I enjoyed Kenzie's wild spirit and the people who she surrounded herself with. The first chapters were rough to read at first, but soon after I was hooked! I did notice a lot of misspelling and sometimes the writing did not flow, but the plot of the story was good and I kept reading through. Great Book! I don't normally go for romance. This, however, is rather easy to relate to, and not overly sexual. I found Kenzie someone that I, personally, could get along with. A divorcee struggling to find momentum in life. The added heat between her an a lover is just icing on the cake.

This was an odd experience for me, I’ve read books before where I’ve not particularly liked the heroine, and usually this means I stop reading. But, in this case, even though I disliked Kenzie, the main character, intensely, I kept on reading the book anyway because it was so well written, and I enjoyed the plot and the supporting cast of believable characters.

Kenzie is an amoral, shallow, scrounger, living off her father and lurching from one self-imposed high to another through her casual use This was an odd experience for me, I’ve read books before where I’ve not particularly liked the heroine, and usually this means I stop reading. But, in this case, even though I disliked Kenzie, the main character, intensely, I kept on reading the book anyway because it was so well written, and I enjoyed the plot and the supporting cast of believable characters.

Kenzie is an amoral, shallow, scrounger, living off her father and lurching from one self-imposed high to another through her casual use of drugs, drink and sex. Everything I’m not, I found the mother in me recoiling from her life choices, convinced she was going to come to a sticky end, and wanting to take her to one side for a good chat about what the heck she was doing to her body and her life.

Set in sunny Australia, it was interesting to read of a life so far removed from my own work-obsessed existence in currently damp and cold Britain, and I enjoyed the author’s little snippets about life “down under”. There is some interesting by-play between Kenzie and her family, and I particularly liked the contrast between her and her conventional, straight laced sister. More of this would have been nice.

The on-off relationship between her and Max is intriguing, and although I did guess early on where it was going, the journey itself to get there was fun. Again, I found myself howling at the book in disbelief at the number of times Kenzie managed to mess things up, by being drunk, high or a little too free and easy with her sexual favours.

The book is well written, tightly paced and generally typo free – but some slightly odd formatting made it a little hard to read on a 7” tablet.

I believe this is the debut novel by this author, and it is a good, solid start, earning a well-deserved four stars from me. I would have liked a little more depth to Kenzie, I would have liked to have actually liked Kenzie more, but, this is more a reflection on me, my age and the morals of my generation, than it is the character herself.

So, well done to the author, for being talented enough to craft a novel I actually wanted to keep reading, in spite of, or maybe even because of, my total alienation with the main character

So I really enjoyed this modern, thirty-something modern fiction novel. It kind of reminded me of Sex and the city with edge. Kenzie is an aspiring writer, she loves her single life and her independence. Men sometimes don't get that, and are often left stranded in her midst. Single Rider is set in Australia, home of first-time author, Skye Leigh Collett. A story based on Kenzie, a struggling writer who is not romantic but certainly has something missing in her life.

This book is written from an Australian woman's perspective, an Australian who drinks, does drugs, has shameless sex, and likes to go to concerts. She is also one of those people who does what she wants, when she wants, with little guilt about it. However, there is some little bitty bit of her that may think that life could be different. Single Rider is a book you'll be sure to enjoy. It tells the story of Kenzie, a 32 year old single divorcee who likes to party and loves her friends, family and ex-husband (oh, who wants to have a child with her despite the divorce, but you'll have to read the book to learn how that plays out.)

Loved this. Just loved it.
I adore a book with a strong Brisbane connection & the lead character Kenzie is just brilliant. Her no-nonsense narrative gives such a real, hilarious & sometimes raw view on single life in your 30s.
Not my usual cup of tea, but this book hooked me instantly. A great read.

Loved it. Kenzie had me laughing out loud - didn't agree with her choice of love interest at times but she does what she wants, not what the reader wants - and I love that. I love books that entertain but at the same time offer interesting, multi-dimensional characters and an engaging plot. “Single Rider” was definitely one of these books. I enjoyed reading about Kenzie and her “adventures” of a single woman, and as the story progressed, I absolutely loved how Kenzie’s character grew and matured in front of my eyes. This was a good solid erotic romance. If I was able to give it, I would rate this at 3.5 stars. It was very HOT and STEAMY! I loved that part of it. Single rider was sexy, wicked and hilarious. I loved the dialogue and wit of the characters. Kenzie did honestly not give AF and was going to live her life the way she wanted. I just finished reading Single Rider and even though I don't normally read books where the main character drinks and does drugs. This book was about so much more than just that. I absolutely loved Kenzie and her wild ways and crazy free spirit! Non-committed hookups with guys, along with drugs, and drinking and the magical life of Australia, Kenzie has no worries, except Kenzie still can’t write. There is also that man who has walked back into her life and managed to incorporate himself into her family. Completely attracted and mind blow by this man, Kenzie is an author who has hit a bit of a writer's block. While she works to find her voice again, she gets help financially from her supportive father and lives a fast paced single life. Non-committed hookups with guys, along with drugs, and drinking and the magical life of Australia, Kenzie has no worries, except Kenzie still can’t write. There is also that man who has walked back into her life and managed to incorporate himself into her family. Completely attracted and mind blow by this man, the feeling of lusting after him but doesn’t want to have anything to do with him, Kenzie can’t help but get emotional.

Reading books written by authors from different countries is a prime example of getting to peer into someone else's culture through books. You see the costumes and family dynamics. It is what reading is about; exploring.

What Didn’t Work: There is a lot that happens in this book. I wanted to know what happened between Kenzie and Max’s past “relationship.” What happened in all that time that passed that now he is so desirable to her, something he obviously lacked before. Secondly, the author leaves the reader wondering if Dash, Kenzie’s ex-husband but still best friend, is gay. We know Dash goes on a date but we never learn with whom. Some of his mannerism suggest that he might be gay. Also, he desires a child with Kenzie, never acknowledging that a future wife could be an option in his desire to have children (he is still dating after all). If Dash is gay, I don’t know why it's not explicitly stated. In our current time a gay character, even if he was once married to a woman, isn’t frowned upon like in the past. It is almost expected. Lastly, I thought Kenzie might have decided to change some of her “recreational activities,” but we are never told for sure. Max is more of a clean life kind of person and I wonder if that will clash with their relationship in the future.

What Did Work: Max!! Max worked for me in every single way. I love him and his gentleness and protection and knowing what he wants. Though he is a bit bossy, he can also respect Kenzie’s decision. I just love him and wanted to keep him for myself. I really loved all of the characters. They all had something about them that seemed genuine (the married sister who every now and then wants to cut loose but regrets it later, the father who sees no fault in his daughters, even the wild best friend). This was a real family and you probably know one just like them. The characters are just adorable.

This book has some major drug and sex scenes so not suitable for everyone. But even in dismissing those scenes, I enjoyed the book and the author's ability to show different sides of the main character through her interaction with the other characters. This story is about enjoying life, believe in yourself, and love even when you don’t know why you're loving. It's a lot of fun to read. Good book and I do recommend it!.
