A slow burn affair-a la Ms Zapata- set in the Formula 1 world, thankfully this serial is much better than the first.

I was engrossed! This book was handled so much better than the first. It was more cohesive, more fluid, and had less unnecessary details. Isabella's heart has been put through the wringer because of Christopher's perceived betrayal. She's trying to stay away, to deal with him as a professional, and really who can blame her... but the heart wants what it wants. Once again together in secret, their relationship was rife with tension and near-misses. Book two made for a much more entertaining read and ended with one heck of a cliffy. Book three can't come out soon enough!

ARC received from the author in exchange for an honest review

4.25 Pigeon Stalking stars

Oh my. After reading the firsts 20% and being side-tracked by other ARCs and such, I finished this off in one day. I literally restarted it in the morning and just kept going until the brutal ending.

But anyway, let's start with order. This instalment was quite different from the first one for a couple of reasons. First of all, the writing style went from good to great. If the first book needed a little polishing, this one flowed effortlessly. It showed more maturity and experience. It kept me hooked throughout the narration.

Second case in point, it was more angsty. Which is why the last star fell for me. I'm a die-hard fan of low-angst romances. At the end of book 1, we're left with Christopher and Isabella in a very unpleasant situation (trying not to spoiler here!) and book 2 stars right off from there. Even though a part of me totally understands why Isabella was super wary of Christopher, given what had happened, it took her a long while, at least page-wise, to give him another chance. So this is why I didn't give it 5 stars. I mean, I would have probably acted the same way, but while I was reading it, a part of me felt bad for him and wanted to yell at her to not be so hard on the guy.

"I want to kiss you now, here in the middle of the street," he said, reading for her cheek, his lips inches away from hers already.

That being said, I loved how more profound their relationship got after they smoothed things over. It's the reason why I love series more than standalones. You don't only get a better insight in the characters' souls, but you also root for them more. You share their journey, you invest time on them and you get to see them through thick and thin. This was the case. We see Christopher woo Isabella once again, getting her to trust him once again. And, let me tell you, he gives good woo.

Another thing I might have already said in my first review, is that I love clandestine relationships. The furtive glances, the light touches. Everything is amplified because forbidden, so even the slightest gesture matters. And let's not forget the jealousy!!! With neither of them being officially taken, it's only fair that other people express their interest. Seeing Christopher shooting daggers at John was definitely swoon worthy, same as reading about Giselle's failed attempts to seduce Christopher with Isabella simmering in the background.

Isabella cut a piece [of pain au chocolate] for Christopher and then fed him some, her eyes gleaming with joy. She watched him chew the sweet deli and then had some as well.
"I know, I know it's delicious, isn't it?" She smiled wide. "I am the queen of take away, I'm a natural. I can smell good food from miles away. It's a talent."

If in the first book their relationship was still flimsy, in this one it's clear that their feelings are strong and run deep. I didn't doubt anymore about Christopher's intentions towards Isabella because yes, he may not be used to relationships, but it was blatant that he was in for the long haul.

"Are you mine tonight?"
"Just tonight?"
"Every night." He smiled to the side.

There were also other situations intertwining with our MCs romance, like Isabella's sister personal love story and her friend's life changes because of her husband's job. It felt realistic, and I always appreciate it when the author manages to fit in other slivers of lives besides the main love story. It thickens the tapestry, so to speak.

They found time to buy me cake.
The thought made her chest warm. It was such a sweet, lovely thing to do and possible two times as much, as it was unexpected.
It was true what Fred had told her once, right at the beginning of her new work adventure. Doing this sort of job - working and living with the same people, travelling around the world - helped form a strong bond with one other. Every day they shared so much - food, sleep, lack of sleep, emotions, moments of joy and sadness - that the team became one big, extended family.
I'm blessed.

On the racing side, I loved the details and behind-the-scenes portrayed. From the personalized headphones, to the changes of the tires to the special protocols in case of incidents. I was completely clueless about all of the above and it's nice to get surprised by new tidbits like this and not just reading about generalized situations. I mean, if I were to write an auto-racing accident, I'd probably describe it the way I would a supermaket-cart crash. This t-boned into that and someone got hurt. So kudos for that!

