My Soul Belongs to You

Rate this book
From the busy city life of Dublin, Ireland to the quiet little town of Hilton Head, South Carolina, two lives are pulled together by tragedy and something more--call it fate, call it faeries.

After giving up a daughter for adoption at sixteen, KATLYN REYNOLDS has built a successful advertising company to keep her mind busy and her heart safe. But this pain from her past has made Kate a use 'em and leave 'em kind of girl, bypassing love and commitment to protect herself. And this system has worked--

--until she meets DEACON O'MALLERY, a sweet, sexy, striving Irish businessman. Deacon is known as a jammy, a lucky bastard. As second in command at the largest intel company in Europe, he has the world by the balls, leaving the orphaned boy who grew up with nothing--and everyone else--behind. Then Katlyn Reynolds walks into his life and he's smitten. Kate is his maité Sol, his soul mate; he just knows it; even his wanker can't stop thinking about her. And, for the first time, after hearing Kate's story of brutality and loss, he wants to find his birth mother, the woman who abandoned him.

Kate's feelings for Deacon are confusing. She cares enough to reveal her past, but insists he find love somewhere else.

Now this stubborn bloke has two missions: to find his mother and to make the girl across the ocean stand by his side forever. Ádh mór ort, Kate! Good luck, he thinks. She's going to need it to fight him off, for he has more than good looks, charm, tenacity, and money on his side. Deacon has Thomas and Calista: spirits he unwittingly beckons into his life.

In the second book in the Soul Mate series the cross-continental frolics continue with Kate and Deacon. Drama blends with desire and an off-the-charts plot, creating the heavyweight champion of page-turners in this sensual romance.

This is the second book in the Soul Mate series. I read this book back to back with the first release. Although these books are standalones I was really happy to read them right after each other. The two characters in this book you do meet in the first however not reading them in order will not hinder your enjoyment.

Deacon and Kate -- another romance across the countryside. Deacon is successful -- Kate is sassy and confident. Both are a catch but both have a past. Kate has a past that defines her confidence although she is successful and doesn't allow her to trust much anyone. Deacon has no issues attracting women and isn't fond of keeping a relationship on his calendar.

During a video conference these two see something in the other they like. However small moments cannot pave the way over the rough heart and ideas that lie in Kates head. Rocky roads make it almost seem impossible to continue trying and with Deacon's life being threatened along the way it seems as if nothing is going to work to try and shine light on either of them.

I really loved the "interventions" that came into play in order to give Deacon and Kate hope. Again this was not my normal read but I loved the way the characters were written and my heart was hurt over their hardships. Click this release up as well as the previous. Its well worth your time. Thank you for the chance to read -- Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Well be prepared to enter a world of fantasy involving mystical angels, romance and erotica all wrapped in a story that would touch anyone's heart. This is the second novel in the Soul Mates series and it flowed on beautifully from Your Soul was made for Mine.
Katlyn Reynolds is a very confident  business woman from the United States that can hold her own in any boardroom but after forming an online relationship with Deacon O'Malley from Ireland, a major player in the largest Intel Company in Europe, she simply goes to pieces in his presence. In this book Kate sneaks into Ireland to see her friends Emmalyn and Nolan but it isn't long before Deacon crosses her path. The chemistry is too much to stay away from each other but Deacon is in for a bit of a shock. This isn't the Kate he thought he knew. They both have secrets from their pasts.
Deacon finally believes in the existence of the angels Thomas and Calista,  and I was enthralled with the story behind why humans have the dent between their nose and mouth. It is just charming. It is one of those stories that will always stick with you.
C. L. Hunter has created a brilliant story line around Kate and Deacon that just left me  emotionally spent. They both need to face their demons and hunt down their pasts but not everything is so cut and dried. Once you know something then it can't be unknown. I am still on a high from reading this book. I loved the first book but this one is definitely the heart and soul. So looking forward to the third book coming out soon.

My Soul Belongs to You by CL Hunter is a true love story about what it really means to love someone completely and unselfishly. It is full of twists and turns and surprises. This book is part of a series, the second book - the first being Your Soul was made for Mine. It is a fast moving read, never boring and it is easy to get attached to the characters. My Soul Belongs to You has a uniqueness to the plot and is a very good read. Sometimes it is a little steamy, but still realistic and not vulgar. Recommended reading for romance lovers.

