder followed by alligator attack! And the first book in the Clint Wolf series is off and running!
Our hero has some majorly unresolved issues when he takes a new job as a police chief in a small Louisiana town. There is intrigue afoot and the author deftly takes us through the storyline with lots of red herrings. There are several elements that just don’t work for me (a non-curious reporter?!) but it’s the author’s attempt to serve the storyline. Unfortunately it just doesn’t ring true and therefore interferes with the story for me.
I did deduce the bad guy before the reveal because it was one of those things that didn’t ring true but the climax is shocking and leads right into book two. Strongly recommend.
But Not Forgiven
Book Two in the Clint Wolf series starts 15 months after the events ending book one but dealing with the aftermath. There are two storylines running here: the grand jury hearing I to the shooting that saved Clint’s life and a murderer killing people with arrows.
The grand jury proceedings are going along fine until the DA takes a sudden interest and it’s clear that he has a vendetta against Susan which no one can figure out. The arrow killings make no sense for a long time until after three victims (one is way bizarre) finally gets them a clue they need as to what they all have in common. But even after they are sure who the killer is they can’t find him.
There are once again several things that make no sense plus Clint’s girlfriend Chloe really gets on my last nerve. An additionally we are dealing with Clint’s alcohol self medicating to get to sleep at night and a functioning alcoholic as police chief just doesn’t give me a reason to care about the MC. This book was frustrating as by the end there are really only two characters I’m feeling any fondness for and one of them is a dog. I’ll read book three as it appears it will directly affect Susan, the only character I like now!
But Not Forsaken
Book Three...This third book in the Clint Wolf series wraps up a story arc that woven through the first three books. It also deals with a murder that has connections to a twenty year old murder. It’s interesting and good plotting and holds the reader’s attention for the duration.
There are a number of moving pieces here that all circle each other and intersect. The men responsible for the death of Clint’s wife and daughter are released bc the DA decides there’s not enough evidence for a trial and they come looking for revenge on Clint. There’s also the twenty year old murder of the DA’s wife that pops back up on the radar as a result of his vendetta against Susan. Then there relationship issues and trust, lying and cheating become predominant themes.
It’s exciting on all fronts. It all comes together in a satisfying ending that could wrap things up but fortunately there are more books to come in this small town with these main characters.
I’m a man who understands his weaknesses.—BJ Bourg (aka Clint Wolf)”
Simply put ...
BJ Bourg, writes with a passion in a fast paced—easy reading style, that culminates into suspense and confusion that emanates into a thrilling whirlwind that emotionally drains you!
Blow for blow with shattering results, piercing projectiles of threatening gunfire with unspeakable horrors, murder, incessant killings, and dreadful heartaches with heartfelt losses that overwhelms you—he simply keeps you riveted.
Stunned, guessing, and in the end rewarded with his clever deceptions that leaves you satisfied with a climactical conclusion that’s in concert to your very own assertion ...
Great writer, great stories, that leaves you wanting more! I’m off to Clint Wolf Books 4-6 ...!!
BUT. NOT FORGOTTEN I have enjoyed all the books by Bourg, and now this series. He takes an unusual incident, that causes concern to the community of how, and the details, become much more sinister. The depth of details readers will enjoy the steps taken to figure out this crime. BUT NOT FORGIVEN draws you into this shocking second story. You feel the emotions of the nightmares that haunt his sleep. He has a new life as a Chief of police, and a new girlfriend. His plots are unusual, in this using an archer. Readers will love Bourg books, and the audio version by Bennett. BUT NOT FORSAKEN Clint faces more than he may want, but to get answer to the past would be worth it. He walks a fine line between good and evil. This has two plots that twists and turns. Great series
I read and watch a lot of police books and shows, so when I read the description of these books on the Amazon site, I had to read them. I'm glad I did. All three books were real page turners, and I read far into the nights. The characters are all well built, with just enough information to make the reader feel as if they know them. The mysteries were twisted back and forth with the answers hidden until the end, even for avid mystery buffs. Police procedurals were described without taking over the stories. I would and will recommend these books to anyone, especially those who like police stories.
When a novelist can creatively develop a trilogy of mysteries with many of the same characters throughout while each book feels fresh and so full-dimensional like a 3-D movie, it's difficult to lay it down to get some sleep! From the beginning, Bourg hitches readers to a fast-moving vehicle that doesn't slow down. Filled with violence, love respect and unbelievable level of enjoyment throughout, this is one of the best series of novels ever written!
Yes these are great stories, but why two stars? Am I stupid? Well, not completely. With great characters and stories and lots of complicated plots that are written so well it’s easy to follow them, I really liked these books. 2 stars is because of the expletive profanity. It’s not all that common, there is also some cursing and crude and also sexual suggestive writing. It’s a pity because the stories are so good. Murder, rage, revenge, love and absolute heartbreak.
