Like the previous book, Bodyguard With A Badge, this is pretty dull. The plot has forensic analyst Shaye Mallory shot at by a mystery gunman. The police officer she's had the hots for over the last couple of years, Cole Walker (who has previously protected her in a shootout), vows to protect her this time as well, and sets out to discover who may want her dead.
The plot doesn't consist of much more than Cole and his brothers, and his detective partner Luke Hunt, trying to decide which of Shaye's ...more

Loved this! Exactly my type of hero. I enjoyed how the relationship developed between two friends who doubted their suitability for anything more, but discovered that they were exactly what the other one needed. The action scenes were tense and totally kick-butt. Ms. Heiter is one of the best action writers I've read.
Highly recommend.

This book started with a bang (literally) and kept me hooked all the way through. A year earlier Shaye had gotten caught in the crossfire of a shootout at the police station. Afraid of it happening again, she quit her job in the digital forensics lab. Now she is back, determined to overcome the fears that kept her away from the job she loved. After a week on the job, she has just started to relax when she is shot at again. Cole is first on the scene to save her. Cole has a bad feeling about this

**4.5 Stars**
From the moment Cole, a detective, and Shaye, a forensics expert, bumped into each other on her first day, a bond was created. Neither acted on the instant mutual attraction, even though both wanted to, they did form a very strong friendship. That included frequent visits during work, as their buildings were in close proximity, and daily meet ups before and after work. During one of the latter, Shaye was unfortunately caught in a shoot out as gang members opened fire on the police s ...more

Detective Cole Walker will do anything to keep Shaye Mallory safe after she's shot at by an unknown assailant. But the only way to do that is to make certain she's around people he trusts from now until the person that wants to hurt her is behind bars. Will Cole be able to do his job to the best of his ability; or will their strong attraction make him too distracted and prevent their chance at happy ever after?

I really enjoyed this book. It started off fast. Shaye Mallory had gone to Roy’s Grocery to pick up a few items to celebrate. She had gone a full week where no one had shot at her. It felt like a good reason for a celebration. As Shaye was about to load her groceries into the car, shot rang out. Her hero and secret crush Cole walker who was a police detective showed up after the call shots fired came across the radio. Shaye who was a Maryland’s Jannis County Forensics worked near Cole. She liter

This was a good suspense story, though I did find it unlikely that so much would be happening at the same time. The romance between the two characters was slow in the making, since they've known each other for two years, but still almost too fast in how quickly they progressed...at least for me. All in all, I thought this was a nice story.

Imminent and constant danger, explosive moments of deadly action, and the sweetest, adorable romance that had me smiling lured me into the story, and held the interest all through the tale, could not put it down until I was done.
The Lawmen: Bullets and Brawn have won me over. I enjoyed this second installment of the series immensely.
The connection Cole Walker has with his brothers of heart, the men who he grew up with in the foster care system, is nothing short of amazing. The loyalty and suppo ...more

What a wonderful story!! Yes, I love this series. This is the second installment in The Lawmen: Bullets and Brawn series. The cover gives a hint at the story it contains. Shaye Mallory moved to the area a few years ago and it seems like she has been dodging bullets since shortly after her arrival. A year ago she was an innocent bystander during a shootout at the police station, the one place she should feel the safest. She has recently returned to her job as a forensic analyst and to celebrate s

Police Protector is the second installment in Elizabeth's newest Lawmen Series. This time out the focus is on the oldest Foster brother Cole Walker. The story picks up the bread crumbs from Bodyguard with a Badge, the backstory is revealed of a gang shooting at the police station. Elizabeth develops interesting secondary characters Shaye (victim of the shooting, computer hacker, Cole's love interest) and partner who has Cole's back, Luke Hayes. As in previous novel, family dynamic is an importan

I liked this book sooooo much more then the 1st one! It was the main characters that did me in. I loved that Shaye and Cole had this background together. They've known each other for 2 years and have been friends through it. The chemistry is great and well written. The characters, stubborn, smart and resilient. The brothers continued to be a plus for me. I was a little upset more details and investigation didn't go into the fire from their childhood. Cole has to be my favorite brother though. Hi

When you start a book with a girl getting shot at as she comes out of the grocery store and loosing her eggs in the parking lot... Then the super hot and amazing police detective coming to her rescue. This is totally the recipe for an amazing book. Aside from my responsibilities in the realm of adulting, I could NOT put this book down. There were gangs and criminals and love... I was done in 2 days! It kept my attention with romance and lots of suspense. Another great book by Elizabeth Heiter! I

this book was all action from the start to the end. it was great trying to find clues out. even when there were no suspects on the list. you still kept looking for clues, you might have missed. then the romantic sparks between Cole and Shaye also kept your attention . you keep hoping for a happy ending.

Second in The Lawmen: Bullets and Brawn series. The story of another brother, Cole, and the love of his life, Shaye. After Shaye survives a shoot out, Cole assumes bodyguard duty to protect her. Lots of twists and turns to find the villain, close to losing both their lives, the relationship must survive. Lots of tension to keep you reading this one through in one sitting.