Article first published as Book Review: ‘My Soul Belongs to You’ by C.L. Hunter on Blogcritics.

“My Soul Belongs to You” is the second book in the Soul Mates series by C.L. Hunter. Merging the magical and mystical delights of a fantasy novel, the suspenseful anticipation of a great mystery/thriller, and the intimate interludes of a steamy romance; it is a story full of enticement, page after enchanting page.

As the owner of a successful advertising agency, Katlyn Reynolds is a powerful, career-driven, modern woman. Trading in love and commitment for authority and control, the walls Katlyn built do a great job of protecting her from life, and the pain of her past.

Starved, abused, and orphaned as a young boy, Deacon O’Mallery rises above his inner turmoil to become second in command of the largest Intel company in Europe, shutting out the demons of old by focusing on business.

When the two meet, there are undeniable sparks, but they will each have to overcome old ghosts and unexpected adversity if they are to have any hopes of a future together.

Where to start? I absolutely loved this book! The writing is brilliant. The author is genuinely accomplished in her storytelling craft. It is clear a lot of research went into writing an authentic tale. As much of the book is set in Ireland, Hunter speaks clearly to readers of the traditions, and language of the Irish people, and the settings are described in such rich detail, one can easily imagine being right there in the beautiful countryside.

There is so much going on in the story I really need to highlight some of the different elements. The suspenseful aspects in the plot take several unanticipated turns, catching me so off guard and causing me to stop reading and say aloud, “well done!” The fantasy components add just the right amount of magical aura, nudging the reader to delve deeper into their own beliefs. Then there’s the romantic spin – OH MY– breathtaking, exquisitely sexy, and stimulating–WOW factor all the way!

The characters are well developed, relatable and grow with the story. They drive and pace the plot with their unique and captivating personalities. Readers will feel the emotional ups and downs, struggles, and triumphs of the characters, as if going through the experiences directly.

Overall, I found “My Soul Belongs to You” by C.L. Hunter to be an excellent, well-rounded, entertaining read. Even though it is book two in the series, it does well as a standalone story–but the series is so well done, I highly recommend readers pick up Hunter’s first book, “Your Soul Was Made for Mine,” and read them in order for the full experience.

My Soul Belongs to you is the sequel to Your soul was made for mine by C.L Hunter. It is the 2nd book of the Soul Mates Series.

I received a copy from the author in turn for my honest review.

I Highly suggest you read the first book before this as there are several references to the previous book even though this book focuses on another couple.

5/5

My soul belongs to you is an impressive book. The characters are expertly written and developed throughout the book - it's not hard to imagine them as real people as real as you and me.

Having read and reviewed the first book of the series I already knew Deacon & Kate to some degree. However, their characters have developed a lot through this story - I personally believe Kate was an almost entirely different person by the end. Of course, I only say almost because come on it's Kate she's not one to back down without a challenge.

Be prepared for a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I personally feel this story wasn't as traditionally 'romantic' as the last. that, however, doesn't mean it wasn't worth reading - in fact, this story was blazing with heated passion, drama and 'action' from start to finish.

I don't know if this was intentional but I believe that the way this story is written reflects the personalities of Deacon and Kate and as they develop so does the atmosphere i.e. as the written becomes a little more romantic so do they. I love how this contrasts to the first book where it was like an amazing mosh pit of dreamy romance because that's who Emmalyn and Noel are they are a Dreamy Romantic mosh pit.

I 100% recommend not only this book but this series to any true romantmaniac like myself. It's full of magic, culture, heart-stopping relationships! ( and if that's not enough for you the 18+ scenes are greatly written and are honestly true 18+ XD )

This second book in the "Soul Mate Series" revolves around a couple from the previous novel.

Deacon is single. He lives in Ireland where he is part of a successful and renowned business. He has had his fair share of playing the field without commitments.

Kate is a confident business woman who has confidence and trust issues in her personal life. As a result of childhood and teenage traumas, she has to be in control of all aspects of her life.

