I love all the Help me Be Good Books by Joy Berry. I had a couple handed down to me from my mom and I found a bunch of the series at a used book store and bought them all! My kids love reading them just for story night, but I also find them very helpful to read when we are having a problem with a certain trait.
Each book focuses on defining what the action is, how it makes people feel and what to do about it. It helps explain how being forgetful can affect others and can even be dangerous. It's simple and quick and my kids love the little mouse or bunny character that pops up. The beginning shows what can happen when you do certain things, and in the end shows a much happier outcome if you try something different.
A Book About Being Forgetful motivates children to assume responsibility for remembering things. It also suggests ideas that will help them remember.
I loved these books when I was little. This is one that stuck in my mind, as I was (and still am) a very forgetful person due to a neurological condition. I remember using some of the tips in this book and I continue to use them today.
As usual Joy Berry does a great job of helping guide children on how, why, and how to help deal with problems that everyone faces in day to day living.
I grew up on these books and absolutely love them! The Help Me Be Good books are great for young children. My children also loved them when they were young.
Overdoing It is often a problem with young children. They find something they enjoy and do not realize that too much might not be good for them. This is one book I often share with parents for my preschool class at the first part of the year to help them realize that establishing a bedtime routine helps children be ready for school the next day. I share it with the children too as guidance to help them realize their behavior has consequences. The book is old so using computers, tablets and electronic games is not mentioned so I extend the lesson to cover these new technologies and stress the importance of playing outside. This book is part of my set of Joy Berry books I have owned for many years.
I loved this book. My kids (or mostly my son) have such a problem with remembering to a point where it just seems ridiculous and I wonder if something is wrong with them. This book was really great because it shows that people do forget, but there are consequences to forgetting, but it also gives them several methods for remembering. I think this is such a great series. I remember my parents having several books by Joy Berry when I was a kid, and I found them helpful as a child, just like I find them helpful as a parents trying to teach my children. I still remember a lot of the lessons I learned in these books as a child. I highly recommend this book, and the series as a whole.
Such a great book for kids and adults to read together!! Joy Berry has a wonderful way of bringing things to a kids level to help them understand things better. Sometimes as an adult we forget kids see and process the world differently than us.
Beautifully illustrated to help kids pay attention while learning valuable life lessons!
This series is wonderful for any home or classroom! I want them for he community center where I work!! I am also thrilled they are being made available as ebooks!!
This is an entertaining book in the Help Me Be Good series that teaches children about ethical and moral themes.
I thought that this was an engaging story about forming habit patterns and finding ways to remember important things. The narrative is short and easy to read aloud and the illustrations are colorful and cartoonish, if a bit dated.
