I can still feel the magic sometimes, lingering like an old friend. It was everywhere, and its flame burned bright inside everyone. We are born from it, made of it - of light and fire.

For as long as he can remember, Elijah and the Brotherhood of The Sicarri have been at war against the Demons - the ones who have been twisted and burned by their greed for the flame of magi

ARC received in exchange for an honest review

When the author contacted me for a review, I was extremely excited to try something new. Lately my main focus was Romance, but now, thanks to Gina, I was really satisfied with the decision I've made in reading her book.

Let me tell you what she told me, and we will discuss every aspect of this paragraph: " My book is called Of Light And Fire and it is a fantasy built upon a strong father/son relationship with a bit of romance mixed in and a lot of t

I must admit that I really liked this book. The writer brought me into a fantasy world of demons and demon hunter with such ease that I literally devoured every page of the book when I was reading. The world in which there is a story full of magic, but many people who used to crossing the border, which has been allowed to begin to turn into monsters. The magic of it is fully assumed by turning them into demons and they need more magic and they started killing people to steal their magic. When th ...more

The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where demons can inhabit the body of the burned. It is the job of the main protagonist Elijah to fight and kill these evil beings, but during one of his battles he is captured and held, suspended in time for twenty years. By the time he awakens his wife has disappeared and his now fully grown son has taken up his mantle and fighting the demons.

The rest of the story has him learning how to bond with his son Soren, learning about love, and learning abou

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

I was kindly given a copy of Of Light and Fire by the author to review a couple of days ago. The blurb does not do this book justice and for a debut I’m very impressed.

The book follows the main character Elijah as he works with his brotherhood against the demons; Elijah has a family- a wife and 5 year old son – that he would die to protect from the war that is brewing between the Sicarri and the demons. The book ope

Let me just start by saying that by the time I finished the prologue, I was completely hooked. By chapter three, I had to put my kindle down and run to my husband to tell him all about this world. I told him how well-written this book was already, and how I had a perfect idea in my head of the world Gina Shafer had crafted. I had so many questions by that point, but I liked that I was already curious about so many things—to me it was a sign that she’d already sucked me in completely, and I HAD t ...more

I volunteered to read this book for an honest review and I must say that I have found another great author. I emjoyed this book from the beginning to the end. You are able to relate to the characters and this book is easy to follow. Never once did I feel like i was missing anything. The sex scenes in this book were done very tactful and that is something that is not done much anymore! I give 5 stars just for that alone, but there was nothing at all wrong with this book.
I would recommend this boo

Great read

I enjoyed this book very much. A lot of great characters that you care about quickly. Had quite a twist toward the end that was just wonderful. I cant wait for the next book.

Predictable storyline dealing with magic. author shows some ability but novel lags at points.

Of Light and Fire is an extremely well written story of a world in a dark conflict, where the balance of survival is centered on the status an individual’s inner light. Everyday has the potential for death in a land that writhes with battles, where the characters find they aren’t even certain within families who is their friend and who is their foe. Magic is inherent within this world, but it is an enigma. Characters long to immerse themselves in magical power, but if they go too far, they becom ...more

I was blown away by 'Of Light and Fire'. The writing in this book is topnotch, with lots of great detail, but not a wasted word. The plot hits you in all the feels, as the protagonist, Elijah, faces emotional, physical, and moral challenges. The world-building and magic feels natural, without a lot of unnecessary explanations. Seriously can't think of anything to nitpick about this book--it's about as perfect as they come! Highly recommend to anyone--even those who don't typically navigate to fa ...more

I'm a wife, a mom of two beautifully crazy children, and a woman who believes in the impossible. I'm the author of the Burned By Magic Series, the first book - Of Light And Fire is available now. I grew up in California, though now I live in Georgia. I like windy weather, good food, great conversation, and most of all... books that unlock my love for words.

I firmly believe that my writing will te