Kate and Deacon met via a video conference and have been smitten with each other since. They had a brief encounter at their friends' wedding but decided not to take things any further despite the obvious attraction.

Kate pays a visit to her friends in Ireland without Deacon's knowledge. Inadvertently, they come face to face which forces them to address some of their apprehensions about long term relationships. They are both tortured souls who have been through a lot of pain in the past. Deacon is quite prepared to take a chance whilst Kate doesn't think that she is "worthy" after everything that's happened to her.

Kate eventually decides to have a go at a relationship with Deacon and when it looks like it might just work out, they face one obstacle after another. Deacon's life is being threatened. The lights that are shed on their pasts bring some shocking and impossible news. Is this relationship doomed?

This novel has a paranormal twist with angelic interventions. The locations are descriptive enough to give the reader a realistic picture without interfering with the flow of the story. This could be a matter of preference! The romance is very poignant. Friends' loyalty and support are very well portrayed. The sex scenes are very graphic. The storyline is very well developed and full of suspense and surprises.

This would appeal to those who like erotic novels with palpable emotions and endless twists.

I loved this book! Brilliant writing

I loved Author C. L. Hunter’s first book in her Soul Mates series and was equally thrilled by this second one, My Soul Belongs to You. It centered on two characters from the first book: Katlyn Reynolds, a successful businesswoman from South Carolina, and Deacon O’Mallery, a top CEO from Dublin.

Sparks erupted from their first contact, but Katlyn and Deacon each had a history of betrayal and abuse that had led them to avoid love and commitment. Could true love set them free? Suspense and drama unfolded as people from their past chased after them threatening to unravel their hard won emotional equilibrium, not to mention, jeopardize their lives.

Hunter’s exquisite writing pulled me in from the start. She has an amazing gift for storytelling that grabs you and doesn’t let go. Her great strength as a writer is her ability to draw the reader into the emotions of her characters. I loved the lush descriptions and use of foreign places, the Irish culture and language that was spot on perfect, never over done, nor making me lose the thread of the drama and love story. Hunter placed me into each scene, so that I could feel, taste, smell and see the sights as they unfolded to the characters, whether in romantic Paris or the raw fisherman’s warehouse, befitting the mind of a deranged man bent on destroying Katlyn and Deacon.

The dialogue was witty and smart with a charming use of song lyrics for innuendo and subtle context, fleshing out characters as well as the evolving love affair. As with her first book, Hunter skillfully combined drama, suspense, mystical fantasy, romance and erotica. Yet, the overarching theme was love and commitment. It was a beautiful love story!

I am a big C. L. Hunter fan and highly recommend this book.

Katlyn Reynolds gave up a daughter for adoption at the tender age of 16 and has since developed a very successful advertisement company while refusing to get close to anyone to protect her heart from further hurt. Then she meets Deacon O'Mallery - a sexy Irish businessman who has put being an orphan with nothing to become second in command of a large intel company. On meeting her he realises Katlyn is his soul-mate and after hearing her story he realises he wants to find his birth mother. Katlyn on the other hand is confused - she feels comfortable enough to share her past but insists he find someone else for a future. Deacon tries desperately to find his birth mother while fighting to make Katlyn realise she has to become his - thankfully he has the spirits Thomas and Calista to help him.

This was a lovely story interwoven into a lot of Irish folklore. The agonies that both Katlyn and Deacon were going through were covered quite substantially and I felt that was a little too much as I started to find it boring. However I did enjoy the story and I did like the plot of the story. The writing was clear and easy to understand and feel.

My Soul Belongs to You (Soul Mates Book 2) by C.L. Hunter is a well put together combination of genres, not the least of which is romance. Toss in a little touch of angels, eroticism, and huge amounts of charisma and electricity between Katlyn and Deacon and you have a great story. Hunter is great at fully developing the characters and even manages to avoid some of the more common cliches that are so often found in romance novels. When the two main characters meet, their respective pasts pose some trouble, and could possibly come between them, but Hunter finds a way for true love to prevail. With an added dimension of angels in the spirit world that watch over Katlyn and Deacon, you have a sweet and inspiring element. Thrills and suspense are not far to be found either, and Hunter captures the pace of the plot firmly in this story, guiding the reader to the satisfying ending. Not to be missed for romance lovers and others alike.

