If you bought all the albums listed in “The Perfect Collection,” that’s what you’d a broad, balanced, lively, perfect collection of all that’s best in Rock music. Over 200 albums are listed here, from the early days of Rock n’ Roll, through the Sixties and Seventies to The Clash and beyond. Each has the date of release, US and British labels, track listings, musicians and a pithy explanation of why the album should be included in everybody’s record collection. All the great names of Rock are here, of course, but Tom Hibbert, the editor, has reflected the weight of his contributors’ often controversial and idiosyncratic choices by including some albums that may not be widely known but have a special place in the history of Rock.
My favourite music book. I've found my way to so much wonderful music, thanks to this book. Would love to see this format done again - stopping at Haircut 100 is so frustrating.
