Aaron Lauritsen chucks up his life and goes on a road trip round the USA accompanied by his dog. And he describes his progress in detail, recounting his daily round and visiting bars, chatting with folks, looking up ex army friends, observing the landscape and doing a lot of jogging. He also visits a lot of historic spots like Little Big Horn, the site of JFK’s assassination and Al Capone’s Chicago, and talks about the relevant American legends. On several occasion he reminisces about his tough ...more

The map of his trip will look almo ...more

The idea is almost a sacrament for Americans and I guess that goes for Canadians, too. Even if this road trip is in book form it’s too much of a temptation for me. The author is a military veteran, as am I, and infuses many parts of the narrative with stories about his former vocation and the friends that stay with you for the rest of your life. I’ve also spent a lot of time on t ...more