All in all, I enjoyed it and am already reading the third and last book, which just came out. This instalment was definitely more structured than the first, better written but also more serious. At the beginning you can truly feel Isabella's heartbreak and I liked how the author took the time to dwell on it, too. It shaped Isabella's character a bit more to the readers' eyes, making me understand how strong of a woman she can actually be. This doesn't mean that there weren't fun and romantic moments. Christopher's surprise for her birthday was one of my favorite scenes because it was such a special gesture, so personal it melted my heart. Also, seeing them eat breakfast together, spending time at his place, that domesticity is exactly what I love in romances. It's not the big fancy dinners or gala, but the quiet moments between two people who are falling in love with each other.

"Besides, I am the victim of a conspiracy here, I am trying to keep away from people."
"What conspiracy?" Cristina asked, clueless of what her friend was on about.
"The love is all around you conspiracy," Isabella said, mumbling the last part.
"The what?" Cristina insisted.
"You obviously have been happy and in love for a long time to remember, but the conspiracy goes something like this: if you just broke up with someone, if your date stood you up, if you have just been cheated on..."
"Okay, I get it."
"Love will be all around you, in the form of movies, videos, people kissing in the street..."

So much better than book 1

I've come to this book straight from book 1. I rated that 3 star, mostly due to poor editing but also because there wasn't much pace and the flow was a little jittery.
However, book 2 is so much better. There's more story, more drama. Sentences run better, the feel of the story is more gripping. You are immediately plunged into the story and away you go.
I absolutely adore Christopher and Isabella and their relationship, even though I do feel like hitting her round the head and telling her to get a grip. They have so such fun together and it just feels so normal.
I am definitely intrigued by Christopher's blackmail malarkey. There's just that hint of trouble, it keeps you on your toes and makes you want to read on, not only through to the end of this book but also on to book 2.
The ending of this one is a bit more cliffy than book 1 but its also more heart in the mouth.
There are still a few language barrier mistakes dotted throughout the book but they are easily corrected in your head as you read.
Definitely looking forward to book 3 to see how this story ends.

5 Heart Stopping, Adrenalin Filled Stars!!!

Isabella has a job to perform and she is going to perform it well; only, her heart is aching, she misses his touch, his presence, his laugh. Working together won’t be easy, can she resist the urge to be near him?

It’s a long time since I devoured a series so quickly; the Counterpoints series by Laura Rossi has took hold of my heart and has me held hostage. I can’t devour the pages quick enough, I can’t get enough of the characters, the story, the beauty of this incredible romance story. It’s a hard feat for me to hold off devouring book #3, so I can write this review. I applaud Laura Rossi, her talent for writing a captivating, enthralling, brilliant story is impeccable.

Christopher is an enchanting character, you truly can’t resist his charm, the aura of joy and happiness that follows him wherever he goes. It’s clear he holds onto a lot of pain and struggles to confide in others. However, with Isabella, Christopher is 100% himself, he allows his true feelings and personality to come to life, he is quite the character, he isn’t afraid to take risks, he lives for the adrenalin rush, even when it comes to his feelings for Isabella.

This story not only builds up to a heart stopping, heart breaking cliff hanger style ending, I can feel its building up to a much bigger storyline. One that I hope Christopher and Isabella will fight together, showing the world and those around them, just how strong they are.

The Counterpoints series is for romance readers who like a little adrenalin rush, enjoy romances with a captivating edge and are happy to belt up and enjoy the ride. This series does need to be read in order, starting with Counterpoints book #1.

ohhh book 2....well hello!

This is the flirty goodness I wanted in book #1- Counterpoints. This book flows much better than book 1.

Isabella and CT are at it again. Flirting, teasing, being all adorable and fun stuff like that. There is a deeper connection between the two in this book. It's almost palpable. I fell in love with Christopher and saw what Isabella see's in him. I'm glad I read book #2, otherwise I'd be missing out on this goodness!

I thought the first one was good, this one is even better and not just because of how it is written. The story takes an interesting twist and we learn more about the main characters, Isabella and Christopher. I don't want to write anything about the plot, it's just wonderful and intense.
Some parts really gave me butterflies. There will be a third, that's all I am saying and i just cannot wait.

Reviewed on behalf of 3 girls who love books
I have to say this book was a nice improvement on the first book in the series (not that I didn’t enjoy that one!). It definitely shows the development of the author as a writer, it didn’t feel quite as disjointed and definitely flowed a lot better. I’m not sure whether the story moved along much if I’m honest but I love that we are getting to see the deep connection that Christopher and Isabella have, the pace is fairly slow but I think I actually like that.
This book picks up straight after book 1 where we know that Christopher and Isabella are no longer together. I have to admit thought that I really do love them as a couple! They are so adorable! Christopher is genuinely a lovely character and I still love him (I really don’t think that is going to change either). There are a few twists in the storyline and I am looking forward to seeing how the author expands on these in the final story. There are also some good secondary characters in the book too, some of which are likeable and some not so much!!
The cliff-hanger is better in this book and has definitely left me wanting to know what is going to happen next. I am really enjoying this series so far and if you are motorsport romance fan then I think you will definitely enjoy the characters and the storyline.