Katlyn and Deacon’s story in My Soul Belongs to You is so compelling I forgot this was the second book in the series. Of course after finishing I immediately started on the first, but I don’t feel I missed out on anything from beginning with book two.

Hunter does a fantastic job of developing the characters, and avoiding the predictable clichés we as readers have gotten used to in the overcrowded romance genre. It takes a lot for a book to stand out ahead of its contemporaries and I believe My Soul Belongs to You absolutely does.

The changing backdrop kept me interested while the writing and twists were the real hook. Hunter is a writer I feel will soon be discovered and become a household name, and I’m glad I got to experience her work without any preconceived idea of what I would find.

Series books that also offer enough when reading out of order are a favourite of mine. I discovered this a few years ago by accident, and when going back to start from earlier books there is a whole new realm of depth that further adds to the overall experience. Reading other reviews of My Soul Belongs to You this is what came across to me so I took the plunge and read it for myself.

C.L. Hunter is obviously a writer with a lot of talent, which is what first came across to me. I love the characters and how their introduction is handled in such a provocative way. The scene setting is also subtle but painted with just the right amount of detail so that they never overpower the prose, which is fast and punchy. I’m now off to read Your Soul Was Made for Mine, and hoping for further books in the series.

Although I loved "Your Soul Was Made for Mine" by C.L. Hunter, I believe she excelled herself in every way possible with the marvelous sequel, "My Soul Belongs to You".

This time we are presented with a love story with many ups and downs, like most love stories truly have. I had never enjoyed a romance novel so much since Jane Austen's. This is how good it is.

The settings, the exchange of songs between the lovers, and the overall plot –which sometimes felt like a thriller– made for a must-have for all you romance lovers.

Although I'm an occasional romance reader –I very much prefer fantasy and science fiction– I have read many romance novels over the years and it felt like ages since I was as moved and excited for a romance novel as I was when reading this one.

I was so excited that I read it in one single day! I really recommend it.

After reading Book 1 of this series, I had to read this one! A great read. It is different from the first in a lot of ways; if you thought book 1 lacked the “intimate” scenes, you’ll appreciate that this book has several. Personally, I’m OK either way. The supernatural aspect of this book is more talents than spiritual.

The characters were well developed and easily relatable. The story was realistic and written to provide a smooth read. I would recommend this book and look forward to book 3.

Overall, I loved this book, but nothing can compare to Your Soul Was Made For Mine (Book 1.) I rate it with a strong 4 stars.

I enjoyed "My Soul Belongs to You" by C.L. Hunter. This is the follow up book in the Soul Mates series and I received a complementary copy to read in exchange for an honest review. I was hesitant to continue with this series since the writing is a little formal for my tastes and I'm not usually a big reader in the fantasy/ mystic space, but there was something about the author's writing style that had me so curious to know how the story would continue for these characters. I'm glad I stuck with it and found myself thoroughly enjoying the path the story takes. I would recommend this to fans of traditional romance novels.

C L Hunter’s latest offering proved to be a thrill packed ride of erotica, romance, thrills and spills. I’m not generally a romance reader but having been looking to branch outside my usual reading comfort zone as part of a reading challenge, and so far have really enjoyed what I’ve found.

The characters are more detailed than I’d have expected from what I, perhaps wrongly, thought was a genre of more about the thrills than great depth, but I enjoyed the story of Katlyn and Deacon. In fact I expect I’ll read more from Hunter at some point in the future.

Wow, C L Hunter captures an epic love story in this the second book in her Soul Mates series. The writing is tight and fast and the romance and passion has sparks flying so I didn’t want to stop reading. The backdrop of South Carolina and then Dublin are written with such vivid clarity you feel a part of the story yourself, and if she continues writing this well it’s only a matter of time before Hunter becomes part of the romance big-hitters. A fantastic read, I want more and more.

Another fantastic read from C L Hunter. My Soul Belongs to You gets underway with the same great writing and fire that I’ve learned to expect, and with Katlyn and Deacon we have great characters that both have complexities and depth. Mystical love affairs don’t come any better than this, believe me, I‘ve read enough of them, and now I can’t wait to read Hunter’s next book.