I'm glad that I gave this author a chance. This series has a lot of twist and turns in it. If you like a very good mystery this is a series for you. This series will have you thinking who know who did what but it will be something you didn't expect. This series is very well thought out and written really good. I had a hard time putting this series down. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.
I really enjoyed this set of books. Usually, I will read one in a series and then take a break so I don't get tired of the characters, repeat phrases and the stories in general. I real all three of these, one after another. I love the Louisiana setting. Each book left me wanting more. I was never sure what was going to happen to each character, some that made me happy, some sad. I especially liked the ending, which I will NOT reveal. You have to read them for yourself.
Passable but not great. I'm not the best at fine details and even so I caught at least a few errors. Definitely a lack of proper proofreaders here. In addition there is a large amount of predictably from the very start of the first book which makes the interactions and characters feel a bit stale.
The basics are definitely there so it's not a complete loss. But it is most definitely amateurish in my opinion.
I started reading this series about 6 months ago and put it down when my husband had a mild heart attack. I don't remember why I stopped reading. Anyway it's about a cop whose family was murdered and how he can't live with himself. He takes a job in a small town in Louisiana where bad acts follow. One of them being the 3 brothers who killed his family. Anyway the first 3 books in the series ends pretty well so I'm looking forward to the next 3 books of the series.
I really enjoyed the first three books in the series. The author was new but I decided to try his books out and glad I did. The only problem I had was it was very difficult to stop reading them and go to bed!!! Lots of action, great stories, and characters you really care about!! I plan to get the next set of 3 books in the series on Kindle (4,5 &6). I highly recommend reading them. Great entertainment!!
BJ Bourg's Clint Wolf mysteries were all thrilling, containing complex twists and turns in the plots. The setting of a small town in Louisiana at the end of nowhere was beautiful and curious. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series and look forward to reading others of BJ Bourg's Mysteries.
This trilogy had a lot of twists and turns. It keep you guessing at the outcome of a lot of different situations. At times it was confusing as to who was having an affair with whom. Overall, I enjoyed it and would recommend it to any one who loves a good mystery.
All three of these books will grab you and keep you guessing to the end. Clint Wolf is the best cop you could never have for your community. I was disappointed when I reached the end of book three because I wanted to follow Clint for more adventures. You will not be disappointed with these books.
Kept me on the edge of my seat! I had a very hard time putting this book down and often spent time running into the small hours of the night. The suspense kept me riveted! There were so many twists and turns in the plot and I I was torn between wanting to know Whodunnit but not wanting to book to end!
All three books were good reading. Book 1was very good,Book 2was good but the author spent a little too much time on the hero's love problems, Book 3, again, this was a good story but the author got a little too carried away with some of the episodes.
Mr. Bourg does a great job of making his characters come to life. Even the minor characters are described with such detail as to make them seem very real. The same with his descriptions of the small town of Merchant Loup, LA. It is almost like you are riding the streets with Clint Wolf seeing things through his eyes.
Sorry...my one-star review is my way of saying these books are written in the first person, which I do not ever read. They may be great stories...and if you do not have the same aversion to first person writing that I do, you may thoroughly enjoy the whole series. Just be warned if you are like me...the entire series is in first person.
I absolutely loved each one of these books. I enjoyed the characters of Clint and Susan and their determination to get their man. The books were well written. They were filled with suspense and made me feel like I was right there with them. I could not get any work done for reading!
Just as the story was coming to an end, it took off into another adventure, and then as that one wraps up, another one takes off. It appears as though the series was finished at the completion of this book. But I peeked and saw at least 8 more books were written. I guess I know what I'll be reading for awhile.
What a fascinating storyteller he is . So many twists and turns in this adventure. Murder, secrets and political corruption it's mind boggling. I loved the strong characters he created within the police dept . , loyalty and friendship. I'm on to find the next book in this series . Bravo !!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The twists, the turns in the storyline and then the terrific ending. And the best part is Achilles was there to the end. I didn’t like him getting shot in book one but he survived and that made my decision to keep reading all three books and I am glad that I did.
Fast paced, exciting and a real page turner. As spell binging as anything I've read lately and I read a lot, at least a book a week Also some great plots and good continuity.
Why is it that so many authors feel the need to add explicit sexual scenes to what would otherwise be fantastic books? Luckily, there were only a few of those in these three books, but they were totally unnecessary to the excellent and well written stories. Characters were well developed and the story was intense. I couldn't put these books down!
Personally, I could not possibly imagine going through as much in such a short time and still be able to process, but the author makes it feel like reality. Kept my interest all the way through.