I'm not one for cliffhangers but this book was so well written I didn't mind….much.

This is the second book in a three part series told from duel POV's.

I loved the soul-crushing connection between Christopher and Isabella. He royally messed up in book one and needs to regain her trust in this one. The passion and pull they have toward each other drew me in and had me rooting for their happily ever after.

This book got my heart pumping and my hands sweating with the constant twists and turns. And the ending….holy cow! I need the next book NOW!

The thing about secrets and lies is they eventually all come out. As the book develops, we see more layers to the characters and I love the realness in them.

This author continues to grow in her writing and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us with future projects!

I received an ARC for an honest review
Review by Country Gals book Blog

The second installment takes off where we left off with Isabella and Christopher on the outs. He totally screwed up and now he needs to figure out how to make amends. It's not easy and with Isabella's past, she doesn't trust easy. The chemistry and the intense need between these two to be together has us rooting for them throughout the book. And just when things start looking up, the author pulls a fast one on us. We still have questions unanswered but this wasn't about the answers to their pasts. This story was about how they could overcome the obstacles put before them and begging to open up to each other. It's a great sequel to the first book and I am excited to see what happens in the third installment.

This is the second book in this series, and follows straight on from the first book. Isabella and Christopher’s relationship grows from strength to strength, and together they are soul-mates and the perfect couple.
This story is filled with mystery, suspense, emotions, secrets, twists, and love. I was on tenterhooks waiting for the major twist to occur. Can’t wait to read the 3rd book in this series! This authors writing skills are going from strength to strength, and I was hooked and intrigued throughout. Well done Laura, great job!
Thank you to the author for allowing me to review these novels for her.

This book of the series was much stronger. The author is getting more comfortable with her ability to weave an excellent story. Here we see just how this secret relationship is working out for both of these too. With Christopher hiding secrets that he is worried may destroy everything he has worked for and Isabella afraid of what might happen if they go public, there is a lot at stake.

Although this isn't a standalone the series is getting better with each book. Although both characters are dealing with their own issues that could become a problem once they are revealed. Just enough emotion and angst with a hint of intrigue make this book enjoyable.

I liked the first one, but this was way better than I expected.
The plot develops very well, we get to know the characters better, especially Christopher (spoiler alert: he's adorable, maybe more than usual).
Isabella, dear Isabella… thank God she’s in a book and not in front of me… I would gladly punch her repeatedly. The author did a great job making her real!
There is a bit more romance here than in the previous book, even though the sex scenes are always discreet.
I can't wait for the third one to come out!

Amazing!

Laura Rossi, what a great way to break my heart. From the beginning of the book, I was feeling the heartache that Isabella was feeling and the immense desperation I felt towards the end on Christopher's last race. I can honestly say that this book has played with my feelings in way I thought that couldn't be possible. I love it! You can feel the passion Laura has put into her work with how amazing this books are.

I absolutely loved the 2nd installment of this series. The attraction continues to grow between Christopher and Isabella. Her feelings are so strong now she is struggling with keeping their relationship a secret and having to deal with the attention Christopher gets from other women. If he had it his way, there would be no secrets. Then the accident, oh I can't wait to see how this ends.

This book leads on nicely from book one. Christopher and Isabella are trying hard not to let their feelings show in front of others. But you can feel the tension between them, growing harder to keep their feelings hidden from other. And the ending OMG! Fabulous book and I cannot wait to read book three. Wonderful characters and engaging storytelling.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by the author)...

3.75 stars

Cliffhanger!

In my opinion, this book was more enjoyable to read than Book 1. The relationship between Isabella and Christopher is more apparent and the connection is strong. The flow of the story was great and I didn't feel like the story dragged. The switch between the different POVs was clear and not confusing at all.

Possible Spoilers:

I am interested about Christopher's blackmailer, I assume the secret has something to do with his father and it's apparently a huge problem. Isabella was still a little stubborn with her doubts, but as the story progressed, she continued to mature and learn to trust more.

I am interested in reading the last book in the series to see how the story concludes.
