In this small book, Robb Thompson relates his views on excellence. He backs them up with some scriptural reference and illustrates them with a few examples from his personal life.
He describes excellence as, among other things, a state of being and not an action; as something we gradually grow into on our quest to becoming all we were created to be, and not a thing we instantly attain once we decide to pursue it. He offers principles that can get us started and help us stay on know the road to excellence.
He also shares the benefits of walking the long, winding road to excellence, two of which are not only grasping God's best for our lives, but also growing into all He created us to be.
On the road to excellence, he says, no matter what we go through, when we finally get to the podium (that place of honour before great people that is a part of the reward for the pursuit of excellence), we get to enjoy a prize that is far greater than the price we had to pay to get there.
